Definitely worth the listen!

I found this to be an enjoyable read (or listen to since I used the audio version). It held my interest throughout the entire book. And I couldn't wait to see what happened in the end. The only reason this isn't a 5-star for me is that it seems a little forgettable. I read and listen to a ton of books. Some stand out, you can remember every detail, and you are actually mad when the book is over. This didn't happen for me with this book. It wasn't a bad book. I think maybe it just needed a few more pages. Go a little deeper. But hey, what do I know? I struggle with writing reviews. Anyway, I'm glad that I read it. I will probably even read the second one. I have high hopes for the next one actually. Also, the narrators did an excellent job. Having a bad narrator can totally ruin a good story! And these guys did great. I am overall, Impressed.

This was another #AudiobookObsesion book. They give me one of their excellent books, and I write a completely unbiased review. Thanx guys. Your Fabulous #TheFlock

A realistic, gripping thriller

A realistic, gripping thriller

5 stars overall, 5 stars story, 5 stars narration

I am very impressed by the writing talent of this new-to-me author Chris Patchell.  The entire story seems so real.  The action scenes are thrilling, the plotting is strong, and the characterization is top notch.  Every character is nuanced and flawed.  Lacey James is very relatable as a modern woman who does her job well while trying to hold everything together in her personal life.  Lacey is strong, smart, and capable.  She is a good person who wants to keep people safe.  Solving the case is not easy for her, but she doesn’t give up.  I also like the realistic fact that she has to accept help sometimes. In addition, the setting in Oregon was lovely and interesting.

Some of the chapters are from the perspective of the murderous, controlling villain, and I found that difficult to get through.  I am fine with books tracking down a killer, but I don’t like getting inside his head.  However, the villain’s chapters were very well written and do not last long, thankfully.  Note that there are bursts of extreme violence in this book and the kidnapping of a woman. I highly recommend this series to thriller fans.

The dual narration by Cass (Cassandra) Metcalf and Nathin Agin is superb.  They both had pleasant voices that were versatile for all the characters and very emotive.  Their pacing was excellent, and they both added to the entertainment experience of this excellently written thriller.  Cassandra Metcalf and Nathin Agin expertly brought the story to life.

Intriguing but wanted more substance!

I really like how Find Her by Chris Patchell opened up and gave us an intriguing beginning. The story basically covers two main characters, Lacey and Noah. I love how Noah’s character develops throughout the story. I do wish there was more of a backstory and we understood more of his early years. I feel like there’s a very intriguing story there that we get some slight implications of but we only get a feel for it not the entire story. I think that’s the way with most of this story. I get a great story but I’m left wanting more of it. I feel like this would have been a fantastic story with 2 to 3 more hours added to it.

The narration by Cass Medcalf and Nathan Agin did a great job. Medcalf does a great job being a cop and being a woman. You can see her struggle with two of her titles. She wants to be the best mom and wife but she’s always working. I felt like Metcalf was able to really express the emotions and difficulties Metcalf was facing. Agin was also great. I’m honestly not sure if I’ve listened to either of these narrators previously. I was, however, impressed with both of the narrators.I would give the narration a 4 star rating and the book itself a 3 star rating, so I’m thinking an average of 3.5 stars seems pretty accurate.

Captivating!

This was my first Chris Patchell's book, and won't be my last. This is the first book in The Lacey James series, a crime thriller. The characters are interesting: a detective, a stalker, a woman abducted, and a full cast of side characters. The plot is well crafted, and intriguing, filled with danger, intrigue, and twists and turns. I liked the ending. Cass Medcalf and Nathan Agin are new narrators to me. They did an excellent job bringing this story to life. The audio production is perfect. I enjoyed it. Looking forward for more in the series. #TheFlock

Action Packed thriller

This one threw me for a loop but definitely kept my interest. It definitely is well written and fast paced. Even thought it is a shorter book the author did a wonderful job covering all the bases for this mystery. I did listen to this on audio. The narration is very well done.

race against time

First I have to praise the cover of this one. It’s absolutely stunning and really draws you in. This was a great start to a new crime thriller series. I love police officer Lacey James. She’s a smart, strong, and determined female lead. She absolutely won me over. Eden was a great character. Totally relatable and likeable. Noah is a super creepy and obsessive stalker. I love that the story is told in different parts and from different POV’s. It’s difficult not to be enthralled by a story that lets you into everyone’s minds. It’s refreshing and intriguing to watch all the parts intertwine. Chris’ storytelling ability made it impossible to not be totally immersed in this audiobook.

Cass Medcalf and Nathan Agin were perfectly cast for their roles. Their timing, pitch, pace, and tones were spot on. They really brought this story to life. Their characterizations were excellent. They were clearly connected to the characters, portraying each with their own uniqueness. They were exemplary in projecting every character’s emotions. I highly recommend the audiobook version of this book. Thank you to Fireside Audio for gifting me this thrilling audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 Stars Overall

This is the first book I've read by Chris Patchell. It was a shorter listen and was able to listen in one sitting. I was intrigued with the storyline and sitting on the edge of my seat wanting to know how it would be resolved. I loved the title and saw it relating to the book in a couple ways. Great writing, storyline, and characters.

Cass Medcalf and Nathan Agin are excellent narrators. Their performances were emotional and well done.

Suspenseful and exciting!

I love listening to mysteries, and when this was recommended, I jumped in with both ears! This is my first Chris Patchell book, but I am looking forward to listening to more of Lacey James's cases. This is split into 3 parts, and each one is leading us to the answers we are seeking. A stolen tool has the small town on edge as they look for the culprit. Part two introduces us to so much more. The actuality of the crime, and what it leads to and part 3 brings it all together. Lacey James is a realistic detective, with family issues, thoughts of her career and children and then the thinking of a madman. It's amazing taking this adventure, getting in the head of our perpetrator and dealing with the outcome. It's cleverly written and makes me want more.

Cass Medcalf is fantastic as Lacey. She brings to life the feelings of conflict she has with her personal life. Then she uses all her strength to work the case with a focused feel. Nathan Agin is new to me, and what a great introduction! Playing our madman, he is innocent at times with that edge of evil. Loved these two and the book. Can't wait to hear the next one!

Gripping Thriller

I loved the way this story was told and how everything unfolded. It all starts with a hammer and blossoms into an intriguing thriller. The twists were wonderfully done and everything came together so well.

This was my first book by this author but I’ll definitely be checking out more and I am eagerly looking forward to continuing this series.

Review

I was definitely expecting something way different from this book. Maybe because it was a detective book I was expecting way more mystery and crime solving, but that wasn't what happened. However, I still absolutely enjoyed this story. If you're hoping to solve the mystery alongside Lacey, don't. It's not one of those books. Instead, it takes us to the beginning, then from Noah's point of view, back to Lacey. This was different than the normal formula but it worked. I was so drawn in and just couldn't wait to continue to see what happened. It threw me off a little but once I realized what was happening, I was here for it.

Lacey was a decent character. As a whole, I enjoyed her but there was just one part that irked me. Her and her husband are having some issues since he works in a different state. So she blames him for not making time for her and says how his job is his priority but not his family. However, she is guilty of the same thing? Regardless, it works out but it just bothered me. Luckily that was just a small portion of the book and not her whole personality. I will absolutely continue this series and can't wait for the next!

Overall, Find Her by Chris Patchell was a win for me! Moving away from the normal formula for detective novels, this books follows Lacey then Noah before it's "solved". Usually, as a reader, I solve the case alongside the detective but this was done in a different manner, and it worked! I loved this change of pacing and thought it was a very interesting way to do a crime book.

So Loved

Brilliant dual narration from Cass Medcalf and Nathan Agin

I have to say I was pulled in from the start. We start with a theft of a hammer from a local hardware store in Sweet Home, Oregon. We get to know the characters in the first part and in the second section we find out who our villain is and but not until the end do you understand why a hammer.

Noah a security guard who is obsessed with the third person a young women called Eden who is a beautiful red head who works in a shop in the same shopping mall as Noah.

I so want to say such more, but if I do I know I will give away the plot. A great mystery/thriller,

Recommend.

Great Story & Narration🎧 A Thrilling Mystery!

This fantastic small-town crime thriller is well-written with interesting storylines that captivate your attention the entire time. The story starts with the theft of a hammer at a local hardware store in Sweet Home, Oregon. The owner, Sadie, called 911 to report it and Officer Lacey James from Sweet Home P.D. responds to the call, and is on the case, a case that leads them into something much bigger. I enjoyed the author’s writing style and how she presented the story in three parts, starting with what leads them to the investigation, the second part was about the perpetrator and what he was up to and why, the third part brings it all together. Excellent detective work by Lacey James, I loved her dedication to solve the crime and not give up on finding her. It is a cleverly plotted story with plenty of drama, both crime and personal, some angst, mystery, and thrilling suspense that brings you to the edge of your seat. Chris Patchell, thank you for this great story and thrilling ride, I am looking forward to what comes next for Lacey James.
