Publisher's Summary

He was my fantasy. I was his way out.

It was only supposed to be one weekend. Now I'm serving this young muscle god's every desire, and I can't get enough.

Was it too soon to call it love? Is that even what this was? This unstoppable tangle of dominance, compassion, and lust between us?

He was the one thing in my numb, lonely world that made me feel beautiful, wanted, and alive.

I knew it was wrong to live out all of my secret sexual fantasies with him, but he wanted it just as badly as I did, and didn't we both deserve to get what we needed?

Even if he might be dangerous. Even if I was a total fool for getting in this deep. Even if I was risking everything to have him.

Contains mature themes.

✫✫ 3.5 Stars ✫✫

Maybe I was just to excited about this audiobook release but to be honest I found this book a little lacking. It was kind of slow and the characters didn't reach me. I didn't dislike it, just didn't love it. I did like that background for each character and the main story line, I just wish it had more meat.

For me the best thing about this audiobook was Alex Kydd, I wish he had been the main narrator. He doesn't really have a dominate male voice so I think him being cast as the dominate man in the story made this feel a little off for me.

Outstanding! All hot, no fluff

Finally an author who gets the male gaze and doesn’t rely on imagination to try to convey male-on-male desire. The interaction of the two main characters is superbly developed (first 3 hours are an object lesson in how it is done), and it’s erotically charged without wasting words on generic scenery. In addition, Banner really knows how to write: the rounded character of James and the description of locations (all done so concisely yet convincingly) demonstrate his skills. The readers are excellent, making this a perfect 5-star production. There are no idiotic twists, diversions, false crises etc., just a carefully paced unfolding of a hot and happy narrative of a chance encounter’s pathway to love.

Wow what Happened

After reading the Spruce trilogy I couldnt wait to read more by this author. The exact thing i liked About the trilogy is the opposite about This. The sex needs to follow the story not the opposite.

And then every other sentence ending with s preposition? At

Dissapointing

This is my favorite of the Banner works

I have listened to all of Banner's works on here and this one is my favorite of the lot. Some of it is purely taste-what can I say erotic denial is hot! But a lot of it is how Banner manages to make an unrealistic set-up work and how he manages to keep the scenario from coming off as creepy. (In lesser hands it would have). I read novels like this for the escapism and wish fulfillment; this novel is delightfully escapist and sweet. There's a few writing 101 parallels that are conceptually pleasing-i.e. the pun of the title, the casino setting.

Chambers is his normal great self but I didn't like Kydd as "Lucky." Not enough to ruin the novel but I think a better performance was possible.

Love love LOVEEE!!!!

Not only was this story heartwarming and steamy, the narrators were spot on! Chris Chambers WAS James! Alex kydd, was a spot on Lucky! They both worked so well together, bringing a beautiful Daryl Banner story to life. I need more of this teamwork!!!

Power-play with a big heart!

A local bank manager in his early thirties in the small town of Little Water, James McKinney feels washed up and unloved. The only bright spot is his fortnightly weekend trips to the nearest casino town with his equally dissatisfied straight buddies. When James spots Lucas (aka Lucky), a statuesque young blond, in their casino hotel lobby, he’ll stop at nothing to get to know and help the 19-year-old. I throughly enjoyed this, I haven’t read a good homeless-themed book since Nick Hornby’s excellent How To Be Good. Here both men are just surviving and their chance meeting is the catalyst for a better life for both. The narration sits with James for the first part of the book and then takes turns so we get to know what’s in his head first - I kept wondering about James’ ulterior motives early on, as did he. I think I loved the story so much because the two main characters were totally decent guys, their relationship had an unusual and steamy power dynamic, and I couldn’t tell where it was going to go (other than a HEA). Audio narrators Chris Chambers (as James) and Alex Kydd (as Lucky) both voiced their characters well.
