Story
Animals bring out the goodness, humanity, and optimism in people and speak directly to our souls. This joyous, inspiring, and entertaining Chicken Soup collection relates the unique bonds between animals and the people whose lives they've changed: such as the dolphins who helped a paralyzed woman heal when doctors offered little hope; the dog who brought life into a failing marriage; the kitten who helped a mother mourn; and the flying squirrel who taught a man the power of laughter.

Story
From the author of the critically acclaimed bestseller, Scent of the Missing, comes a heartwarming and inspiring story that shows how dogs can be rescued and can rescue in return. For her first book, Susannah Charleson was praised for her unique insight into the kinship between humans and dogs, as revealed through canine search and rescue. In The Possibility Dogs Charleson chronicles her journey into the world of psychiatric-service and therapy dogs trained to serve the human mind, a journey that began as a personal one. After a particularly grisly search led to a struggle with PTSD, Charleson credits healing to her partnership with search dog Puzzle. Inspired by that experience and having met dogs formally trained to assist in such crises, Charleson learns to identify abandoned dogs with service potential, often plucking them from shelters at the last minute, and to train them for work beside hurting partners, to whom these second-chance dogs bring intelligence, comfort, and hope.

From the very beginning, Orson was a misfit. Like all border collies, he needed to work. But since there weren't any sheep available for herding in the New Jersey suburbs, Orson instead tried to corral school buses, garbages trucks, and skateboarding kids. So Katz pulled up stakes and moved to a farm in upstate New York. There, Orson improved dramatically - until the day he started nipping people. The nips soon turned to bites, forcing Katz to face an incredibly painful decision.

The last thing Lisa Edwards needed was a new dog. But when she came across an abandoned litter on Halloween, her heart went out to the runt who walked into walls and couldn't steady his feet. Lisa - healing from past abuse and battling constant pain from a chronic medical condition - saw a bit of herself in little Boo. And when he snuggled, helpless, against her, she knew he was meant to be hers. The dunce of obedience class with poor eyesight and a clumsy gait, Boo was the least likely of heroes. Yet with his unflappable spirit and boundless love, Boo has changed countless lives through his work as a therapy dog.

They are not all warm and fuzzy stories in here like I assumed. They all did touch my heart, and some stories were very sad and I shed some tears. The good outweighs the bad, so that's a win for me. Fun, Lots off Short Animal Stories
I received this audiobook free for an honest review. If you like a lot of very short stories of various animals, this is a book for you. The author/narrator puts words in the mouths of animals. With a great imagination, you hear what animals are thinking in different situations. You will hear many very heartwarming stories, as well as diagosis of different behaviours of animals in various situations. The author translates what the animal is thinking. The narrator does a great job of telling these animal stories and voicing what the animal is thinking.

Animal Lovers Will Love it!
This book is a collection of several stories of animals - such a wide range of types! I thought it would be just dogs and cats but it encompassed chickens, rabbits, horses, even a bear. Animal shelters/sanctuaries are brought to life here. The real heroes are the workers, the compassionate caretakers, and the loving animals. The main characters, the animals, really show their personalities and make you wonder who is the rescued and who is the rescuer. Some stories are sad, but they are told so well that there is always hope. All animal lovers will enjoy this book and/or audio. The audio was very well presented too.
I was given a free audio of this book for an honest opinion. I do hope you check this book out and enjoy it as much as I did!

A mixed bag of emotions
I've never been around animal rescue and I didn't realize how heartwrenching some of these stories would be. Some of them were really sweet and some just made me sad. There was laughing and crying. This is not an all sunshine and rainbows book! It really opened my eyes to how traumatic life as an animal could really be, and how there are people out there whose life work it is to make up for other peoples bad behavior!
I enjoyed Joseph Ledfords narration of the book. He was full of emotion and seemed invested in the outcomes of the stories. The sign of a good narrator indeed.

Heartwarming Animal Rescue Stories
Any additional comments?
This is a book of many short stories of animal rescue and the wonderful people behind the rescues. Most of the stories are uplifting and a few are heartbreaking. The stories are about dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, geese, goats, horses, etc. There are also stories of special need kids, PTSD, and therapy animals which were my personal favorite. Animal lovers will surely love this book.

Oh my goodness - tear jerker
Okay so negatives first at the beginning I didn't warm to the narrator but by a quarter way through got it and it worked, so well worth listening and I will be looking for more by this narrator now.
The stories dont expect all warm and fuzzy - you are not going to get it.
We have a Romanian rescue dog and he must have been through hell before he came to us, he still has fears of white dogs and boxers (go figure) so it was really interesting to hear the stories. It is not all dogs - the chicken one, oh my goodness.
This is not an easy listen but so recommend.
