Publisher's Summary

The New York Times best-selling author of Elevator Pitch and master of psychological suspense returns with a riveting thriller in which the possible heirs of a dying tech millionaire are mysteriously being eliminated, one by one.

"Find You First starts with a bang and ends with an even bigger one.... It’s the best book of his career.” (Stephen King)

Tech millionaire Miles Cookson has more money than he can ever spend and everything he could dream of - except time. He has recently been diagnosed with a terminal illness, and there is a 50 percent chance that it can be passed on to the next generation. For Miles, this means taking a long hard look at his past....

Two decades ago, a young, struggling Miles was a sperm donor. Somewhere out there, he has kids - nine of them. And they might be about to inherit both the good and the bad from him - maybe his fortune, or maybe something much worse.

As Miles begins to search for the children he’s never known, aspiring film documentarian Chloe Swanson embarks on a quest to find her biological father, armed with the knowledge that 22 years ago, her mother used a New York sperm bank to become pregnant.

When Miles and Chloe eventually connect, their excitement at finding each other is overshadowed by a series of mysterious and terrifying events. One by one, Miles’ other potential heirs are vanishing - every trace of them wiped, like they never existed at all. Who is the vicious killer - another heir methodically erasing rivals? Or is something even more sinister going on? It’s a deadly race against time....

Always a solid story from Lynwood Barclay...

This is one of those authors I can always count on for a good mystery. In the vein of Harlan Coben this author takes a “normal“ every day occurrence and makes a menacing story that captivates until the end.
The publisher’s summary is very comprehensive and gives away almost too much of the story. I won’t add to this or I might as well tell the ending!
The characters are believable and fleshed out. They’re flawed and don’t always make the right decisions which makes them more endearing and realistic. The plot is plausible if not feasible.
George Newbern does a great job narrating.
This book is VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Back On Track

Sorry, but Barclay’s last book was highly over-rated. And I’m kinda tired of seeing Stephen King give every Barclay and his other favorite authors trumped up reviews. I don’t trust his reviews much anymore. Critics with starred reviews fare a little better because that designation isn’t handed out that often. And readers on the audible app seem to have hyper-inflated reviews.

Taking this into consideration, Barclay does deliver the goods with Find You First. It is easily one of his more complex books with above average characterizations. And in a rare moment, Stephen King is right-this book is probably Barclays best book yet. His writing has improved especially when he is providing dialogue for his characters as well as when he develops more complex plot twists.

Additionally, Newbern is excellent as the narrator. He brings the characters to life by providing well-developed, unique voices to the many characters in Find You First.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading his books again in the future.

Goodreads Recommended

A good read. I was a little worried that a large cast would abandon readers like me - readers with no short-term memory. But the author and narrator both did an excellent job of keeping names and relationships upfront while continuing the storyline.

I believe this is my first ride with this author; based on this novel I will likely return.

WOW!!

I love a good mystery and this checked all the boxes. I had no idea what was going on until the Author decided to reveal it. I know that is the goal of all mystery novels, but too many of them give away the farm with a weak plot. I have read many of Linwood Barclays books and this one is on par with how brilliant these books are. I highly recommend it.

Not bad

Good character development but way too many actors to keep track of. Story got a little off the rails towards end with some nonsensical actions by characters.
But I did listen to all of it.

Find you Firat

I thought that the book took a bit to catch speed. It turned out better than I would have thought. I laughed out loud while I was driving at a few of the dry jokes at the end.

Fabulous!

This took me a short while to get completely engrossed but when I was…wow! Every time I figured out what was going to happen, the book moved in a different direction. It was marvelous.

The characters were brilliantly written. The narration, which I initially found a bit annoying, turned out to be delightful. And a Winnebago ??? I loved this book.
