Publisher's Summary

Lea Lamb and Austin Wolf were young when they fell in love. They never imagined the future could hold anything other than together - forever.

When Lea's father dies in a tragic fishing accident, she's crushed under the weight of her grief and catches a glimpse of another type of future, one she knows she's not strong enough to face.

Austin is angry. For the past 15 years, he's believed the woman he loved with every ounce of his soul left him without so much as a backward glance. When Lea unexpectedly returns to their hometown, all the years of heartache inside Austin bubbles to the surface and presents itself as blinding rage.

Faced with the truth about the past, a newly discovered secret, these former lovers will learn that if they want to have any chance at the future they gave up on all those years ago, they will have to rescue one another from drowning in pain so debilitating it will leave them both fighting to breathe.

Oh sweet angst

My favorite part of this book is that although it was angsty and emotional, it wasn't over top with a ton of back and forth like a lot of books I have read.

This book is full of heart warming sweetness and heart breaking life events. Add in an HEA and a hero that is completely swoon worthy and I am completely in love with this book.

Joe and Maxine were perfection. They always are.

Loved this story!

The story in this audiobook was about a young couple, planning to get married as soon as they graduate high school, whose lives change when a tragedy takes her father. Terrified of losing her boyfriend to the sea like her father, Leah takes off leaving her hometown behind. Fifteen years later she is forced to return to the Alaskan fishing village she grew up in when her mother is dying of cancer. Running into the only man she has ever really loved is painful for both of them and finding their way back is the story. Very well written, sexy hot scenes and superb narration by two of the best narrators, Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden make this book a real treat to listen to!

OK romance

The plot and story line was predictable with no real surprises. The characters are, and do, just what you would expect. I love Joe Arden's narrations.

I can't get enough of this book

Gah! I adore this series so much! I'm not much of an audiobook fan but wanted a different perspective on a book I love so much. Wow! i am so glad I decided to listen to it!

Lea and Austin's story is such a beautiful story about love, forgiveness, and starting over. But listening to it narrated brought it to life in a whole new way. the narrators did an amazing job portraying the characters. I loved every second! Absolutely will listen again!❤

Sweet

Darling book, not as much angst as I was expecting. Not too far off the alpha-hole meter, and I liked the heroine okay.

Been on a Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell kick lately in the last few days of Audibe Escape. Trying to get in as many titles as possible 😢

Fighting to breathe

Loved the whole dynamic of the story. Also how the characters brought the whole thing together. Not to much drama. But just enough. I plan to read more of the series.

You breathe life back into me.

Second chance books are my absolute favorite. Fighting to Breathe takes readers on a journey that’s both difficult and beautiful. People deal with grief differently and for Leah it’s hard but she has Austin. It’s amazing how life can change for the better when you’re with the person that loves you unconditionally. Fighting to Breathe is a memorable book.

Such a great story.

I have read about 10 other books by this author but this book so far has been my favorite! I don’t know what it was about it but I just love lea and Austin’s tale. My heart breaks for them for their lost time together and the reminder that when we are young we can make some awful mistakes but it also soars for what they have and how a love like that can never fail.

I wanted to give more

I really liked the story of these two but I just can't get my head around a women doing a male voice and a female doing a male voice. Personal preference but it's just not my thing.

Just didn't care

The story is choppy
I should have counted how many times "fighting to breathe" was written as it's noticeably used a lot. We get it. It's the title. Returned this one as I was just so disappointed considering how much I enjoyed the Until series by the author.
