Publisher's Summary

The founder of Latina Rebels and a “Latinx Activist You Should Know” (Teen Vogue) arms women of color with the tools and knowledge they need to find success on their own terms.

For generations, Brown girls have had to push against powerful forces of sexism, racism, and classism, often feeling alone in the struggle. By founding Latina Rebels, Prisca Dorcas Mojica Rodríguez has created a community to help women fight together. In For Brown Girls with Sharp Edges and Tender Hearts, she offers wisdom and a liberating path forward for all women of color. She crafts powerful ways to address the challenges Brown girls face, from imposter syndrome to colorism. She empowers women to decolonize their worldview, and defy “universal” White narratives, by telling their own stories. Her book guides women of color toward a sense of pride and sisterhood and offers essential tools to energize a movement.

May it spark a fire within you.

Must Read for BIWOC

This is for all the Locas, Brujas, Chongas, Cholas and those who need a framework to combat the constant oppression by the colonizers and take back our power.

Amazing

You’ll never be the same. Having my daughter and sons read this as well as her writing will have you reflecting on what we’ve been conditioned to believe and find your self in the process.

Love Story to Latinx/e Mujeres

Was recommended this book by a friend who knows me and loves me very much and it did not disappoint. I loved that the author read the book because you could really hear the vulnerability, fierceness and tragedy in her voice. I loved how she talked about her relationship with her parents and what it means to see them through their experiences instead of her experiences. Thank you Prisca for this gift.

Beautiful

This book was a love letter and a call to action for BIPOC, disadvantaged communities, and women of color. Read by the author as well. It was empowering, insightful, and shattered open the feelings I personally closed off regarding my exsistence as a minority. I finally felt like I had someone who I could relate my experiences with. Very thought provoking, I highly recommend!

A beautiful masterpiece

What a beautiful book! I am so grateful to have found this book. It gracefully put words to many experiences I knew and didn’t know I’ve had internally and externally. It is such a beautiful gift to BIWOC. I plan to buy the hard copy as well, which I’ve never felt like I needed to do after listening to an audiobook. I loved this book!

Finally Seen

Prisca Dorcas Mojica Rodríguez writes her lives experiences in a way in which women of color can see themselves in. For me this book cause me to finally let the breath I have been holding in out. She made me feel seen. She knows the importance of humanizing not only her experiences but the experiences of so many women of color that go untold.
