Publisher's Summary

Locryn Barnes knows what it means to be a fixer for Torus Intercession. Torus is the place that people in need turn to for everything from bodyguards to chaperones, and God knows Loc is the kind of man who'd rather play human shield against a bullet than spend even a moment of his life as a glorified babysitter. Which is why he tells a prospective client, in no uncertain terms, that he's not the right fixer for the job when Torus is tapped to play what amounts to a life coach for a spoiled, burned out, fresh-out-of-rehab rock star.

Nick Madison has been living on the edge since he was 17. Now, at 26, aimless and on the verge of losing everything, he can't seem to give a damn. When he wakes up one afternoon, hungover and strung out, to find a stranger in his house ordering everyone around like he owns the place, Nick is sure he's woken up in his own little corner of purgatory. Nick is determined to prove he doesn't need anyone's help, least of all from the walking, talking definition of infuriating.

Nick has met every challenge and is finally ready to spread his wings and fly, but not alone, which means another daunting challenge to face. Now, Nick needs to convince the fixer that the rock star is his happily-ever-after. Which could prove to be Nick's biggest challenge yet.

delightful

I've loved this entire series and this one is certainly up to par! I think the relationship between the two of them ended up being really healthy. When I first read the summary I was a little bit concerned because an addict should never date their sponsor and that's the vibe I initially got. But in the end, the transition from 'fixer' to boyfriend, I felt, was very healthy and didn't rub wrong. I loved the level of communication and openness between pretty much everyone, But especially the main characters. That's not to say they didn't argue, (they were at each other's throats throughout the healing process) but once they settled into a dynamic, when there was a disagreement they talked about it and didn't let anything fester. I love to see that in any relationship, and reading about it makes my heart happy! This is low angst (between the couple) with twists and turns of family and outside forces that they navigated both separately and together. I loved Tristan James's take on these characters, because Loc is supposed to be very level-headed, And throughout the book Tristan James gave a very steady feel to this character. I thought he was a great choice because he never over exaggerated voices which made them feel more real to me. The way this book is written it could have easily been overdone with how many characters there are, and the slight variations he did, I felt, made it more grounded. With The topics discussed in this book and some of the crazy situations that are addressed, it could have easily become chaos and I think Tristan James did a great job at ensuring it never did even in the middle of a giant Rockstar sized party, You always got the sense that Loc could handle it and would never get overwhelmed, which was crucial for the success of this story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would absolutely recommend it! Thank you Tristan James and Mary Calmes for giving me a few hours of wonderful escape from real life!

Horrible narration. Do not recommend!

This series is one of my favorites by this author and I couldn't wait for this to be released. I have read this book twice and I am so thoroughly disappointed that this wonderful story was absolutely destroyed with this narrator. I couldn't stand to finish it... just unbearable. The best I can explain is it is like listening to a high school kid struggling to read a poem.. maybe even if the kid didn't speak English as a first language.

I almost always give 5 star ratings, in every category, mostly because I only purchase audio books from books I have already read. So... when you read this review know that I am not a negative reviewer picking something to death. Quite the opposite, I am just so upset that this author approved releasing this horrible quality of her book.

Very Entertaining

Really enjoyed this book and the banter between the MCs - It was as enjoyable as the banter between Ian & Miro in the Marshall's series. Some very witty writing. I laughed a lot and really had a good time with this book, This series gets better book by book.

Loc is a great character, Mary Calmes is one of my favorite authors and Tristan James is one of THE best narrators so all put together - how could I not love this book. Tristan James adds so much to every book and I listen to almost all of his narrations - his voice is so sexy and deep and he just adds that something extra.

Great series, but needs better narration

First I will say it's a good story, though I think I like the first two books of this series better.

I just really wish they all had better narration. This one I think is the worst. Though Tristan James has a pleasant enough voice, his performance is very lack luster with little emotion. Also, man or woman, all the characters sound the same which can get pretty confusing.

This is a great series and I'm looking forward to the next one. However, if the narrator isn't any better, I will be sticking to the ebook.

I’m torn

Loved this book. Loves the author. This series is awesome. However, why did we decide to use Tristan James. His tone is so flat. Hardly any inflection. Please use a better narrator.

Good story. Good narration.

Once again, Mary Calmes has created another sweet romance with a dash of action and endearing characters.

This entry in the Torus series focuses on Locryn. We get a chance to see the warm fuzzy side of Locryn's character, and we get to see what happens when he feels compelled to use that part of himself on the job. Yes, there is some angst and a bit of chaos.

This was a fun story with a good narrator, and it made a great addition to the Torus series.

Lots of luv for Mary Calmes

Just love all of Mary Clames books. Even if narrator is lack luster the story always keeps me hooked. The narrator for this book has done some other books by Calmes and is enjoyable. Some others are better if you adjust speed of narration. So be sure to check out some other Calmes books.

Out of all the books so far in this series.

This one made me tear up several times Lock with all his anger issues is tasked to rescue a singer song writer from himself. In the process he learns a little more about himself that he didn’t know existed. These two are clueless in the beginning but the slow burn between the two of them is just hot. Good story.

Love this book

I love the characters and the storyline of this book. The way the relationship grows between the two main ones is very well drawn. Though maybe this wasn't the best book for the narrator, but he was still OK.
