Broke, almost homeless, and recently fired. Those are my official reasons for answering a wanted ad for a skeevy-looking bartender gig. It went downhill the moment they asked me to do a trial shift instead of an interview - to see if I'd mesh with their "special" clientele. I think that part went great. Their customers were complete dickheads, and I was an asshole right back. That's the definition of fitting in, right? I expected to get thrown out on my ass. Instead, they...offered me the job?

This series gets better and better
Firstly, if you haven't listened to or read the previous books of the series, this isn't the one to start with because each builds on the ones before, particularly 4, 5, and 6.
The story engaged me from beginning to end with plenty of revelations and just as many new questions. Liv Anderson's narration was spot on as usual and made for a pleasant listen.
In this installment, Kara is back on Earth trying to rescue Idris and joins up again with the old gang. Eilahn, Zack, Jill, and Ryan are all there as well as Tessa, and detectives Pellini and Boudreaux. A lot happens around betrayal and loyalties, and Kara finds herself still a target for the machinations of the Mraztur. There is a scene with Ryan-Szerain that blew me away but saying more would spoil it!
Almost every character increased in richness and depth and the world building leaves me wanting to know more NOW! :)
For a fan of the Kara Gillian series, this is a must-listen! Nothing is black and white.

Conspiracy, Conspiracy, EVERYWHERE!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This book rocked. You really do have to have read the previous 2 books in order to keep up. The investigation was interesting and nail biting. I really liked the unexpected twists at the end.CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!
Who was your favorite character and why?
I really liked Paul & Bryce as a unit because they add a new dimension to the storyline and they help the other characters to change as they needed to.
What about Liv Anderson’s performance did you like?
I enjoy her different voices and the fact that she is "acting" rather than simply reading the lines.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I didn't really have a particular reaction but I went through the rollercoaster ride of the emotions of all of the characters.

Absolutely Amazing Story & Narrator
What did you love best about Fury of the Demon?
I like how the plot from previous books come together and we learn more about the characters, and the listener ends up anticipating what is to come next... The entire series should be listened to at least twice.
What did you like best about this story?
I enjoyed Kara Gillian's Character growth as well as others. The story is unique in its own genre, and the series is well built and plots from previous books are well linked.
What does Liv Anderson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Liv Anderson does a very good job with different charterers. I really enjoyed her performance. Hopefully she will end up doing more readings. I am a fan!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I listened to the entire series back to back, and went into a withdrawal when it was done, so I had to listen to it all over gain. :)
Any additional comments?
Can wait for the next book... The cliffhanger was nothing short of "well done", leaving the audience in anticipation for more secrets to be revealed.

I love this series!
Kara Gillian is a low key person. She's intelligent, soft spoken, and pragmatic. She works as a homicide detective in a small city in Louisiana. And she is a summoner of demons.
The demons don't come from hell. In this plot, the demons are from another dimension, and they come in all shapes and sizes and flavors (and colors!). Kara uses them for practicing her summoning, and for help with the murder cases (supernatural) that she has to solve. They are very original characters in their own right. I love the alien-ness of the demons, and the way their otherness comes across in dialogue. There is a secondary mystery running through the whole series that really gets going in the last two books.
It's a pretty good premise for a series, but in the hands of Diana Rowland, it's a great! I've been listening from book 1, straight through, and I've loved every minute of it. (I bought the whole series while I was only halfway through the first book!)
Liv Anderson is perfect for the series.
Highly recommended.

Its hard to relate to the lead character
This series isn't for everyone... and its certainly not for me. i know this because i found myself happy to see Kara face real troubles. The first couple books in the series danced around the relationship between Kara and Ryan. And truth be told, that is the only reason that i kept on following the series. But up to this point i find that i'm unable to relate to Kara and to understand her thinking process. She supposedly only ever had 2 boyfriends before the start of the series... but yet, her easy tranfer into the world of casual sex while still claiming to hold feelings for Ryan..... it spoiled the series for me. Then here we find her "in love" with 'mosottle' in addition to ryan. Most of the time its pretty clear that Ryan is only an afterthought for her in the grand scheme of things....I understand her difficulty with ryan/ zerain.... but throughout the entire series she basically drags ryan around on a leash with no real desire to enter into a real relationship with him. And yet, she doesnt set boundaries between them in order to spare ryan's feelings. I find myself disliking Kara as a person... i will stick it out just because i made the mistake of purchasing the next book.... the only thing that can save my opinion of this series would be Ryan finding love outside of Kara. What a horrible and self absorbed character she is!

Disappointed
Would you try another book written by Diana Rowland or narrated by Liv Anderson?
I have listened to the whole series now - and whilst the first book is ok, numbers 2 to 5 actually are good. The characters are engaging, the story amusing and enjoyable, aside from some minor annoyances.
What could Diana Rowland have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The point about this book is that our whole concept of the story is turned upside down - a surprise twist. I like surprise twist normally. But here the twist seems to come with losing any link to any characters, it is incredibly hard to empathise with them anymore because they have become flat facsimile of stereotypes.
Have you listened to any of Liv Anderson’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I like the narrator
You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Honestly, not many. The story has a lot of potential but the characters have flatlined.

Exactly as Amazon Customer says in their review "...I have never gone from one book to the next so quickly..."
(except with books by Anne Bishop)
As soon as I finish one book I start on the next in this series. This book doesn't disappoint either - I didnt love it quite as much as the previous one as it did slightly overdo Kara's battle to keep her identity but that's a mere detail.
The overall scope jumping between the demon realm and Earth, treachery, really bad baddies and a gripping climax that went on and one with twists and turns, its wonderful.
Its actually bad for me as usually I listen to books whilst doing other things like driving, mowing the lawn etc - but these I am actually making time to listen as I struggle to put each book down
great story and superbly narrated. Next book starts later today
