Story
The modest lakeside resort in the small town of Blissful Point, Massachusetts, once offered an alternative to the crowded beaches of Cape Cod. Katherine lived there for years with her husband, James, a poet, and their cat, Barney. They ran the small resort during the hectic spring and summer months, then hunkered down and endured the often brutal and desolate winters in relative isolation. Their lives were uncomplicated, happy, and quiet–or so Katherine thought–until one summer morning when the dead body of a young boy is found floating in the lake.

Publisher's Summary
They wait....
The ghosts were there the day it opened for business. The Leeward Hotel is a mirror. From the moment its first stone was laid, it has reflected the mysteries of the restless and the restless Atlantic Ocean over which it looms atop a stark cliff in Cornwall, with guests frequently seeing the highly eccentric owners walking around the halls while they were supposedly locked in their private haven upstairs.
That was close to two centuries ago. Tantalized by the secret ledger of the Leeward's prying manager, Spectra investigations has come to look into what appears to be a doubly cold case of apparitions seen in the monolithic inn's heyday. Still struggling to come to terms with the recent accident that took the life of one of their own and nearly that of their sponsor, the renowned Dr. Paul Rindelle, truth-at-any-cost team leader Dayla McCale, and her team are about to learn that nothing—not even "life"—is how it seems.
And some who walk among us are even more dangerous when they're dead.

Would have given 0 stars if possible
I was given this book for free from audiobook boom and asked to leave an unbiased review for the author and narrator.
Between the story and the narrator I could have used this book to put me to sleep at night. Come on Mr. Candela, you wrote a story about ghost hunting, but felt it necessary to throw in a kid trying to masturbate while conning a woman into showing him her breasts, and a little pedophilia and Bob's your uncle. That’s a cheap and disgusting attempt to hold your listeners attention. The ghost hunting didn’t even really start till almost the end of the book. I would have been angry if I wasted a credit on this book.
The narrator just read the book, no attempt to make it interesting or any type of “production”.
