great book

The author does a great job explaining how to turn your kitchen scraps into compost. I practice this myself, and I found that the author had wonderful insight into the processes to maximize your output from your garden. Great listen for anyone looking to expand their knowledge and introduce the practices into their own home gardening.

A great companion guide for gardeners.

This book outlines the different ways I can do gardening from the waste coming out from my own kitchen. I am amazed how I can easily use things like egg shells in my garden. I feel confident as to how I will transfer my new learned skills to my garden in my next gardening season.

Awesome book

Wow, what an awesome book! I've learned a lot and as someone who is fairly new to composting, I found this so very interesting and valuable. Also, this couldn't have come at a better time what with everything so expensive in the supermarket nowadays. I truly appreciate the cost-saving solutions shared here and will definitely follow all the tips shared. Highly recommend!

Some stuff I knew, and some I didn't

Who didn't sprout lima beans as a child? I remember being amazed, but I didn't take it a step further to make a food-producing crop from it. This book is LIFE, literally! I found the multitude of tips very beneficially to go beyond the lima bean and recreate whole entire crops I can use to feed my family! This book goes into DETAILS, everything from the process of rejuvenating those scraps that would have otherwise gone in compost or worse, the trash, to soil and climate conditions to time of year to which crops are okay to plant together and which are not. They even added some color regarding the produce supply chain process and how things like A GLOBAL Pandemic can disrupt and in turn negatively impact supply. The author discusses how to get the family onboard for a little kids-get-their-hands-dirty-too fun! I expected this book to meet my expectation; my expectations were blown out of the water! Very glad I now have this resource in my library to revisit!

I liked the last part of chapter1.

I learned how to regrow vegetables I bought at the supermarket. To be honest, the narrator's voice was hard to listen, but it was easier to understand if you set the speed up to 1.5x.

One to keep

For starters, I appreciate vegetables on a whole other level so this piqued my interest. I've tried growing simple things like chili peppers but didn't think of this. Very useful and a good call! When you get to the part about harvesting it gets more interesting!

An Amazing Resource

Since the Pandemic, my wife, kids and I have been cooking more together. Since inflation has spiked, we considered starting a garden. This book is an amazing resource and has gotten us excited about gardening in order to save money and create a fun family activity. And, we’re helping the environment at the same time. Talk about a win win win… We only wish we’d listened to this audiobook at the beginning of the pandemic!

An easy introduction to growing food

This year we have started to grow tomatoes. I don't have much gardening experience and I found this guide easy to follow. I have planted some sprouted potatoes in the garden for next year. As the prices of food are going up so fast, it is a really important skill to learn. I will keep referring back to the audiobook as I aim to expand the types of food that we grow in the back garden.

A Useful Resource/Guide!

Anyone interested in gardening may find this to be a useful resource. Even though I've been gardening for the better part of 40 years, I still have a lot to learn. The author discussed methods of indoor gardening such as the use of LED lights and hydroponics, both of which had never occurred to me before. This book also provided in-depth information on how to use cloches and cold frames to extend the growth season for an outdoor garden.

This book is up to date for gardening in the midst of the epidemic, with an emphasis on how to turn gardening into a healthy hobby for the whole family and a rewarding way to contribute to the community. For as much as we spend on food and seeds, I wish we had put more emphasis on recycling our kitchen waste into new plants. His suggestion that you save seed from your harvest to use in the next year was a brilliant option.

This book is perfect for a novice gardener because it covers topics such as the essential equipment, soil health, plant selection, fertilizers, and pest management. The book offers numerous eco-friendly strategies for dealing with garden pests.

All the pieces are there for a classic gardening guide.

A great representation of the horticulture, thanks

These techniques have so much to offer... I have a wide garden and never dared to make changes to apply them, simply because I was never into it. Well, this book gave me so many ideas in a very informational and instructive manner (even how to treat the soil properly). So, very well recommended.

Fascinating topic

I've been interested in growing my own food for a few years now, but haven't had much luck. First of all, I had no idea I could regrow kitchen waste. The author explains how to do this with a variety of different types of produce, and I can't wait to try!
How to grow from a seed is also discussed. That is where I have never had any luck. The author gives a comprehensive explanation of how to collect different seeds and how to grow them indoors or outdoors. I especially appreciated the tips (ie sprinkle cinnamon on the tomato seed to prevent mold!).
I would recommend this book to anyone who may wish to have their own sustainable food source.

Covers some different topics

I have listened to a few gardening books but this book comes at it from a different angle. There are two dedicated chapters to kitchen scraps and the rest of the chapters are about gardening; however not what you'd expect. Teaching kids about gardening, handling a pandemic and other topics I didn't expect appeared. My only quibble is that the way the narrator ends his sentences is very repetitive, this doesn't take away from the book though. So overall 5 stars!
