Methodical, relatable, compassionate

I never heard of an eating disorder being referred to like an illness with the goal for it to be permanently in remission. This helps put the guilt and shame to rest thinking it’s all my fault and I could control this. I’ve already learned so much from this 7 step plan making recovery feel so much more in reach and not impossible. I have some healing to do but I’m ready to fully implement everything I learned and be fully free from my eating disorder.

An incredible beacon of hope

From the start I loved the author’s way to help me understand the complexity of an eating disorder and it reminds me of many struggles I’ve had in my life with addiction. I couldn’t help but be sad but also encouraged by the authors inspiring hope!!

refreshing approach

A refreshing approach to dealing with an eating disorder. Sometimes it can feel like you're a fish out of water trying to stop something you know nothing about. That's why I thought the first chapter about why we develop eating disorders was so valuable. You can almost reverse engineer yourself out when you truly know the root cause. Well narrated and structured with tons of actionable information. Would recommend.

Awesome audiobook!

I love how Freed and Fierce starts with Ch 1: The Psychology of Eating Disorders- Why Some People Develop them and Others Don’t. It is a great starting point to one’s road to recovery and is so important to know why some do or do not develop the disorder. For those that do, the author does an amazing job of explaining each step through 12 chapters that provides a renewed mindset for recovery. This is a must listen audiobook!

Powerful

I listened to this book before referring it to a friend who’s struggling. Love that it begins with a mindset discussion; nothing else will work if you’re not in the right frame of mind. Then, the author circles back to it later in the book with exercises to retrain the brain so it recognizes healthy patterns vs. unhealthy ones. Also to reduce anxiety about weight. The author really makes you see that you CAN come back from an eating disorder. ❤️

I was amazed after listening to this informative book!
This is very supportive and helpful for those who are struggling to recover ED.

The author shared her experience with all of us to bring positivity in our life, and I like this book most because the author did not discuss her experience only but also she recommended a good and healthy diet with reliable exercise.
It is easy to follow in daily life.

Beautiful

This approach for eating disorder recovery is one I’ve never come across. This book is written by someone who has had experience with an eating disorder and has come through the other side and now knows what it truly takes to recover.Amazing. Her holistic approach and words are for the eating disorder sufferer but also will help them to not only recover forever…but also to thrive!

Start your recovery journey!

I did not know that eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness until I listened to this audiobook. This book has great information and tips on the psychology of eating disorders, It also provides tips on building confidence and self-esteem, and coping skills so that we never feel alone when it is time to fight our battles. It also offers you strategies to put your healing journey into practice day by day.

This audiobook includes a list of the essential macronutrients and vitamins our bodies require as well as where to obtain them in whole foods. It is enlightening to learn just how powerful a positive mind can be in terms of one's recovery. There are end-of-chapter exercises that help you implement what’s taught in each chapter which makes this book very practical. This is highly recommended for anyone struggling with an eating disorder!

Very Informative

Thank you for being so transparent. I've suffered from overeating for years. It was the result of childhood trauma. I, too, have gotten a hold of this through therapy. This is a necessary conversation to have with many!

Excellent and Informative

I have a friend who has an eating disorder and I will definitely be sending this book her way. It's a great audiobook packed with essential information, insights and guidance. In fact I would say if you have this book, there's no need to do any extra research anywhere else as the content covers everything you need to know. And it's presented clearly and is easy to understand. It was enlightening to learn just how powerful a positive mind can be in terms of one's recovery and I also found the information about nutrition to be excellent. The author should be commended for such a powerful and informative book. If you are trying to recover from an eating disorder, or just want to learn more about the subject matter, then I highly recommend!

Life-changing help

Eating disorders is something people don’t want to talk about, but they should because it’s very important. I’ve listened to other eating disorder books, but this one was unique. One thing I really liked about this one is that it says you need a vision. I hadn’t thought about it that way before, but it makes total sense. To make a new future, you have to have a vision of what that new future will be. You will never achieve your goals if you don’t have any.

Your body is so precious!

This audiobook took a senstive approach to a highly emotive topic. Unfortunetly, I have witnessed friends in the past try to recover from various eating disorders. All of them were intelligent, high-achievers who didn't believe they were enough. They used food as a form of control. I wish I could go back in time and share this audiobook with them. The positive body messages that could be adpated into affirmations at the end of the audiobook particularly hit home.

Informative book

A much needed book

I used to know someone who suffered from an eating disorder and looking back it was a very distressing situation. That’s why audiobooks like this are SO important. The author effectively tells her own story and then shares a lot of insight about what an eating disorder looks like and what can be done to help those who suffer from it. I really appreciate the work that went into making this book so good. Five stars from me and I highly recommend it!
