Publisher's Summary

She’s no sleeping beauty, but then he’s no prince - just a biker warrior to the rescue.

For the past three years Claire "Zara" Flynn has been at the mercy of narcolepsy and cataplexy attacks. But after she witnesses a shooting by the ruthless Iron Hammers MC, her problems get a whole lot worse. She’s now a marked woman, on the run for her life.

Former Marine Jacob "Mac" Miller has a good life with the Charon MC. He works in the club gym and teaches self-defense classes - in hopes of saving other women from the violent death his sister suffered. When the pretty new waitress at a local café catches his attention, he wants her in his bed. But there’s a problem. She’s clearly scared of all bikers. Wanting to help her, he talks her into coming to his class. Mac soon realizes he wants to keep her close in more ways than one. But can he, when his club’s worst enemies come after her?

When Zara disappears, Mac and his brothers must go to war to get her back. Because this time, she wakes up in a terrible place...surrounded by other desperate women, and guarded by the Iron Hammers MC. Can her leather-clad prince ride to the rescue in time to save her from hell?

Love This Series!!

Mac is my hero! This was such a great addition to the series and I found myself laughing often at the commaderi of this group. Narrators did a great job bringing these characters to life and I love David Benin!

Violence Against Women

Sexual violence and women as objects make this a pretty miserable read. Fetishism of sexual assault is not cool.

Decent story, bad narration!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎
Character development: 😌😎🙃

The heroine: Claire ‘Zara’ Flynn - she gave up college to take care of her mother when she had cancer. Now Zara works as a waitress at a local diner. Three years ago her parents were murdered in their home by Bikers. She suffers from narcolepsy with cataplexy, meaning when her anxiety was up, she would fall to the floor and become paralyzed until her heart rate went down and she would fall into deep sleeps at various times.

The Hero(es): Jacob ‘Mac’ Miller - former marine, working undercover for the FBI within the Charon MC. Though he and his two friends are enjoying the MC lifestyle and have been ditching their FBI handler in favor of staying in the MC, especially now that they are full fledged members. Mac works out of the Gym and is implementing self defense courses.

The Story: When a shooting occurs in her diner, Zara suffers from an attack and is paralyzed on the floor an thought to be dead, while the perpetrators check out the scene. She hears exactly what they are saying and knows that they are part of the Iron Hammers MC. Afterwards she runs away from her home and is told by her neighbor about the Charon MC, saying that their territory was the safest place to go since the Iron Hammers won’t go there.

This was told in dual points of view via dual narration. The narrators are Tieran Wilder and David Brenin. I thought both of the narrators sounded too old for the characters. David Brenin has a gravelly voice that sounded like he may have been a smoker, though that doesn’t clash with the MC lifestyle. I almost gave up on this one a few times because the narrators just sounded older than I like.

I was interested in the story and the Character of Zara, so I kept listening even though I really didn’t like the narrators too much. I like a strong heroine that suffers from anxiety issues. I don’t think those are mutually exclusive. Though there were some problems with the story. Some of the scenes just seemed like a bunch of different things that the writer thinks should be included in this type of book which weren’t necessarily needed for the story. Especially things like swearing and filthy talk, which can add to the world building in some books, but just seemed a bit gratuitous to me in this one.

There was also some weird things going on in this book. This was the first book by Khloe Wren that I have read and it was a pretty standard MC romance through most of this book. Though midway through the book the Charon and another MC fought against the Iron Hammer MC. Some of the men from the other MC that were helping out Mac were paranormal, probably shifters, though it didn’t really go into it more than peripherally.

Fighting Mac

This audio book was pretty awesome! The only complaint I have was... these big tough bikers sure were lousy at protecting this poor woman. she did some stupid moves too, but no one seemed smart enough to figure out a game plan.

Bana"female narrator got better. "

Narration got better. Interesting choice of characters. Like the use of her disability, made for a unusual story. Nice twist for a change.

Mac and Zara, Book 2

After the first book, it is fun to discover what Mac, the apparent quiet and easygoing part of the trio who join Charon MC
I also enjoyed the new twist to the story of Zara’s medical condition. Action, romance, self discovery of self and parents…finding out the MC club and was not always the safest nor could you
Predetermine who to trust. Also interested in the
mC from South Dakota..would like to know their story
Looking forward to more books by this author
Also major improvement in the female narrator from book 1…she did an excellent job!

The best book so far👍🔥🔥🔥

Great story and narration. Extremely hot sex scenes 😉 🔥🔥🔥

Quite graphic in the depiction of the books main theme, but this is not a bad thing, as it doesn’t shy away from the sensitive subject matter. Thought provoking and sadly alarming, as I’m sure the topics featured do occur in real life 😢 but will end in HEA🙂

Very well done. Highly recommended, but not for the feint hearted!

another good story

loving the semi hard edge to these MC bikers. the heroine had it tough being afflicted with her disorders but even though they are serious, scary issues Ms Wren kept it on the slightly lighter side so as not to tear up too much of your gut.
story was great, lots of little twists and turns,. I'm wishing audible had more of her writing in the catalogue...
Tieran does great tone inflection with her voice, except the Aussie one, still a bit winceworthy.
David is a bit better at the accent and I'm hoping I can get through book 3 as that's all about Aussie taz so there's a lot of dialogue to be spoken in accent!!
don't quite know how they're going to get out from under their handler though. book 3 will tell I guess
