Pierre vows to do what it takes to protect Jordan and Jeremiah and see justice done. He’s willing to fight for the man he’s growing to love and the family he’s starting to think of as his own. Fire and Flint (Audiobook)
Fire and Flint is the first book in the Carlisle Deputies series by Andrew Grey. I have enjoyed this author’s writing for some time and when I saw this novel narrated by Greg Tremblay, one of my favourite voice actors, I immediately one clicked. A hunky deputy sheriff, a sweet man in trouble and a gorgeous little boy provided all the ingredients for one of my favourite kind of romances. I was not disappointed.
Jordan Erichsohn is a sweet hard working young man planning a future career in law and currently in the process of adopting an equally sweet little boy, Jeremiah. Law school has been put on the back burner, as Jordan is determined to make his son his priority, and he finds himself working as an assistant to the powerful, and connected, Judge Crawford. His boss has a reputation for arrogant behaviour, and absolute control, both in and outside of the courtroom. Crawford has made plenty of enemies on both sides of the law and it comes as no real surprise when he begins receiving threatening letters in the mail. Jordan may know more about the motive behind these letters than he is willing to let on, but he needs to keep his head down, and his thoughts to himself, if he is to stay under the Judge’s radar and not jeopardise the adoption process. Crawford is a vindictive man and is certainly not above interfering in that process if it suits his needs
Deputy sheriff Pierre Ravelle is no friend of Judge Crawford. Being called upon to protect him, whilst trying to find the person behind the letters, is certainly not a job he’s looking forward to. That is until he meets the Judge’s decidedly appealing assistant Jordan. His attraction is immediate, but Pierre has a job to do and that doesn’t include getting distracted by the shy assistant. There’s something about Jordan that brings out Pierre’s protective instincts and when he meets his charming son staying distant and professional proves far harder than he’d imagined. When Jordan begins to act skittish Pierre senses he’s hiding something. Gaining his trust will be essential if he is to protect Jordan and Jeremiah whilst trying to solve the case. The real danger may actually be coming from the person he’s supposed to protect, and getting to the bottom of the case will take all Pierre’s skill and perseverance.
I loved the MC’s, and the adorable Jeremiah. The chemistry between Jordan and Pierre went from sweet to sizzling over the course of their story. The danger they faced together, as they began to form an adorable family of three, added extra layers and made for a riveting listen. Andrew Grey’s story combined with Greg Tremblay’s flawless performance made this an audiobook I didn’t want to pause until it’s highly satisfying conclusion. Greg captured the essence of all the characters beautifully, creating a world I disappeared into, with characters I could clearly ‘see’ as I listened. I spent an entire day lost in Fire and Flint and have no doubt other listeners would similarly enjoy this story.
A thoroughly engrossing 4.5 star listen that I have no hesitation in recommending.

Pretty good romance with external problems
This book was fine. The main couple was good people doing their best. I just never really made the connection with them and let the book play to the end without needing to catch everything. Some plot points seemed rushed to me but you might find the timeline forgivable . All in all it was an decent book to read when you need to believe that good ousts evil, a gay man can adopt a kid & find love, and want to listen to the soothing tones of Greg Tremblay.

narration is great, story lacked depth
I liked this story, but... It was superficial and stereotypical. The storyline was interesting and it was paced well. Its main saving grace was that it was narrated by Greg Tremblay, who was fantastic as usual.

Disappointed
I love Andrew Grey stories and the narrator, Greg Tremblay, but this story was just average to me. It had a good plot, but it was the characters that didn’t convince me there was a love story here. One man was preachy and the other was whiny which could have just been from the reader.

Carlisle Deputies #1
A new spin off series told in dual, third person POV, with a bit of mystery and a HEA ending.
Jordan Erichsohn is in the final stages of finalizing the adoption of his son, Jeremiah, and though he suspects his boss, a prominent judge, is dirty, he isn't willing to rock the boat, not if it means losing Jeremiah. When Sheriff's deputy Pierre Ravelle not only believes Jordan, but immediately sets about protecting Jordan and Jeremiah, they quickly fall in love. But they have to contend with Judge Crawford, and they suspect he knows they're onto him, and the only thing standing between Jordan losing Jeremiah is Pierre.
Andrew Grey excels at writing low angst, fluffy, fun, sweet, romances. The relationship in Fire and Flint moves at a breakneck pace, and I will admit I was disappointed that things got tied up a little too easily and quickly (without getting to see the actual comeuppance), but in all, with Greg Tremblay's outstanding narration, this was an easy listen.
Greg Tremblay draws out the character's personalities and makes the story shine. I love his character voices and they way he is able to draw the emotion and tension in the story to the forefront.
Recommended for those looking for an easy, entertaining listen with a sweet HEA ending.

Fire and Flint
Fire and Flint is Book 1 in a new spin-off series by Andrew Grey. If you're a fan of the Carlisle Cops series, you'll definitely want to read the Carlisle Deputies series. This series is set in the same town, only with Sheriff deputies and in this first book, we got some interaction with a few characters in the other series. As an Andrew Grey fan, I am always excited to read anything he writes!
Fire and Flint had a little bit of mystery involved in the story. Sheriff's Deputy Pierre has been assigned a case of protecting a local judge who is getting threatening letters. The judge has a reputation in their town and it's not surprising that people he's convicted may try to retaliate, only as Pierre begins shadowing the judge does he get the impression that there's more going on than at first expected. Pierre also meets Jordan, the judge's assistant. The two men grow close, begin dating and work together to help each other.
These are easy to like characters, with an adorable four-year-old thrown into the mix. I love books with children in their stories, but sometimes children overtake the story and become the complete focus. That does not happen with an Andrew Grey book. He does a wonderful job of making children an important, but not a dominant part of the story, even when they are. A lot of Jordan's storyline involves his son, but I never thought this is just too much of Jeremiah and not enough of Jordan.
This series does a great job of introducing new characters in Carlisle, while letting us have some interaction with previous Carlisle couples. I don't think it's necessary to read the Carlisle Cops series to enjoy this one, but it's a great series so I don't know why you wouldn't also want to read that one too! I thought this book did a great job of portraying issues of living in a small town when someone in power takes advantage of that position. And, like with every Andrew Grey book, the relationship, love and family developed in the story was exactly what was needed for my crusty heart to sigh.
The narrator of the audiobook is Greg Tremblay, who is always fantastic! He does a great job bringing the story to life and giving each of the characters individual voices. He has an easy to listen to voice, has a great pace and no weird pauses.
I’ve both read and listened to this book and I loved both versions of it! I’d highly recommend whatever version you’d prefer, because regardless it’s going to be a terrific story with a wonderful family full of love.

4 Stars!
Sheriff's Deputy Clay Brown is assigned to Judge Andrew Phillips protection after the judge receives threats from a man he helped convict. Harper has escaped a secured transport injuring the Sheriff's deputies in the process and it becomes evident he has plans to hurt Andrew. Clay and Andrew haven’t exactly met under the best circumstances and each have preconceived notions about who the other man is. One thing they both have in common is their intense need for control and now that they are thrown together like this they’ll have to get past it.
Soon they find that they have much more in common than they ever realized and they aren’t really who they perceived in the beginning. They have an intense attraction that isn’t easy to deny and soon find themselves in deep. Life has a funny way of throwing things in your path though and Andrew finds himself with custody of his 4 and 7-year-old niece and nephew when his sister is hospitalized for severe depression. Now, he’s trying to hide from a crazed fugitive hell-bent on revenge, take care of his sister’s kids and navigate a new relationship.
Fire and Granite is basically a sweet romance with a touch of suspense and some fun action. It went fairly quickly and kept me quite entertained. I enjoyed listening to it while I puttered around my house doing various projects and before I even realized it was over and I was wondering who we would get to meet next time around. I hope Book 3 comes out soon.
I’d definitely recommend Fire and Granite to fans of Andrew Grey. I’m not familiar with the series that came before this but I might just have to check it out now.

Love Tremblay's narration
I have to confess... I'm not really an Andrew Grey fan. His books mostly ends up on the okay scale and I'm never first or even in line for his new releases. On the other hand, I am a huge fan of Greg Tremblay. He is an awesome narrator. And as I'm also a big fan of mystery and suspense novels I decided to give this book and series a chance.
Jordan Erichsohn's life is on track. He's in the process of adopting a special boy and has a job he really enjoys. That is until letters starts arriving threatening the life of the judge he's working for. Enter deputy Pierre Ravelle who's been assigned to the case to find the author to the letters and protecting the judge. The two starts working together to piece the puzzle together, and soon they both realise there is something more between them.
The love story between Jordan and Pierre was everything that I've come to expect from Grey. Fast paced to the point of insta-love. I liked them as individuals, but the meet-to-love was so quick and I just didn't believe in it. But then again, I didn't really expect any different either, hoped maybe, but not expected. The mystery part however I liked, I'm always a fan of those, and it was a nice break from the sweet, sweet love and sugar fest this book would have otherwise been.
Greg Tremblay is fantastic, amazing and wonderful - to say the least. I love to listen to his narrations - or performance of the books. He adds such feeling to it that it takes you to that place and that time. Walking alongside the characters, and fighting beside them. He makes you feel what they are feeling, in a way that just reading the words don't always do by their own. To keep it short and simple: pure perfection.

Great narrator and story.
I loved the narrator. He did a wonderful job.
I found the beginning of this series had a good balance of outside story and relationship building, which is what i like reading.

as great as the ebook series
The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. Greg Tremblay is one of the narrators, I'm able to listen without problems to follow.
I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.
