Publisher's Summary

A dangerous and cruel dragon-shifter is holding my sister hostage.

And I am going to kill him. With my bare hands, if I have to.

He wants to trade - Irena’s life, for mine. For my freedom. For the ancient and deadly dragon magic I fused with when his cronies kicked me into a pit to die.

I came back from the dead, and I brought the fury of hell with me. Now, they’re running scared - as they should. All of them, except this guy.

As the cherry on this toxic pie, my mentor is hunting me, too. She’s using every skill she ever taught me to track me down and lock me away.

My mentor trained me to obey her, and she’s pissed that I won’t bow down to her anymore. Determined to drain my magic, Zurie wants to reprogram my brain with enough drugs to make me an obedient little assassin again.

It won’t happen. And the poor fool who hurts my sister - well, he’s in for an early grave.

Buckle in for heart-pounding action, breathtaking magic, deadly assassins, four drop-dead gorgeous leading men, lots of toned muscles, and most importantly - a young woman’s journey of justice, self-discovery, and freedom.

Includes a special note from the author.

Bodice Ripper or High Fantasy. Please pick.

While I love good erotica the authors repeated digression from the main storyline with erotic entanglements and romantic entanglements and relational entanglements really takes away from what could be an amazing fantasy series. The premise and the primary storyline seem like they would be a wonderful story. I listened to the first barely and tried the second (didn’t finish) thinking she was just setting up the world-view. However the author decided that she wanted to have a lot of erotic tension where none really needed to be in my opinion. I really wish she would’ve written two different series. The bad ass Dragon Hunter and Spectre ideology was weakened by the contradictory emotional weakness of the main character. The main character ends up seeming a slave to her emotions and hormones like a teenager but it’s supposedly this cold, calculating, and brutal Spectre. Oh and by the way she never fails to remind you about the fact that she’s a Spectre and all her training. Then she is thrown over a shoulder and carried off against her will (eye roll).

Anyway, I’m a bit jaded with “bodice-rippers” masquerading as kick-ass female stories. Just write the bodice-ripper. Then write the kick-ass queen who can sleep with whomever she wants without drama. She definitely seemed to have the imagination and the chops for both.

Some will love this series and I say go for it especially if it’s free and included with Audible. But I am just over putting up with these types of femme fatale tales being passed off as something more. With age comes wisdom and less time to waste on...less.

Soso

For audible catalog it wasn't as bad as most... I would have like to listen to all of them but I it wasn't good enough to spend a little over $120 for the rest of the books. Way too expensive for a series that didn't completely captivate me.

spoiler

Author sets up a lot of different plots and subplots, but too much focus on the wrong things including the consistent untimely repetitious focus on sex and her hyperactive sexual desire for these men. The author also needs a Thesaurus and an editor for altering the words she uses cause they really don't change. I still like the main story and characters, but a lot of these subplots along with the main antagonist of this book were under developed and anticlimactic.

Not respectable

Can't believe I'm actually going to listen to the next book. This could have been a great book if the author didn't turn the main character into a turbo slot! It's so distasteful!

Get an Editor

The phrase “my treacherous body” is used over & over. 😫
Whole paragraphs are repeated as inner dialogues. Maybe too much copy & pasted? Perhaps books are being stretched out to create a semi-profitable series?
Condense and speed up storylines, avoid repetitive phrases, and this author won’t have to pad books with filler. Why?
Because the premise is good. Also, action & humor is well done.
Books 1 & 2 read like writing is a side job/hobby. Much potential with focus & editing. 3 out of 5

Waste of time!

This book was not worth wasting my time listening to it. Seriously she has to screw for men and she screws the ones that are not her mate first.

main character isn't likeable

The main character is very full of herself and unable to compromise. She is also convinced the she know everyone else's motivations and that her assumptions are facts. All the supporting characters are great but she kinda sucks

WAY TOO MUCH SEX

This story has way too much sex and lust, and very little actual action and concern.

Good storyline ruined by stupid characters

I don’t think I will get the next book in this series, because I honestly cannot stand any of the characters.

And so the walls start tumbling

Everyone is going through their thing with Rory. That’s fine, but I’m ready to see the dojo master come out with a win. Also, you can’t forget about Levi. I’m hoping to see him come out on top too.

More interesting than the first book

Fairly liked it but not outstanding. Good to see development of other characters. Her self confidence straying in to excessive defiance got a bit irritating at times as was repeated too often.

So glad the books keep coming for this series

I read the first book and was over the moon happy to see the seconds book in the series free on audible. I might have got through it in a day, that’s how much I am enjoying this series. The books are long but packed with plot and romance that continues to develop. Dragon shifter romance is my favourite kind so I could be bias but as it’s a freebie I highly recommend you give it a go.

completely suckered into this series!

Well well well another wonderful book. The humour, steamy relationships, twisted story and building plot had me reading late into the night to finish this book. Bring on book 3
