Publisher's Summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of Fair Play comes an inspirational guide for setting new personal goals, rediscovering your interests, cultivating creativity, and reclaiming your Unicorn Space.

With her acclaimed New York Times best seller (and Reese’s Book Club pick) Fair Play, Eve Rodsky began a national conversation about greater equality on the home front. But she soon realized that even when the domestic workload becomes more balanced, people still report something missing in their lives - that is, unless they create and prioritize time for activities that not only fill their calendars but also unleash their creativity.

Rodsky calls this vital time Unicorn Space - the active and open pursuit of creative self-expression in any form that makes you uniquely YOU. To help listeners embrace all the unlikely, surprising, and delightful places where their own Unicorn Space may be found, she speaks with trailblazers, thought leaders, academics, and countless real people who have discovered theirs everywhere - from activism to artistic endeavors to second careers.

Rodsky reveals what researchers already know: Creativity is not optional. It’s essential. Though most of us do need to remind ourselves how (and where) to find it. With her trademark mix of research-based, how-to advice and big-picture inspirational thinking, Rodsky shows you a clear path to reclaim your permission to have fun, manifest your own Unicorn Space in an already too-busy life, and unleash your special gifts and undiscovered talents into the world.

The case for carving out the time to pursue what makes you interested and interesting!

There is no better feeling than that "lit up" feeling when you do something that matters to you, brings joy to your world, and gives you meaningful connection to your community. in a world full of to dos, obligations, and distractions, it's easy for time to slip by and realize you've lost that part of yourself. Eve has created a passionate work to make the case that's it's never to late to rediscover, reconnect, and find your Unicorn space. Through hundreds of interviews, and utilizing science based research from experts in a variety of fields, Eve makes a tremendous case for not just the desire, but the need and beneficial impact to individuals, communities, and the world of claiming this space. A must read!

Awful narration

I can’t get through this audio book. The narration is terrible and should be re-recorded by a professional. Too many awkward pauses, little to no inflection, and she sounds like a nervous student giving a presentation in front of class. Maybe the content is good, but I can’t get through the first chapter to know.

Very Hetero

Lots of good ideas in here but it was very bias towards heterosexual couples. I would have liked her interview some same sex families with kids. Long winded at times yet still with the read if you’re struggling with carving out time for yourself.

typical "white" married american woman complaints

I couldn't get through this book. I was so excited because of the title and the interview with Reece. Also because of the supposed interviews with woman all over with different ethnicities and social economic backgrounds.

I am single white divorced woman with two children in their teens.

I found the complaining of being a married woman looking for her own time to be offensive, too much and overly dramatic.

I found the rules of what unicorn space is or isn't to be stress inducing.

I want my Audible credit back!

Lackluster and so wrought with complaints and gripes about how hard it is to be a woman. I had to quit before finishing because I could not find the point of enduring anymore lectures about burning guilt and shame. I suppose this book will speak to someone in a really low space, it wasn’t for me, thankfully!
