It is enough to break any man: watching what could have been my future slip away before it was ever in my grasp. The possibility of losing someone I loved before she was even mine is something I never would have imagined. Certainly nothing I'd ever wish on anyone. I go to her every day and wait. Wait for the impossible, for a sign, for her to look at me...hoping that sinners are granted miracles, too.

It’s natural to want the one you can’t have. And for as long as I could remember, I’d secretly wanted my brother’s best friend, Jace. He was six years older and always treated me like the sister he never had. Fast forward a decade. We were all in our 20s now. Jace had moved in with my brother, Nathan, and me to help us make ends meet after our parents died. It was just the three of us - an odd family dynamic. Living under our roof, Jace was as bossy and protective as ever. But he certainly didn’t look at me like a sister anymore. That was what made things so complicated.

It was the perfect plan. I needed a wife - temporarily - in order to inherit the family business. And she needed a favor - the kind that takes nine months to deliver. We had it all worked out, from the no-touching policy on our wedding night (her rule) to the no-falling-in-love decree (mine). She’d marry me, I’d give her the means to have the baby she’d always wanted, and one year later we’d amicably part ways with no hassle, no demands, and certainly no regrets. After all, Bianca DeRossi and I are experts at infuriating one another - we’ve been doing it since we were kids.

Publisher's Summary
Discover a new series from the author of the number-one New York Times best-seller Beautiful Disaster: a "[H]eartbreaking and hopeful, raw and sexy" tale about a woman on the run who encounters a stranger with a secret (Lauren Blakely, author of Part-Time Lover).
As Darby Dixon sits in a tiny Texas church bathroom on her wedding day holding a positive pregnancy test, she realizes marrying her fiancé would be the worst decision of her life. She's never been very good at standing up for herself, but she'll sure as hell stand up for her baby. With very little cash and a ton of courage, she flees town to take a new name and start a new life.
As a Marine, Scott "Trex" Trexler worked in the most treacherous, corrupt, war-torn places on earth. With his new top-secret security job, he finally has a chance to return to the one place he's felt at peace: Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The moment Trex checks in at the hotel where she's working, Darby knows he's dangerous. He may want her to think he's another hotshot firefighter, along with all the others battling the nearby mountain blaze, but something doesn't add up. No way will she get involved with another man she can't fully trust - and Trex clearly isn't telling her everything. As Darby's ex gets closer and closer to finding her, both she and Trex will soon find out that what you don't know can hurt you.
"Jamie McGuire writes with no holds barred.... [R]eal and addictive." (USA Today)

struggled with this book, I love this author so I kept trying to read it hoping for a surprise. it was predictable and I didn't feel any connection for the characters. I found the female lead to be a bit of a pushover and the Male character a pathological liar. very disappointed with this book.

Trex gives Travis a run for his money as McGuire’s top leading man. A beautiful love story!
It has taken me a few weeks to write my review but I wanted to do this book justice. I realized that I can never sum this book up perfectly for you.
Here’s what I can say...
Jamie McGuire is back and 100%. If you loved Beautiful Disaster, you’ll love From Here to You. As I read I kept having those same feelings that I did when I read about Travis and Abby. I wanted Trex and Darby to make it, to succeed, to be ok, to love and hold on.
These characters are breathtaking. Darby is the perfect combination of strength and vulnerability. She realizes her worth and is determined to get it. Trex is an ex-military bada** that you fall in love with from the start. He knows what he wants and has had no problem waiting his life for it. He wasn’t going to settle and he won’t give it up now. I’m not a huge love at first sight fan, but Trex made me fall in love with Darby right along with him and I enjoyed every single second of it.
"When you know, you know, and I knew the second I saw Darby Cooke. It was the first-sight nonsense that until that moment I would've said was bullshit. Since that moment, she'd been the center of my universe, and there was so much more to get to know..."
“No one can love you like I do. I’ll make sure it’s impossible.”- Trex (I mean come on with that!)
“Be you, unapologetically.”- Trex
This is one of those books that you’ll “highlight” half of the words, as quotes jump out at you on every page. That’s what draws me to McGuire’s work so much, is her ability to make me feel every word I read in every inch of my bones. This book is no different. Some lines will touch you in your soul and leave you changed, I know some did for me and I couldn’t be happier about it.
You’ll go on highs and lows with Trex and Darby and you’ll thank Jamie McGuire for every single one of them.

Nope
Ok, I am just going to say that I wasted a credit on this and didn't make it half way through this book. Normally I will stick a book out just to see if it got better or maybe could wrap itself up - but this one, no. The narration was alright, that's the only positive I have for it. Not even 10 minutes in to this book and we are praying. Another half hour or so into it and we are arguing about religion. While I'm not against this subject, I don't want to read about it or talk about it or think about it when I'm just trying to lose myself in a different place. The female character came off as whiny which annoys me to no end. I can't say anything else about the book because I just can't finish it. If this type of story line is for you, give it a go. If you are looking for the strong alpha rescuing a single mom and all that normally comes with it as far as back story goes - look somewhere else. Personally I think this book should be listed in the religious and spiritual category, not where it is now.

far fetched but enjoyable
this was a good book. I really struggled with (spoiler....) the fact that this guy could so easily fall in love with and want to be with this woman after such a short time. and then him saying he loved her it was just too little 'get to know you' before they were a relationship. 0 to 60.

This book spoke to me! So good! Loved it!
I was curious about Trex from his appearance in the Maddox Brothers books. He was so mysterious and I wondered who the heck “his people” were. I even remember not liking him at one point. Now that I’ve read and listened to it, I have to say that he was NOT what I expected. He was pretty freaking cute, has a great sense of humor and really appealed to me. I absolutely love him! And Darby... Gah! I related to her on so many levels. Both of them spoke to me deeply. There were so many times that I felt like one or both of them were speaking directly to me. I had to pause several times while listening and just let what they said sink in. This book came at just the right time in my life and I absolutely loved and adored it. Amazing read and listen. I highly recommend it. Trex and Darby are definitely high on my list of favorite McGuire couples!

Listened to end, but not a winner
I was unhappy with how the author flip-flopped on her characters and didn't remain true to their emotions or what she had developed throughout the story. I'd call the male and female characters by their fictional names, but I can't recall either one...which tells me a lot about how I felt listening to this book. I was not attached to either character. The male was often pathetically weak and his utterances of "don't leave me" sounded exactly like that of an abuser. There were no defined lines between the abuser and the "hero" in this story. The story at times was often convoluted; many times I had to start a chapter over because it was so unclear how the author brought the characters to this place. With much of the focus of the story being the female character unable to tolerate lying OR lying by omission, she certainly did her share by keeping hidden the fact she was pregnant from her employer. So her waffling lost me from the start. This could have been an excellent read/listen if the author had taken care to define the characters, remain true to each, focus on making at least one storyline a standout, and omitting so many unrealistic coincidences...I simply expected more...and it never came. The most notable part of this listen? Narrator Andrew Eiden is also narrator Teddy Hamilton.
