Publisher's Summary

Alan returns to podcasting, offering his unique perspective on life’s big questions, the hot-button issues of the day, his professional successes and the most intimate details of his personal life in a series he is already calling ‘seminal’. The second series will come partly from the oasthouse—in order to satisfy people who'd rather he didn’t mess with the format—and partly from other locations—to appeal to those who found the original format a bit limiting.

Another perfect Partridge

Nothing more to say ... he's amazing. Perfect blend of middle aged white male sadness, surface level self-reflection, desperate need to be loved and most importantly to be in the public eye.

Just as amazing as the first season!

I loved it! Wouldn't expect anything less from Steve Coogan. A great background for a drive or a walk around town. I only wish it was longer!

Classic Partridge

Coogan is a genius in both writing and performance. Living in the States now it is like having an old friend come to visit. My only complaint is that there isn’t enough of it and it would have been great to have the next tranche included. But it is abso-bloody-exactly what I needed. Steve, if you see this, you are helping us through some tough days and as a comedian, actor etc.. you probably don’t realize how special, how valuable you are. Thank You

Steve Cohan at his best!

Alan Partridge and his shenanigans never disappoint to make me laugh with his better-than-you attitude told nonchalantly. Great listen while driving and at work!

Alan is back from the Oasthouse

Happy there is more of this. Not quite as good as the previous series, a bit more disjointed, but still a good way to spend a few hours and well worth the money

from Conference with Steve Coogan

Partridge has morphed into Steve Coogan. An annoyingly smug lefty git. A shame. Partridge was always a character Coogan struggled to understand. But Coogan should be more aware at this stage how unbearable he is except to a small coterie of middle class socialists. More Partridge less Steve Coogan please.

If I played this podcast to William Shakespeare it would blow his mind

So happy to see this brilliant podcast return, even better than season 1 if that is even possible.

Moribund

As a dedicated F.O.P this disappointed me. Alan revolves ...he doesn't evolve. Alot of content is rehashed. He's dumbed down...whereas I want to dumb up.

Series 1 great, series 2 recycled and weak

Just nowhere near as good as the first… it’s like Steve Coogan lived up to the parody he jokes about in series 1 - dashing to meet an Audible deadline! Just lots of recycling, nowhere near as funny and a big disappointment. Half the length, half the quality. A couple of good moments but not really worth your time.

Comedy genius

The reason I’d got audible was for the first oasthouse, now for a constant replaying of this second round of rambling, comedy genius, the most layered comedy character ever. Incredible

Funny and forgettable

Not quite as good as the first series as there's no real narrative thread running through it and some of the episodes are a little too random. There are also points where it feels more like a reading of a new Alan Partridge autobiography, rather than a scripted podcast.

It's probably funnier than the first series though, despite the reuse of a couple of jokes. There's also more music, some of which is very amusing (the Henry VIII song springs to mind). I just wish the whole thing was a little longer, felt more natural and had better structure.

not a patch on series 1 but it does pick up.

I've been a patridge fan since On the Hour, and loved Oast house 1.
sadly, series 2 feels rushed and made with less enthusiasm. it's not terrible and I did enjoy the little songs especially the Joy division parody.
temper your expectations and you'll be ok.

Ten on ten!

However, In the river he says he has a new dog but then in future episodes says that he has no dog and decides to get one. I ask you!

Love Alan.

This is great. Approaching the highs of midmorning matters, it’s nice to have a pure Alan experience again. The recent BBC stuff was not as good partly because there were too many bits without Alan being Alan.

rough start, but back on form soon enough

the first two chapters feel lazy and rushed, with some annoying space fillers under the guise of comedic effect. But by chapter four, everything I loved about series one was back. Sharp writing. Generous witty puns and throwaway lines. A sense of ambience and adventure. And of course, Partridge winning petty arguments both with himself, the killjoys and jobsworths that cross his path. Another great addition to the series and looking forward to many more. A-ha!

The hero Podcasting needs, but doesn't deserve.

So great to see (or hear) how Alan has been going over the last years. Great listen and as usual, lovely stuff.

On a re-listen I feel as if part 6 and 7 should be swapped as far as chronological order, but doesn't really detract from the enjoyment.

Can't wait for the second tranche of series 2!

Solid continuation of the concept

As an Alan Partridge tragic, I will devour anything they put out. Compared to Series 1, I think this one was less coherent in terms of overarching plot. The injection of original musical numbers was a welcomed novelty though. I suspect that they have been buoyed by the success of the first series and are now milking the content a bit (seems shorter perhaps). But hey, as they say "Shut up and take my money" (I hate it when people say that)

True Comedy Genius

This is amongst the best Partridge material there is. Such a rich comedy character and a performer still at the top of his game.
