Publisher's Summary

Harley Vincent is resigned to life in the human world. Sure, being a margay shifter is half her nature, but life among humans gives her the freedom to roam and do as she pleases. That is, until anti-shifter extremists target her, putting her life in immediate danger.

When an old acquaintance and onetime fling, Jesse Dalton, shows up to offer the protection of his pack, Harley hesitates. She may have feelings for Jesse that go beyond their one-night stand, but life among shifters means giving over her independence to the needs of pack. Plus Mercury Pack has its own threat to face: a rich half-shifter is determined to claim their territory at any cost.

Jesse, who lost his true mate as a child, has wanted Harley since their night together, and he's not letting her go again. They may not be destined for each other, but he knows she belongs to him and with his pack. Even if he can convince her to join him now, can he convince her to stay?

Another great book by Suzanne Wright! I love all of her shifter books! These books are all action packed, humorous and Hot! This is a spin off from the Phoenix Pack series and besides missing Greta's snark, I love this series just as much as the first! Jesse and Harley are a perfect pair! As always Jesse is a growling bossy man and Harley is feisty and gives him a lot of hell! This book is crazy Hot and has a lot of action within the pack! I love that we get to visit with the Phoenix Pack members here too!

The narration is great, even if she does seem to get into chracter so much that it's like she is yelling at you on occasion lol

It was ok

I'm a huge fan but I have to say this was my least favorite in this series. Usually I can't put them down but with this one it just didn't grab me like all the others. It did make me begin to listen to the series from the beginning though!

Finally the Imprinting Story

We all love Wright's True mate themes but were wondering if the secondary characters were cheating themselves by imprinting rather than waiting for their true mate. The answer kids is no they weren't cheating themselves and by taking the imprinting theme on head on in this book she opened up a world of possibilities for her packs. They are no longer tied to just finding another wolf shifter in a world full of shifters.

The introduction of a new shifter species and different types of packs such as prides will broaden the world she created allowing for more humor and fun. The love is as good fated magic thing is pretty great too.

I was looking forward to this but.....

I have enjoyed this series, along with Jill Redfield reading. I'm not sure why but Jill changed her reading style and I found it irritating. It was sing-song and I had a hard time finishing it.

Weakest story in series

The author's and narrator's voices both sounded "off" in this book. I'm no prude as anyone who reviews my library can attest, but the inconsistencies in the storyline kept it from offsetting the heavy sex. ( ex: she's a musician performing at a nightclub; but at her mating ceremony she "doesn't like to be the center of attention". Where did I miss her stage fright or fear of performing? her angst and pushing herself to go out on the stage? Nada. Nichts. Nyet. If I'd read this book first, I would never have bought the others. I really got a feel in the work that Wright was spending time reading Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series (scents) and her Psy-Changeling series (cat & wolf shifters)....both of which are excellent.

Another great story....

Loved the adition to the series. At first the story started as if it was a different narrator. Then after a chapter or 2 the original voices returned. Can't wait for the next book, keep them coming....

Not the best addition to the story.

This book made me mad at the Mercury pack, most of them started out as assholes to Harley at the beginning of the book. I was disappointed in the pack, who by now I consider my friends. They do turn around quickly, but it soured my enjoyment of the book. This was not one of my favorites from the series. I'm also not a fan of couples who have already been together, but then for some unknown reason separate, then get back together. Very few authors can pull this off. I still liked it okay and it made my day go by quickly at work, so there is that. I also love the kids, Willow had me cracking up. This is a series that should be read in order, starting with the Phoenix series. Narrator does an good job, and I would happily listen to anything she narrates.

Jill Redfield does a stellar job of narrating this book and voicing the different characters. It was a great story and I enjoyed it immensely.

You can't beat Suzanne Wright. Great book!

What's not to like? love all the characters both old and new. They are so intense, funny and oh so sexy. I have read all of the Phoenix Pack and Mercury Pack books and I am hoping that there will be more as they are just the best and are all my favourites. Jill Redfield is an amazing narrator, I just love the way she brings each character to life and with such enthusiasm :)

If you like hot shifter romance with some great storylines and some hot, hot, hot lourvin ..... then I highly recommend this author, these books as all are so worth the credit. I'm sooooooo jealous of those of you just starting on these series, I've read them all more than once, and I can say that they are all my favourites. ENJOY, you won't be disappointed!

Excellent!

I was glued to the story from first starting to listen to it. I now have had to buy the next three books so I can carry on listening to the story. I love it when I can follow a series and the characters are the same but the stories are centred on different people in the pack. I feel part of the family and I am with them in the woods or pack dens. I find myself smiling when the characters do and am very sad when they are. The mark of a really good author. Thank you for writing the story.

Jesse & Harley belong together true mates or not

I honestly could sing Suzanne Wright's praises all day long. These intertwined series hit the mark every time. I have no idea how despite the length of these books and the 2 series in general that she keeps coming up with new stories that completely hook me, absolutely every time.

I don't think I have ever looked stranger than when I'm listening to these books on audible while out for a walk grinning like a loon at either something swoony the characters have done, a cheesy line that has been dropped, a prank that has been played, or the pure joy of the love the characters feel and show throughout.

I truly love this series and anything by Suzanne Wright. I will read and listen to it again and again.

Jesse Dalton knows he wants Harley Vincent he's known it since he was a teenager. Three years ago he finally got a taste of her and while he let her run then, her time is now up. As soon as she set foot in LA he decided that there would be no more running Harley Vincent was finally going to be his.

Harley has been living in the human world with her human Aunt Tess for a very long time, it's not that she doesn't like her shifter side but the shifter world never really took care of Harley so when her very uptight grandparents expected her to act human she simply just did it. But now with her father Clive being news again as a possible founder of the movement, Harley is being harassed not just by a nosey reporter but also by extremists.

When Jesse's packmate has a vision of Harley's car exploding he decides time is up. It's time Harley came to realize what Jesse already knows and that is they belong together. He shows up at Harley's workplace with Bracken and Xander they diffuse the bomb and approach Harley. While she is stunned to see Jesse it's the fact that he is determined to take her with him back to his pack that really floors her. Despite her reluctance, she agrees to go.

Jesse has no intention of letting Harley leave his territory never to return again, Mercury Territory is her home now. She may have been shocked that he brought her to pack territory and to his very own lodge, but he's about to drop an even bigger bomb on her. He intends to claim her, not just for a night, or just for now, but for good. He knows his true mate is dead and he's known since he was a teenager that Harley would be his mate. He doesn't care that she is giving up the possibility of finding her own true mate she is his and that is all there is to it.

A highly dominant female like Harley has no intention of just bowing to Jesse's will. He'll have to prove to her that he will be a loyal mate and that Harley will be more than second best to his true mate because she won't have him any other way.

Meanwhile, the pack has problems with the owner of the land bordering theirs. A half shifter Hector Flynt wants the Mercury Pack to leave their land and sell it to him and he will do whatever it takes to get them out of his way. They have no plans to give up their home and do everything in their power to find a way to get Hector to back off.

While their plans move forward and they gain ground on Hector they never expected the attack that comes in retaliation. They never expected him to go after the pups. Somehow the pack must survive a battle and then save their pups, destroying Hector will be exactly what he deserves.

Happy Listening

Great Narration but not a true HEA for me.

Read through KU whilst also flicking and listening to the audible version too. What a great idea to Read and Listen. Very handy using my headphones when doing stuff around the house. I don’t lose the flow of the story.
Will be buying all the audible books over time.
I have to say the narrator for this book was one of the best with an enjoyable narration. Lots of inflections and I could tell most of the characters apart.
BOOK REVIEW
Harley and Jesse have a past history.
Loved the actual plot and found it a good read, especially with what happens to the pups but dragged down by the non HEA for me. Lovely having interaction between the two packs again.
Jesse is a bit of a jerk at the beginning. He has known he wanted Harley as his mate for three years, basically stalked her and knows everything about her but seems to believe she has to come to him.
He is actually a bit of an opinionated bully towards her.
The fact he knows he wants her as his mate has not stopped him being with other women. I dislike that fact a lot.
Harley had wanted Jesse for ages too but the poor girl didn’t even know he was interested and put their one night of sex down to being what it was, One Night.
Really liked Harley with her disdainful cat attitude and how she just threw people as she had no interest in who they were. She was confident in herself and really didn’t care what others thought.
The same uninspiring basic baseline flows through this story too.
Emotional baggage is blocking the bond forming until something bad happens. Unfortunately, I was really annoyed that these two only imprinted to form the mate bond and are NOT True Mates.
Jesse's true mate died as a child, so he is free to choose anyone he wants.
Harley is like second best for Jesse not matter how he explains he is different now than he was then.
Harley says she is fine with the fact she is not his soul mate but that does not feel true. Harley's True Mate is possibly out there somewhere, so what will happen if she runs across him one day? She has forsaken him to suffer a torment and level of pain that has been described in previous books as being excruciating for the forsaken mate. How is her imprinting on Jesse fair to her True Mate?
Right till the end I thought it would go the same as many of the previous books and they would be True Mates but this did not happen.
This fact ruined this book for me.
Read through KU whilst also flicking back and forth and listening to the audible version too. Very good narration.

the love story to the fore

I was waiting for the true mate bomb to drop. 1st imprint I've read. I wasn't sure if I'd take to Jesse as he wasn't an original thru the Phoenix pack. but all good as it forked at the junction and took the road less traveled so a lead....love and not war
