Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

Publisher's Summary
The dazzling new novel in the number-one New York Times best-selling series from Clive Cussler, the grand master of adventure.
When Kurt Austin is injured attempting to rescue the passengers and crew from a sinking yacht, he wakes with fragmented and conflicted memories. Did he see an old friend and her children drown? Or was the yacht abandoned when he came aboard? For reasons he cannot explain, Kurt doesn't trust either version of his recollection.
Determined to know the truth, he begins to search for answers, and soon finds himself descending into a shadowy world of state-sponsored cybercrime, and uncovering a pattern of vanishing scientists, suspicious accidents, and a web of human trafficking. With the help of Joe Zavala, he takes on the sinister organization at the heart of this web, facing off with them in locations ranging from Monaco to North Korea to the rugged coasts of Madagascar. But where he will ultimately end up - even he could not begin to guess.

Fabulous!
If you could sum up Ghost Ship in three words, what would they be?
A great yarn!
What did you like best about this story?
This was a more sophisticated story from Cussler. His books are always entertaining but this one didn't require the total suspension of belief that most do.
What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?
Scott is a steady presence and a favorite of mine. With these works he does tend to over dramatize some of the dialogue, though.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Throughout the book I was thinking, "this isn't your father's Cussler book."
Any additional comments?
Great story and very well crafted!

GHOSTLY OUTSTANDING
Where does Ghost Ship rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Top of the list! One of the best Kurt Austin books. Must read novel!
What did you like best about this story?
Enjoy the factual descriptive narration from the simple facts from the storyline, to the breakdown of the contents there were discovered upon to go ship?
What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?
Narrator did outstanding job!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
NOTHING! WOW, so many outstanding story lines. I liked how the female combatant interacted with Kurt Austin on and off through the book. Scott Brick makes the characters come to life and you can visualize the events as the storyline goes along.
Any additional comments?
If you're hesitant about reading a Clive Cussler book, this surely is a can't miss for first or long time readers of the Numa files... I rate this work right along with IQ 84, and Sycamore Row, as some of the top audible performances that I have in my library.

I enjoyed it from frustrating beginning to end
Good grief. They're dead, they're alive. They're here, no they're there. I nearly always enjoy Cussler's books but this is one of my favorites. There are no "givens" other than the fact that Joe would be a hoot to get into trouble with. And the magnetic legs climbing up the side of the yacht. Lots of wonderful fantasy ideas but much reality comes from fantasy!

not close to his best work
What disappointed you about Ghost Ship?
the story never really picked up into the heat and excitement of his other titles.
Has Ghost Ship turned you off from other books in this genre?
No
How did the narrator detract from the book?
no
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Ghost Ship?
I would have covered more of the ghost ship. It was not a big enough part of the story

One of the best yet.
After a while most of the Clive Cussler books sound a lot alike, but hey, you don't listen to these for an intellectual challenge. This one follows the same pattern, but the story is more believable, and Kurt and Joe are absolutely delightful. You could easily interchange their names with Dirk and Al and have the same story, but this story will really make you feel like you're listening to one of the good old original Dirk Pitt novels. would highly recommend this one to anyone who's a fan of the Cussler novels.
