The complex, deeply binding relationship between mothers and daughters is brought vividly to life in Katie Hafner's remarkable memoir, an exploration of the year she and her mother, Helen, spent working through, and triumphing over, a lifetime of unresolved emotions. Dreaming of a "year in Provence" with her mother, Katie urges Helen to move to San Francisco to live with her and Zoe, Katie's teenage daughter. Katie and Zoe had become a mother-daughter team, strong enough, Katie thought, to absorb the arrival of a 77-year-old woman set in her ways....

Dysfunctional family
A story about a dysfunctional family. I really don’t think the story was my cup of tea.
This story contains drug addiction and Suicide. But not by the same person.
Course language is beep out. There is no explicit sex scenes. It does however show how different people in families develop differently. If you enjoy seeing how people can develop in a family, influenced by different things this is the book for you.
Narration was done well. Each character has their own voice.

Family Matters
From the Streets of Chambers Lane: Chambers Lane Series, Book 1
by Daniel Maldonado and Jack Nolan
This is the story of a dysfunctional family trying to deal with the death of the youngest son and brother. It is very emotional.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Jack Nolan brought the characters to life. I like that the swearing was bleeped out.

Sad, sentimental and wonderful
This book is about a family dealing with an unexpected death and not from natural causes, But it is about more than that. It’s about the mom in her five children the youngest one is 20 years younger than his next older sibling. But even the ones who are close in age still have the clicks well except for Jose Luis he’s a gang island to himselfAnd a mass. I love this book I love the way the author flush out every character and got the nuances of each one correct. For example Daniel’s friend Randy was raised mainly by his father until he was 12 so both marriages were with older women that is typical of men who were raised with their mother to find all the women attractive. I thought that was very smart of the author and that is not where the authors knack for detail ends. This book was brilliantly written and although it was sad they did have a few comedic moments but mostly it is a drama about a dysfunctional family coming to terms with the unexpected death in the family. I can only hope there is a book to because I would like to know more about this family. I am so glad I read this book. It deserves fives across the board.
Now on to Mr. Jack Nolan the narrator. Usually when the book ends I turn it off this time I didn’t don’t know why I don’t know if I didn’t feel like getting up who knows. In any event Mr. Jack Nolan had his autobiography done by two anonymous friends of course I just want to say it was a Larry us he is a retired super villain and he has ruined many of industries he says movies TV comic books and now he is working on audiobooks. I found this Cellarius and think he has a great voice for audiobooks so bring it on Jack Nolan.

Family dynamics
From the Streets of Chambers Lane is a book that talks about the dynamics of the Mendoza family after the death of the youngest son Michael. Every member of the family has their own memories of Michael some good and some bad. The description of the family is sad to say is something that comes straight out of the headlines about what really goes on behind closed doors. The book is well written and truthful.

"I want to go home."
News of the death of the youngest son in the dysfunctional Maldonado family provides the pivotal point to look at each person in detail. From Daniel, an older brother who'd studied for years to become a lawyer, through other siblings and Michael's mother, plus the occasional friend, church member and even a dog, a picture of the family is cleverly woven pulling the reader to the inside of this family catastrophe. Nothing happens, other than the funeral itself, but that doesn't matter. So much has already been revealed in the individual lives.
Narration by Jack Nolan would be excellent but for one thing: the short but distracting pauses liberally scattered through the text with no apparent reason for their placement, so for example, 'He realised [pause] that he loved it' Or, 'her father's [pause] family house' And again, 'it's distinctive [pause] Eagle-Eye arch'. Rarely does a sentence pass without one of these unnecessary breaks. Otherwise his reading has a fine emotional expression with good modulation, and his voice a pleasant to the ear timbre. Interestingly, though few in number anyway, all profanity/ swear words have been bleeped out.
I was fortunate in being freely gifted with a complimentary copy of From the Streets of Chambers Lane, at my request, by the rights holder. Thank you. I found it fascinating and very enjoyable, not wanting it to come to an end. An interesting insight into people. And I also found the brief end of book synopsis about the author and, especially, the narrator, great fun.
Recommended.

A creative and beautiful snapshot of latin culture
The Medoza family are not an overly functional family (perhaps an understatement) - splintered by relationship failure, age gaps, and differences that come from having different fathers with very different relationships, betrayals and behaviours towards their mother and siblings. There is a unique kind of fractured chaos surrounding this family which Daniel describes sensitively and creatively.
I agree with some previous reviews that although there are detailed and effective snapshots of each family member that give us an opportunity to connect and get to know each of them, it may have enhanced the overall coherence of the book to have a clearer plot and storyline to engage with. While the family tragedy is at centre of each of the dialogues, the purpose of these overviews could perhaps be clearer.
I did enjoy Jack Nolan's narration: It is paced well and has an easy tone to listen to - I would not hesitate to purchase an audiobook narrated by him in the future.
I received this audiobook for free in return for an honest review. Thank you to Daniel Maldonado for the opportunity to hear this sensitive, sad, and lovely story.

Has potential
This book was provided to me through a promotional code in exchange for a review.
Overall not too bad! The series has potential and I am looking forward to reading the remaining books in the series! The one drawback I felt was missing from this book was that I unfortunately felt there was no real plot present in the story which made it kind of difficult for me to understand what was going on, along with the number of characters to keep track of. However with that said, I felt the character development was really well done and it brought the writing to life! The character development kept me engaged and I felt I could personally relate to them. The chapters and story were also short which I greatly appreciated. Looking forward to seeing what happens to the family going forward!

Very Enjoyable Read
Overall this book is an excellent read. I expected a story with a plot but I was wrong, it tells the story of a rather disfunctional family who are pulled together by the death of a younger brother, each member of the family tells their own version of the relationship they had with him and the problems which each encountered. It is a real emotional rollercoaster of a read and and well worth reading. The reader is pretty good if a little hesitant in parts, or that may be because of the way the book has been edited. I would have no hesitation in recommending this book to anyone and personally will be looking out for the other books in this 4 book series.

Not one for me
This is the first book from this author for me, and I have to say I’m not really sure if I enjoyed this as much as I had hoped.
The author is very descriptive and paints an accurate picture of many typical families, sibling rivalries, and other such details. I’m not really sure what the book was about, it’s almost like it’s the scene setting preview to another book or two. I will try another book by the author to ensure I give a fair feedback of the writings.

An average story badly recorded
I found this novel to be rather lacking in plot. There seemed to be a large focus on people arguing about who is more Christian than who, while rarely showing any kindness to others. Little more than this actually happened.
The narrator has a very strange way of reading, with unexpected pauses in the middle of sentences, and one set of paragraphs is recorded twice.
