Story
In the 1860s, Napoleon III, intent on curbing the rise of American imperialism, persuaded a young Austrian archduke and a Belgian princess to leave Europe and become the emperor and empress of Mexico. They and their entourage arrived in a Mexico ruled by terror, where revolutionary fervor was barely suppressed by French troops. When the United States, now clear of its own Civil War, aided the rebels in pushing back Maximilian’s imperial soldiers, the French army withdrew, abandoning the young couple. The regime fell apart.

Just as I Am is my truth. It is me, plain and unvarnished, with the glitter and garland set aside. Here, I am indeed Cicely, the actress who has been blessed to grace the stage and screen for six decades. Yet I am also the church girl who once rarely spoke a word. I am the teenager who sought solace in the verses of the old hymn for which this book is named. I am a daughter and mother, a sister, and a friend. I am an observer of human nature and the dreamer of audacious dreams.

There are four characters in every story: the victim, the villain, the hero, and the guide. These four characters live inside us. If we play the victim, we’re doomed to fail. If we play the villain, we will not create genuine bonds. But if we play the hero or guide, our lives will flourish. The hard part is being self-aware enough to know which character we are playing. In this book, Donald will use his own experiences to help you recognize if the character you are currently surfacing is helping you experience a life of meaning.

The Story Behind This Book
If you know the story about Trevor, you'll know that Trevor wrote this book while fighting a terminal disease.
Just after "It Takes What It Takes", Trevor knew that there was something to the idea of Neutral.
There was.
It changed my life and that of my business coachees.
However, equally balanced in this book is content supporting the subtitle - so it's not all about Neutral.
It's helpful to have read/listened to his first book, "It Takes What It Takes" to understand the variety of content in this book.
More importantly, put yourself in Trevor's shoes while writing this.
He had an obligation to fulfill - a book about getting to Neutral. Unfortunately, life threw him a curveball and he wanted to do as much as possible with this book before he left this world. Therefore, covered are the concepts of Neutral, conquering negativity, and how to thrive in a chaotic world.
Having Russell Wilson read this book was a slam dunk - not only because he's a great reader, but he was also Trevor's best friend and he has a great voice.
Wouldn't it be great if all Audible books were this pleasant to listen to?
Thank you, Trevor, for the gift of Neutral.
With gratitude, Lauren

Trevor does it again
ITWIT which is how I mention "It Takes What It Takes" was an absolute game changer for me. It Changed my life. If you're doubtful of that then try me out. Click my name and look at all the books I've purchased and listened to on personal development (including ITWIT). You'll see I'm not being overly positive. I say this with neutrality. This second book was an incredible addition and what an incredible human, along with other high performers who love to develop mental conditioning that the best practice.

Phenomenal messages from beyond life.
I don’t know if the author’s death made me more focused or more intent as a listener, but this book moved me. In fairness, I really loved It Takes What It Takes as well, but this book was more gripping. Knowing that he worked on this book with a clean understanding of his prognosis showed that he really cared about passing his process on. The fact that Russell Wilson recorded this for his deceased friend was another moving gesture. The content and messages are already applicable to changing your mindset, so coupling that with the weight of a man’s last message, you get an incredible book.

This is the most impactful book I’ve ever read
I am in junkie for self improvement. I have read hundreds of books, and this book is my favorite of them all. His simple approach is way more effective than anything else that is available. Moreover, he is a great guy, from what I can tell, and lived his life in accordance with what he teaches. I would recommend this book to absolutely every single person in the world if I could, if everybody in the world knew the principles in his book and internalized them, the world would be an amazing place.

If you like spectator sports this is for you.
I don't care about spectator sports. This book was 80% about sports and 20% neutrality. Got tired of listening to play by play games and team strategies. I'd return this book but I already returned two others this past year and Audible may not like that.
Don't waste your credit on this one.
