Publisher's Summary

No one would say Keelie Lockhart isn’t determined.

Taking on the role of both mom and dad to her two young kids, she’s managing life the best she can. Saddled with a century-old dilapidated farmhouse she can’t afford, a bevy of goats, two dogs, and a geriatric donkey, the last thing she has time for is a man - even if that man is a knight whose shining armor comes in the form of worn-in jeans and work boots.

Controlled, methodical, and focused - Asa Hollingsworth takes charge of everything in life. Working close to home after years away, he finally has the time to focus on his kids. Little does he know, a chance meeting with a petite strawberry-blonde stranded on the side of the road, would intertwine their lives in a way he’d never want to untangle.

But when school bullies turn into something much worse, Asa starts to dig around. He never dreams the troubles lurking in the hallways of the local high school would shake his family to its core. With drug dealers lurking, bullets flying, and threats coming from every angle, Asa must do everything he can to protect the ones he loves.

Because in the end, there’s nothing more precious than the gift of life.

The Killers series is intended for mature listeners.

REALLY ENJOYED THESE TWO FAMILIES UNITING

What a very enjoyable and heartwarming addiction to the series.. because, from the moment 44 year old former Assassin Asa sees Keelie, he’s a man smitten. And thankfully Keelie feel that way too about Asa.. but she’s got a suitcase full of insecurities and emotional baggage that her scum of a dead husband left her with. But she’s got two adorable sweet young children who are their Mom’s whole reason for getting up each day.. well, them and a whole menagerie consisting of goats, cats, a donkey and a dilapidated farm he also left her with. Keelie is a Counsellor at Asa’s teenage son and daughter’s School.. which proves invaluable in the days ahead. So, between them, Keelie and Asa should have lots of barriers standing in their way.. but Asa knows what he wants and very quickly makes himself at home in Keelie’s life and in her home.. and soon introduces himself to her two wee children, befriends them and takes both families out to introduce ‘joint’ family eating.

They were incredibly supportive of one another’s choices.. of the relationship dynamics and boundaries.. and of their children’s delicate feelings while balancing and keeping parental control too. But angst and sinister drama will burst their perfect family bubble and it will bring danger and bloodshed to their doorsteps.. and secrets will come out. Their chemistry is natural and easy-flowing, their sex scenes sizzle and their passion and romance is palpable.

Worth a credit? Yes, this was a smooth listen as Asa and Keelie’s relationship flowed seamlessly to happy town where both loving families merged so well and I really really didn’t want to say goodbye to them. Jason and Kit’s narration was the perfect fit and brought Asa and Keelie’s story to life and they truly gave it the heart it rightfully deserved.

Asa

sigh*** He is the Ultimate book boyfriend.
This is one of my favorite books by Brynne. Asa is such a great character and what he does for Kelee is amazing. how selfless he is, kind, protective. Poor Kelee was put through the ringer from her past and her ability to trust is not easy but Asa is what she needs.
as always Jason and Kit do an amazing job!

Gripping, steamy, and intense!!

Brynne Asher's Gifts was intense, gripping, and heartfelt. I mean seriously, who doesn't love a strong, protective alpha male?! Asa Hollingsworth is that man! Gifts is book 3 in Brynne Asher's romantic suspense Killer Series. I adored Vines and Paths in audio, and I instantly one clicked this audiobook!

Kit Swann and Jason Clarke narrate this audio. These two have narrated this entire series so far, and they are fantastic! Kit Swann really moved me with her performance of Keelie. She does an amazing job of capturing all of Keelie's conflicted emotions, and I was just left mesmerized by her performance! Jason Clarke really inhibits Asa, portraying all his protective, determined, alpha qualities! Yes...the growl is strong in this one! Both narrators are so damn good!

Gifts is full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing. Keelie is a single mom and high school guidance counselor, that you can't help but fall in love with. Asa is a single dad, who is super loyal to the ones he loves. These two characters together have off the charts chemistry that is HOT! I'm looking forward to reading/ listening to more from Brynne Asher!

My fave (so far) from this series

Really enjoyed this one. I love Asa and I feel for Keelie. I love the merging of their families. All the characters were well written, even Emma cause for a while I was getting annoyed with her.

SO GOOD!!!

I adored everything about this book. This is one of those rare instances that I wanted to immediately re-read it when I finished. It had me smiling like a goof, sighing over Asa and fawning over the kids, goats and the donkey. This author really knows how to pull you in with every single character she introduces you to and that includes the animals.

If that wasn’t enough, Asa was an incredible Hero. Out of every comment/action he had in this book, there was only one time I didn’t like what he did and he made up for it immediately. That in itself is rare to find. He was mature, persistent, consistent, protective and one of the best dads I’ve read about. Not only was he a great dad for his own kids but the way he was there for Keelie’s kids was what put this man over the top.

I also liked Keelie as a heroine. She was a strong character and I love the fact that her and Asa’s ex-wife got along. No pettiness. All they cared about were the kids. She does have a lot of insecurities she deals with in the book due to her deceased husband, but that just showcased how good of a man Asa was with how he handled it. I also liked that there was no pining for the dead husband. To me that makes it hard to focus on the couple in the book.

Really, everything was handled in a way that brought greater enjoyment to my read of this story. The suspense was exciting and really brought out that protective gene in Asa. I think it’s safe to say I loved this book and highly recommend it!

Really good series!!!🥰❤💥💣

I think this one is my favorite so far but each book gets better and I love how the characters from each book overlap and support one another. Others have already given great ratings and I'm just giving my stamp of approval too. Love Jason Clarke (swoon) and Kit Swan is really great in the series too. Brynne Asher you've a winner here!!!!! Looking forward to the next book. Loving these so much.... Asa! Asa! Asa...oh what a man. Loved his story and how good he was to Keelie. ❣. But recommended that you start with book one so that you know the characters and appreciate each book and story.

Swoon worthy

Jason Clarke really did a fantastic job of performing Asa. It really brought something to the character. Kit Swann also did an admirable job with Keelie although she was so wishy-washy I wanted to throttle her at times. This book is very well done, interesting, plenty of plot and angst. Despite the topsy turvy life Keelie found herself in the steadfast Asa guided them through to a lovely happily ever after.

Narrators did Asa and Keelie justice!

Looooved listening to this audio book. The narrators did an amazing job bringing Ms Asher’s words to life. Highly recommend the entire Killers series on audio!
