Story
Zane Phillips mistook me for his dog walker. It shouldn’t surprise me that the man with a suit more expensive than my rent would assume that I was there to serve him. The positive? I put him in his place. The negative? I missed my job interview because of it. Now I find out he’s a rich Australian entrepreneur, and he wants to make up for tanking my interview. Yes, he’s impossibly hot - but he’s also an arrogant jackass - so...no thanks. But after a little white lie I tell spirals out of control, I’m somehow offered the chance to play Zane’s girlfriend to help promote his new dating website....

In one second, my life disappeared. My past. My memories. My future. The only certainty I have from the last three years is that my older brother is dead and that I am the only eyewitness. In order to protect the case, the lawyers demand no one give me any information about my life...I must remember on my own. My only help comes from my brother’s best friend and world-renowned investigative reporter Spencer Cross. He has no idea how many nights I’ve spent dreaming of his name—and his body—next to mine. I was never supposed to see him again. Him being the man wearing the perfectly tailored suit, who oozed an intoxicating mixture of wealth, rebellion, and sex appeal. One night. No strings. No names. Still riding the high from last night, I walk in to meet my new client, and he’s wearing that same dangerous smirk. Yes, I’m consulting for Callahan Sharpe. That Callahan Sharpe. Billionaire heir who abides by no rules, bucks convention, and is determined to complete one final project to honor his late father’s legacy. Luckily, and unluckily for me, I’m tasked to help.

At first, the request seemed simple - sign a new athlete to the agency. Then I found out the new athlete was none other than the most wanted man in hockey today: Hunter Maddox. Gifted. Sexy. At the top of his game. And the only man who has ever broken my heart. If signing him will help save our family business, I’ll swallow my pride and do what’s asked. But when it becomes clear his uncharacteristic antics off the ice are a hint of something deeper, keeping things strictly professional between us becomes more than complicated. But I know better than to cross that line.

The first time I met Merrick Crawford was during my job interview. Well, technically, I’d met him 20 minutes earlier when he’d barged into a fitting room a few doors down from my appointment. I yelled. He yelled. After an argument while standing in my bra, I proceeded to smash the door into the gorgeous jerk, trying to yank it shut. As you might imagine, I was freaked out when I discovered that the rude guy was my potential new boss. Yet he didn’t seem to recognize me. Or so I thought.... Until we wound up bickering again during my interview and he told me to go sniff my armpit.

Dear Mr. Vega: I felt it necessary to follow up on today’s meeting, since we weren’t able to speak candidly in front of your son. I was shocked to discover that you are Ryder’s dad. I think it would be best if we just pretend that we met in person for the first time today. My love story all started with a letter. Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for. You see, once a year my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months. So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far. While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father.

Publisher's Summary
An all-new flirty, lighthearted, stand-alone romance by New York Times best-selling author K. Bromberg guaranteed to make you swoon.
Blakely Foxx is having one of those years.
Her divorce may have been finalized a few months ago, but her ex is already engaged to someone half her age. Her younger boss is determined to sabotage her chance at getting the promotion she rightly deserves. And to make matters worse, she’s closing in on the big 4-0. There isn’t enough wine or ice cream in the world to convince her things will turn around.
When Blakely meets Slade Henderson, she’s left wondering why a hotter-than-hell cardiothoracic surgeon in his early 30s would take an interest in her.
She’s been warned that he’ll break her heart, but she’s willing to take the chance. Not only is he helping her get that promotion, but in the process, he’s encouraging her to find the parts of herself she’s lost over the past few years.
Slade shows her that good guys really do exist, but who knew the hardest part about turning 40 would be realizing the man you thought was a rebound is actually your happily ever after?

Predictable
I was unimpressed with this book, and disappointed that Zachary Webber didn't narrate more chapters. I'm really tired of the 'insecure woman who needs to be loved to find her strength' trope. To me, this was just a bit tedious and way too repetitive.

Not my favorite
The story was cute and the concept was good but the character of the F was off. She was written as a whining, insecure woman. I get she has baggage but all the conclusions he kept to mostly had to do with being insecure. I love Emma Wilder but I hate it that she had to play this character because she already has a breathy voice and to add all the whining and insecurities made it that more amplified and I almost couldn’t finish the damn book. I have to say this is a fail for me. The high marks are for Slade and Zachary Webber.

Entertaining
From start to finish, K. Bromberg wove a story that drew me in and had me riveted from the first to the last chapter and I was frustrated when real life got in the way of my reading. This is Ms.Bromberg writing at her best with a strong, emotional storyline and characters that you cannot help but fall for and whose story you quickly become invested in.
Blakely Foxx and Slade Henderson were characters that were easy to relate to and I loved the, both separately and especially once they got together. Having recently divorced, Blakely is struggling,; her ex is already involved with another woman, half her age, her boss is being a jerk and she is just about to celebrate her 40th birthday.
She cannot understand how a hot, and successful surgeon could possibly be interested in her. I loved how supportive Slade was and how caring and protective he is of Blakely. He was totally swoon worthy and I fell hard and fast for him as he helped Blakely get her confidence back.
This book was exactly what I've come to expect from K. Bromberg; it was well written, it will make you laugh, it will make you swoon and I loved it.
Emma Wilder and Zachary Webber did an outstanding job with the narration and really brought the story to life for me.

Immature FMC
As a woman who just turned 40 and is teetering on the edge of divorce, I was really put off by the female MC in this book. I understand insecurities, we all have them, but the level of whining and wallowing in this book was reflective of something you’d see in a YA novel, not something about a woman who has had almost 40 years of life experience. I had a horrible boss in my 30’s and struggled to manage it, but I was at the BOTTOM level, not a senior level employee who was offered a VP position and turned it down. It is completely unrealistic that this character would be so mousy with someone who is literally second fiddle. Also, why does she never talk to senior management about the issues she’s having? The other employees talk about the fact that they’ve gone to management. By the time you’re at that level, you know how to handle difficult people like that and if you don’t, you don’t deserve to be there.
As for the relationship, she is an adult. Be an adult and HAVE A CONVERSATION! Jumping to conclusions and making assumptions is for teenagers who don’t know how to communicate yet. I get if she needs time to figure herself out before jumping into a relationship, totally valid (and I’m not a huge fan of a woman needing a man to love and be confident in herself) but if that’s the case, just TELL HIM. Don’t ignore his calls or attempts to explain like a child. I would have like to see some character development so she would have at least had the confidence to talk to him what she felt/though/wanted. When the guy is more mature than the woman it’s hard to believe or relate to.
Anyway, rant done. Overall, I would not recommend going into this book if you are looking for, and excited to see a strong, confident, “older” protagonist. If you want that, read KF Breene’s Magical Midlife Madness series. Here, you will just get more of the same stuff that you find in YA/NA novels except that the FMC is all angsty about the age difference as well as the same old “does he like me, no he can’t possibly, so I’ll convince myself he doesn’t, and ghost him even though I’m desperately in love with him,” BS. I mean is there any woman who actually does that?

This Is What Divorce Feels Like
There are a couple of other reviews stating they didn’t like the female character because she was always complaining and self-deprecating.
I found this book refreshing. When you go through a divorce, women often don’t feel attractive or “good enough.” Been there, done that and I could really empathize with Blakely. I also loved that Slade understood that and really helped her find herself again.
It doesn’t hurt that they had an immediate connection with each other. I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend to anyone. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments mixed in with steamy attraction.

38 year old new divorcee meets 32 year old doctor
Fast moving, sweet, sexy story about Blakey, an intelligent but insecure woman recovering from an emotionally abusive ex-husband and dealing with a envious bullying boss. She meets Slade, a sweet younger doctor in a bar and there is an immediate attraction but wariness mostly with her. A feel good romance with some minimal angst. Blakely is very relatable if occasionally repetitive and Slade is almost too good to be true. The ending was quick- an additional epilogue would have been great maybe with some of the happy ending. Narration is good. Worth a credit if you like romance.

Blakely and Slade
I really liked this story about Blakely having a midlife crisis after her husband divorces her and he turns around and gets engaged to a younger version of her. Slade sees her at the bar and they end up talking about what she feels has gone wrong with her life. He steps away to take a phone call and she gets cold feet about being attracted to a younger man. He doesn't get her contact information and feels like he's missing out on a good thing with her. Fate brings them together and takes them on a journey of self-discovery and growth for both of them. I thought Emma Wilder and Zachary Webber were perfect as the narrators. I can't wait for K. Bromberg's next book. She always writes such wonderful books.

All the feels, I loved it
Oh my, what a truly wonderful, feel good audio. 39 year old divorcee Blakely Foxx meets 31 year old cardio thoracic surgeon (say that 3 times fast) Slade Henderson when she’s at a really low point in her life. Slade is fun, flirty, sexy, endearing and just what Blakely needs. When Slade agrees to go on a mountain retreat with Blakely they both get more than they bargained for. Let’s face it, their chemistry was off the charts, so a few nights away was always going to be ‘more’. Slade was just perfect, always boosting Blakely’s ego and tamping down her inner demons (of which she had a few, thanks to her jerk of an ex). Such an enjoyable audio, made so much better with perfect narration narration from two of my favourites, Emma Wilder and Zachary Webber. All the feels, I just loved it.

LOVE this story!
Funny,sweet,sexy,sassy and a little emotional.
I simply love this book. Life is more than just the 20's, life continues, it doesn't end, there is so much more to experience - and that's why this book is so perfect. It tells a story about a life altering situation and it also tells a story about how life isn't over simply because you're flirting with 40.
Also, amazing narrators

Just loved it.
A book which apart from having a lovely plot and storyline also has a dose of reality and real life in it.
Additionally. This book finally allows the idea of there being love after 30 or 35 and 40...
Guess I'm just am old soul 😁

One of my favourites of the year hands down
I read the ebook of this story before listening to the Audio, I loved the ebook but rarely have time for re reads so Audio is the perfect option for me to revisit my favourite stories. I couldn't picked two more perfect Narrators for Slade and Blakely then Emma and Zachary they both nailed this performance and gave me all the feels I got from reading the book through originally. The scenes (and there were many) that I loved just felt elevated and brought to life more by their performance. Flirting with 40 is an easy listen, a feel good novel with a great level of humour and romance. For me this Audio is one of my top listens of the year and I could have it on repeat and not get bored.

AMAZING
This was an amazing audiobook. Surprisingly, I thought there would be a bit more insecurity about age but it is only actually briefly mentioned as a bad thing. The main aspect of this story is about a woman having been newly divorced and wanting to be able to do something right for once. She hopes that one thing could be her job which is just as grueling as her marriage but she loves what she does. In her loss of what to do, she meets Slade who, while he is younger than her, gives her a new perspective and offers to help her out. This is their story and how that choice changes each of their lives. The narration was amazing, and the storyline just as good. I would definitely recommend this book and hope you decide to read it. Enjoy!

The storyline kept me listening.
I'm new to audiobooks and both of these narrators, but I found them hard to listen to. That said, I loved the storyline, the growth of the characters, the whole premise of this book, was beautiful!
