Most of us think of sales as convincing potential customers to believe or do something they don't really want to. But that cutthroat mentality makes the process much harder than it has to be—especially in an economic downturn, when customers are more suspicious and defensive. It's far more productive (and satisfying) when salespeople think like Go-Givers and focus exclusively on creating value for the customer.

Great concept but left me wanting more
This book helped me to think harder about gifting and the positive byproducts associated with giving a quality gift, but it felt like mostly a promotion for his company.
I would have liked to have seen different and more gift examples... in the whole book he only mentions about 10 gifts that he and his partners have used. Also, the continual mention of bonus info if I go to his site and download the resources felt manipulative.... i bought the damn book so give me the info without jumping through hoops.
I like the idea, but overall it was lacking actionable steps and resources to make the process of "giftology" easy to implement.
I do not recommend this book.

No bonus but an okay story of gift experiences
I found it to be a somewhat interesting story, but nothing overly exciting. There is value in the content but the author is short on details and rather sends you to his website for "bonus information" about 10 times throughout the book. I actually went looking for this promised bonus information, and after having to register for the newsletter, unfortunately couldn't find it. I feel a bit cheated.

This book was a very long advertisement for the office Co.
As a sales person of over 20 years I was hoping to glean valuable information from this book about giftgiving to clients. I was disappointed. It seems to have very little valuable information and be mostly a book pointing to the author’s Co. that is a gift service company that companies can hire. I found that it did not answer some very basic questions like, “what if your company does not want to pay for gifts? Should the sales rep? Would that make them personal rather than business gifts? Could they be a tax write-off?”, Or “What if you are in a regulated industry that does not allow gifts? Are there ways around it?“, I have run into both of these scenarios over the years and this book provided no valuable information for some of those basic questions. I think this information could have been compiled into a small pamphlet. It’s not really worth the read. I like the concept of giftgiving and the author is creative. However, I did not find his book to be useful, and the sales pitch for his company at the conclusion let me know the underlying purpose of the book.

Self-Serving Bore
"You can gift people in this scenario, this scenario and that scenario."
"Quality gifts are best".
<Insert stories of transformation before-after> akin to: "Before I sent gifts my life wasn't worth living, now that I send gifts I have a beautiful wife and a successful business".
"And by the way, I have a business that does gifting as a service!"
I usually applaud anyone who takes the time and energy write a book, but this is a totally self-serving one, extremely thin on usefulness beyond "sending quality gifts works".

Read With A Grain of Salt
Though interesting and has some merit. Read with a grain of salt.
Many major companies have corporate governance policies that executives cannot accept expensive gifts. Note the Royal commission into Doctors gifts in Australia. It became illegal to do some of the things in this book.
Gifts with a corporate logo in Australia are tax deductible whilst gifts without and are expensive attract Fringe Benefits Tax. In the USA you will remember (one of our customers) Oprah had problems with TAX on cars that she gave away.
A Well stated book but pushing his company a little too much. John is correct in that one should show appreciation to Customers, Staff and Suppliers. I do it all the time, but things that do not elicit a Fringe Benefits Tax. nor compromise corporate policy. And not often,
A lot of major Blue chips do not allow executives to accept extravagant gifts.
You can do well with inexpensive gifts that have meaning. example the Pixel3 Shirt. Its a collector's item.
If I bought my wife a single rose, she appreciates it, If I bought a dozen, she becomes suspicious.
Check corporate governance policies before investing.
