The world crashed to pieces on June 23rd and Adrian Ring wasn't anywhere near ready for it. He had no guns, no food, no friends around, a cat that wanted to slip out the back of the condo and a girlfriend trapped in the heart of the city. This is the story of how he survived. Real, flawed, and raw, Dark Recollections is Adrian's own story of how he survived after "That Day". Told through his eyes as he talks to his laptop, affectionately named "Mr. Journal".

Story
The Alt Apocalypse is the ground-breaking, genre-bending series from Tom Abrahams. It explores survival under the most extreme circumstances, but with a twist (and no cliff-hangers). This series, which can be listened to in any order, features the same core characters in each complete story. But every book dunks them into a new, alternate apocalypse; a nuclear holocaust, an earthquake, a flood, a wildfire, a hurricane, a plague, and even zombies.

Publisher's Summary
Fourteen years have passed since the virus ripped through the global population, crushing the modern world and leaving the cities crawling with the infected.
The immune who survived the violence of the collapse fled to remote havens like Balmorhea, a tiny town in the desert of Far West Texas. There, a few hundred Normals made a go of it, building walls, farming the dry dirt, and learning to thrive together.
With them, Zed and Murphy, survivors of the infection are different but still human. Distrusted and despised because of what they are, they're still the first to fight when the hordes maraud out of the wastes.
Now, a new menace is lurking beyond the horizon, threatening to destroy everything they've built. Will they survive the savage violence sweeping across the desert, or will they be consumed by the firestorm?

Gets too much part way through.
I loved the original series but the rape scene or almost rape scenes are just too much for me. I get it’s the end of the world but in this book the author crossed a line he hasn’t before. I don’t get why he had to include those scenes, it added nothing to the overall narrative. Could have made me hate some of the characters another way. Instead I had to listen to detailed descriptions of rape to get through the story. Won’t ever listen to this guy’s work again.

Great finish to the Main Story!
Bobby adairs masterpieces have me chuckling at work all day listening to a post apocalyptic survival story. No matter how serious the book can get it always has me smiling or laughing a few minutes later somehow but not in a annoying way, one of the best authors I’ve come across. If you’ve read/listened to books 1-9 this is a must read! I’d love a mini series continuing the adventure! Books 7 or so had me deeply disappointed over a characters demise just for an awesome twist later on to redeem my love for this series! Awesome just awesome.
If you enjoyed this series check out the mountain man series it’s fantastic and just gets better and better like this series although I was hooked pretty early on this one

I thought this was going to be No10 an authers regurgitation money spin for fans but again... I was wrong. Despite being a long time since I did 1 to 9... It had me back in familiar ground quickly. If you are hesitant DONT BE. BEST ONE YET.
The humor and banter between our favorit duo is on point in this book. Parts of it I found frustrating with me thinking one thing about our main charicter and getting sick of his angry ass bullshit but... I was wrong in the end... and I can't say more without spoiling shit. So buckle up, and enjoy.
