Publisher's Summary

Detective Erika Foster is back in Fatal Witness–with a chilling new serial-killer case in Robert Bryndza's multimillion best-selling crime-thriller series!

How do you find a killer who has destroyed all the evidence?

Detective Erika Foster is on a late-night walk near her new house in Blackheath when she stumbles upon the brutal murder of Vicky Clarke, a true-crime podcaster.

Erika is assigned to the case and discovers that Vicky had been working on a new podcast episode about a sexual predator who preys on young female students around South London, staking out his victims in their halls of residence before breaking in at the dead of night.

When Erika discovers that Vicky's notes and sound recordings were stolen from her flat at the time of her murder, it leads her to believe that Vicky was close to unmasking the attacker, and she was killed to guarantee her silence.

The case takes on a disturbing twist when the body of a young Bulgarian student doctor is discovered in the same building, and this makes Erika question everything she thought she knew about Vicky. With very little evidence, the clock is ticking to find the killer before he strikes again.

Love this latest Erika Foster installment!

Bryndza delivered yet another banger with Fatal Witness. It's paced a little more slowly than others in this series, but I think it fits the mood of the events happening in the characters' personal lives. Jan Cramer's performance is, of course, as terrific as always. I'm going to go right back in and listen to it again!

Kind of like an Agatha Christie novel...

The story was interesting and I like the characters in this series - but it is like an Agatha Christie novel. They introduce a character almost at the end of the book who you don't know where they came from and make them the killer! I thought it was a bit anti-climactic.

Erika does get hurt a lot

I enjoy Bryndza’s writing. His characters have a particular realistic feel to them and his stories aren’t cookie cutter. The only predictable thing about this series is that the protagonists get harmed by the antagonists in almost every book. For the rest the stories are delightfully unique. One thing I would change is the editing to these novels. The writing is solid, but riddled with a lot of repetitive words. Other than that it was another interesting read.

This last book of the series seemed.... disconnected?

So I have read all 7 of the Erika Foster books back to back in the past 2 weeks & for some reason this last one seemed a bit different to me. Almost as if it were an after thought or less detailed in plot & storyline than the prior 6 books. Fatal Witness lacked the same twists & turns & details the others had & all I can say is that is was just straight forward & simple. Definitely not what I've come to expect from the author & this series. I felt less connected to this book that I had with his first few. The Girl in the Ice was so captivating & exciting, it really compelled me to go on this journey devouring the Erika Foster series, only to be left feeling somewhat "meh," with Fatal Witness.
Regardless, it's a decent book & a decent storyline, although I'll always favor the first few books in this series over the last few. For what it's worth....

Very enjoyable series..

I have enjoyed the series since being introduced to Erika Foster! Very good series and I have recommended it! This one, however seemed a bit rushed and had a slight feel like all loose ends had to be tied up quickly. Even as we watched Erika mourn and grow emotionally and even soften in some ways.
I think part of that kept her realistic and 3 dimensional and I love how the thrillers are written. I hope Mr. Bryndza will reconsider putting James and Erika back together because it adds to the realism of the story. They understand the lives and situations that their jobs entail and the toll it takes. I feel like the introduction of these “other “ love interests really pulled the rug out from under something that was building nicely and worked much to the advantage of the stories.
That said, I don’t mind the sneak peek into all the changes in the character’s lives, but I hope this one thing changes in the next book, which I can’t wait to get my hands on!! :-)

Lame

A definite let down considering the caliber of the previous in this series. The story was flat, lifeless, and no mystery. A Dull Dud.

Great story, narrator didn't get it right for me

Great story, really enjoyed that part....I'm almost certain this narrator voices one of my other favourite series and in that she's excellent. in this many of the voices were really rushed and breathless as if the character had been running, in every scene, or others seemed to always be shouting in normal speech, and just other over the top choices, it must have been a choice or guidance given to her, but it was just weird. The narration of the story and main character was fine. Just made it a bit strange to listen to.
Story wise, it was great as all of his work, but from an audiobook perspective it made it a bit less enjoyable

Entertaining series

Yes, Audible, I did “enjoy this program” (assuming by accent it’s the American spelling). So good after a run of books I didn’t enjoy.

A little disappointing

I don’t know why, but I found the narrator more irritating that the previous books in this series. The Scottish accent in particular, was very strange!

The story was a little long winded and parts of it / some characters just came to an end without adequate explanation. In general this made the book a bit difficult to listen to and made the ending feel quite abrupt. As per other reviews, the story was fairly easy to guess, so it wasn’t particularly captivating from that perspective either.

Love the series and the author. However I did not feel this book stood up to the previous books. That said I would not be put off reading the next in the series.

Excellent addition to series

This is an excellent series with plausible plot lines, well drawn characters, some likeable, some not. If you like character driven police procedurals, this is a good series to follow. I’m looking forward to the next episode already.

Loved this one

This was one hell of story, it starts out with a massive confusion and just goes from there, Very convoluted and the only hint of the killer is near the end, Very good, loved it. Jan Cramer's narration was enjoyable as always.

Disappointed

I have loved all of Robert’s previous books and was really excited to start this one. However, it is nowhere near the class of the other books. It’s long winded and boring and by the end I really couldn’t care less who did it, although it didn’t take a genius to work it out
Need to up your game next book I’m afraid
