Not these boys. Yet that doesn't mean they don't have skills. And courage - which they will need every ounce of to do battle at sea against the other bands, the Wolves and the Sharks, in the ultimate race. The icy waters make for a treacherous playing field - especially when not everyone thinks of it as playing.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

"What The Frak"
Would you try another book from Joseph Delaney and Patrick Arrasmith and/or Alexander Cendese?
Absolutely - Joseph Delaney
Not if I have to listen to this narrator making everyone except Tom sound CELTRIC/ Don't do that.
If you’ve listened to books by Joseph Delaney and Patrick Arrasmith before, how does this one compare?
Very Good.
How could the performance have been better?
Please, Please go back and get the original NARRATOR Christopher Evan Welch. I would purchase it again just to hear him narrate it.

RIP Christopher Evan Welch
Be advised the book is great but the narrator has changed due to the passing of CEW. The new narrator has changed the accents and even the pronunciation of some words like boggart, which might throw you off a bit. Wish they would have attempted to make it as consistent as possible as it was strange for me all the way through. Still a wonderful book despite the change in narrator.

The Fiend was a Leprechaun?!
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I wish I would have read this last book instead of listening to it. I understand that the author was left with the difficult task of finding a replacement after the unfortunate passing of the original performer (who was by the way amazing and will be missed by many I'm sure). I just don't understand why they chose a replacement with such a different take on the character voices? Why not keep the character voices similar for continuity sake? And the choice of new character voices was very weird. The all powerful fiend's voice, in particular, was aweful. He transcends accents, right? It kept brining me out of the story and thinking of the SNL skit "If it's not Scottish it's crap!" Yes, I know I am mixing Irish and Scottish, but believe me, so does the performer! Just disappointing.
If you’ve listened to books by Joseph Delaney and Patrick Arrasmith before, how does this one compare?
The book on the whole was OK. It felt like too much like a set up for a new series, as opposed to a conclusion of the current 10 book series. We devoted fans deserve more than that.

Disappointing on many levels
What would have made Fury of the Seventh Son better?
The Alice relationship, which is a crux for most of the series felt extremely glossed over and shoved to the side. The whole explanation of Alice's motivations and what really happened also felt very rushed.
Would you ever listen to anything by Joseph Delaney and Patrick Arrasmith again?
No, I felt it was the worst book in the series thus far. I love this series and was very much looking forward to this installment. It felt like Delaney just forcing a new series out of this book. He doesn't let this book properly finish the Last Apprentice series. Can he continue on? Sure, but this book felt like it didn't have a resolution at all. If felt like the characters were more flying by the seat of their pants after having these clear options before them.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
There is a gross amount of reiteration of old material that isn't put forward in a way that is anything but dull to readers who have been following the series. Not only that, but he does it multiple times!
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I was actually quite surprised and sad to find that Christopher Evan Welch didn't read this book. Cendese was fine, but he couldn't match Welch's depth and strength.
Any additional comments?
I just don't appreciate where this book went at all. Frankly, I'm still so angry that I'm having a hard time putting it into words.

why did they change the narrator
I liked the story although not as much as the others. Mostly because of the narrator. The characters are from the county so why did he make all the witches sound like they were Irish? It was very annoying. Also he changed the way certain words were pronounced. If a narrator change has to happen then they should at least listen to the previous books to make the change as seamless as possible.

Ran out of steam? What happened?
What disappointed you about Fury of the Seventh Son?
I bought all 13, I repeat ALL of the Harper audiobook versions of the Wardstone Chronicles. While it's really sad that Christopher Evan Welch was not able to finish (cause he died) why the heck did Harper get somebody who was nowhere close to the style and approach of the other 10 books, let alone that one that ended the series? In addition, I felt that Joseph Delaney just wanted to finish up the big baddy Fiend as an arch which isn't really isnt. This was a decade long series for heaven's sake, the author could have at least given it a little better closure and drama. Instead we were treated to what if felt like is a prologue for another series. It really didn't have to be written that way, we would have continued to the next either way.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The way the fiend was defeated was rather flat and it felt empty because of how we kept getting set up for the next series while this ones not even resolved yet. We waited a decade for how Tom vs Fiend in the end would come to be. Their final showdown was WEAK.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Alexander Cendese?
NO and whoever did should get fired.
Any additional comments?
The audiobook version really dropped the ball.
