More porn than scifi

I'm a guy, I like sex as much as anyone else... this series just takes it a bit too much. The depth and detail he goes into the frequent sexual encounters is just disturbing. Im ok with sex as long as its a key part of the story but this dudes banging anything with 2 legs and in graphic detail.

I'm more interested in the universe, the conflict, the world... not him rhythmically sliding in and out of her.

Larry Stue Nonsense

There would be a lot to love with this post-apocolyptic survival story if the author did not demand action or super-creepy dirty-talk and super-descriptive sex scenes (which thankfully are almost always at the end of a chapter so that you can skip them) in almost every chapter. Every once in a while there is a chapter about the hero's settlement and the people within it, and it starts to be something. Wanting to see the settlement progress and the hero leverage it are probably what kept me listening to this series; however, this hero will almost always choose to run into melee range (often while being shot) instead of setting ambushes or using the heaps of advanced tech available to him. It feels like advanced tech shows up once to quickly win battles with ease in order to show off how cool it is and then immediately gets thrown away.

Plus, it is a terrible value. The entire series back-to-back is shorter than most Harry Potter novels. If you're getting this as part of Audible Plus then you're likely going to listen to these while scoffing like I did and it has a certain charm like watching bad action movies from the 80s.

Whew!

One of those books you just couldn't finish. Must have been written when the guy was a testosterone addled 17 year old. Sometimes these books are fun, not this one. It brings the question, how did this get published?

Interesting idea squandered

If you have the slightest idea of how physics works, or have ever known a person who was ever vaguely in the vicinity of a physical altercation, this is not the book for you as the author clearly has neither. Take this glaring failure at physics away, and you are left with a mere amateurish botching of a mildly interesting plot idea and the sci-fi staple of misusing the word "ichor." That said, it was free, so at least worth the price point.

good thing it was free

main character is a ridiculous Mary Sue that has so much deus ex machina in his favor that the outcome is never in question.

Adult Adventure

Pretty good series more than just a mindless jock with easy women I'd recommend to the people who are looking for fast adventures in post apocalyptic Era.

Good but plot was rushed

Overall good continuation of story But it felt like too many plot points jammed into story without full development of them. Easily two books worth of plot and character development that was just rushed through. There also were some hard to follow sections that were probably chapter breaks that were poorly edited out.

Lackluster Sequel

This author really sticks to a style. "Hero is transformed by MacGuffin device and becomes cool, but needless meaningless character death must be had so the author can feel edgy."

Honestly, I really like the first book and I like the first half of this book. Plenty of sex scenes, Action, all in a good blend...then the last third hits and all just falls into a shit basin. SPOILER: Introducing a character, giving her purpose, then killing her meaninglessly and off camera is real shit writing. I liked the first book, I have some very negative feelings about this one. I dunno if I want more. Pierce seems to be addicted to cheap story hooks like this as seen in forever young. Character death does not make you cool or edgy. It can help a story, but it needs to be used judiciously and not formulaic like someone who cares more about getting paid than writing a story. Sadly that's how this comes off.

TLDR: Did you like book #1? Me too. Did you hate the weird out of place character death in #1? This book does not improve on that it is shorter and has a rushed shitty ending.

Pretty good

I enjoyed it. Simple, easy and entertaining. Nothing too complicated and I look forward to book 3.

a bit to much harem fantasy

i know its a post apocalyptic fantasy story but its a bit too ridiculously harem, every girl he meets joins the harem quickly with little effort / time and none of the other girls care at all. I think it takes from the overall story tbh

good follow on!

I like to go to New places and meet new people and this was filled with solid individuals who with the narration have depth and the world is pretty easy to depict too. well written Nd narrated to get the situation fixed in the duration. I have to say although what I consider a light read in terms of world building this proves that with the right words and yarn spinner it doesn't have to be 20 hours to get the thing across.

a nice saga to infill between heavy reads. and now I am 40+ I feel this is my equivellant to the odd mills and boon in my mother's Day!

A Trash listen with not many saving graces

Having listened to the first in the series it hasn't got any better, in fact I would say probably worse. The narrative although fast paced is somewhat confusing lacking depth and self obsessed. Deluding that the main character is the best thing since sliced bread. No real depth and am giving up on the series.

Fantastic!

I'm really enjoying this series. The main character is cool, the women have plenty of backbone, and the love scenes are well written. Cendese has become my favourite narrator. He reads the stories with such character and keeps me listening when I'm normally distracted.
