People starting out in business tend to seek step-by-step formulas or rules, but in reality there are no magic bullets. Rather, says veteran company-builder Norm Brodsky, there's a mentality that helps street- smart entrepreneurs solve problems and pursue opportunities as they arise. Brodsky shares his hard-earned wisdom every month in Inc. magazine, in the hugely popular "Street Smarts" column he cowrites with Bo Burlingham. Now they've adapted their best advice into a comprehensive guide for anyone running a small business.

This book has great information for people who do not have an accounting degree, or any kind of financial training. However, it is very helpful if you are responsible for managing or overseeing any part of any operation that is supposed to have healthy financials. I believe this book might have been better if I read the hard copy instead of listening to the audio version. but I plan to buy that to accompany this as a reference in the future.

Excellent if you don't have no exposure to finance
What did you like most about Financial Intelligence?
As a broad basic overview it is excellent.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The profit and loss statement was my favourite, although the balance sheet came in a close second. Seriously though, why does Audible continually ask questions like this for non-fiction books??? I think they do it just to push my buttons. I mean I love Audible, but crap like asking non relevant questions for certain types of books should be an easy fix.
What does Tom Zingarelli bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
There is an accompanying PDF, so even if you listen to the audio you can always refer to the PDF where required.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Seriously? Seriously???? Yup, when i read financial statements I always cry, unless of course they are the financial statements of our local or federal government, then I just laugh at the abuse.
Any additional comments?
I have a background in finance and bought this as a brief refresher. For that purpose it was a waste of time. If you do not have a background, or only have a brief exposure to finance/ accounting then this book is an excellent start. Happy listening.
