Publisher's Summary

In a corporate-controlled future where the ruling conglomerates genetically engineer their employees, Millicent Foster is the best of the best.

Physically perfect and exceptionally intelligent, Millicent is granted the uncommon privilege of breeding. But her daughter inherits more than superior genetics...little Marie has a rare ability that the world has never seen, and her conglomerate, Moxidone, will stop at nothing to have sole possession of the child.

Teamed with Ryker, the formidable master of security, Millicent must risk everything in a life-and-death struggle to tear her daughter away from the ruling force who wants to own them all. The odds are stacked against them, but Moxidone will learn that the pursuit of perfection comes at a perilous cost - and that love can't be bought at any price.

Bad boy Alpha male romance--NOT sci-fi

This was an unpleasant surprise. It was a free Kindle First book, $1.99 for audio. The synopsis looked interesting and solidly sci-fi. Still, I wouldn't have even paid the $1.99 except that Angela Dawe was the narrator. She's about the only good part of this book. Her performance is always pitch-perfect, her range of voices is amazing, and her men's voices are completely convincing.

But if you're looking for sci-fi, what you'll find is a book written at the self-published level of Alpha- male romance cloaked in a sci-fi wrapper. And that wrapper is full of holes.

I would love to see the return rate of this book. I suspect it will be very high because of the miscategorization.

A fan of K. F. Breene, but now dissipointed

I had to rewind the first 30 min of the book three times because I just couldn't get into it. Halfway through, it became DNF. Super disappointing, since I was looking forward to this audiobook and planned on pre-ordering the next.

The world building was great and easy to imagine. The storyline was also good, but just not for me. It was cold due to lack of emotion. Thus far I enjoyed getting to know K. F. Breene's female characters and cheer them on as they overcome challenges. But this time around, I found the heroine, Millicent Foster's character cold, at times to be both caustic and abrasive and just too jaded. And it had nothing to do with the pills she took to suppress emotions. I had a difficult time empathising with her.

As for the hero, Ryker Gunner, he was a typical Alpha male, best suited for paranormal / fantasy romance. The connection between the two, were, for lack of a better word, lacking.

Overall, I think K. F. Breene does an exceptional job with paranormal and fantasy, and still love her. But, sadly, unlike her other work, I will not recommend Fate of Perfection.

Could have been so much more

Any additional comments?

The premise behind this story is good and the world building is excellent, where the story loses it, is the two main characters.  Millicent and Ryker are just not likable.  Millicent is a homicidal, stuck up, snob with almost zero personality.  The only good trait she has was the love for her daughter.  The story could have been redeemed if we would have seen more interaction there.  But no, we got Trent who was the comic relief/babysitter and the baby barely made a peep as they ran for their lives.  As for Ryker, he was a crude overbearing jerk and his only redeeming qualities were he was attractive and protective.   But with Millicent being quick to kill was he really needed?

This story just could have been so much more.  It could have been heart pounding exciting but without an emotional connection to any of the characters, it just wasn’t there.  But it was entertaining I just never was at the edge of my seat.  I am not sure if I will continue with the series.  The world building is fascinating and intricate I just hope the next set of characters have more redeeming qualities.

Very Enjoyable.. Worth the Credit

I really enjoyed the book; but I must warn the first few chapter are not very engaging. I think I really started enjoying the book after the Millicent became pregnant.

Millicent lives in a futuristic world where powerful Corporations have taken human rights.
People are not permitted to reproduce in this world. In this world people controlled and could be reprogrammed if they are not compliant. People are given medicine to remove emotions and sexual desires.

It was fun to see Millicent learn to love through her daughter and how she was willing to sacrifice everything to keep her daughter. I enjoyed how the different characters learn to love and depend on each other.

I enjoyed Trent, seeing how he world changed and his eyes opened to see that there is so much more to life than what he new. I also enjoyed Ryker, he was a little over the top but at the end of the day he was willing to do anything for Millicent and her daughter.

The look in full of adventure and romance. I am looking forward to the next book.

In my opinion it is worth the credit

Horrible

20 minutes into this book and I knew I was going to hate it, the only reason why I continued to listen to it was because I used a credit and decided it'll make good background noise.

The narrator of this book was fantastic, it's such a shame she wasted her talent on such a horrible book.

Unusual

This was nothing like KF Breene’s other books, but that being said I found it interesting. It was a little slow for the first few chapters but if you stay with it, it gets pretty good. There is lots of action, humor and some intense moments. I really liked the characters and their interactions . I really enjoyed listening to it and have already bought the next one.

OK! I can admit it don't know my sci-fi from.....

My paranormal romance!

Cuz I loved this one. I did some skipping around and over. The tech stuff got a bit too much. But the action and romance was righton!
K.F.Breen does it again and again and ,well, you get it right?!

And the Margaret is spot on. Recognizing who is speaking became very easy and adds a whole mother level of excellence to the experience and
fun in reading, should say listening, to the book ,recording.

Forward and upward to DEVOTION. Wanna bet her sister falls for Trent! Well maybe not, but he's kinda cute, funny and loveable!!

Thanks!
Kaye E. good job! K.F.

A different side of Breene

I throughly enjoyed this story. On to book 2!! I wish it were a longer series than just 2 books. Maybe one day she’ll revisit and add to it. The narrator did a great job with the different characters.

Hackers rule, ok

A very enjoyable listen. Exciting and fast moving (except for a slight drag in the middle ,which soon picked back up ) with a good climax and nice twist in the epilogue .

Only if you love space ship battles

I’m a fan of both the narrator and the writer. This story starts of promisingly and has an interesting premise, with a nice bit of comic relief. However it soon devolves into ENDLESS sequences of the futuristic equivalent of car chases. Not my thing.

Totally engaging!

I personally love K.F Breene and her work! This book is no exception.
It took me a little bit to get use to the narrator, but once I did I loved every second of it!

Sci-fi romance at it’s best

The perfect blend of sci-fi, action and romance, some humour and with minimal sex scenes.
The narrator does a great job to sound like a normal person, instead of a news reporter.
