Publisher's Summary

I’ll make her cry gilded tears if she ever runs again.

Esme was just a girl in a nightclub. Until I made her the center of my world. The queen to my kingdom. The mother to my child.

We had the future in our hands.

And then she left me on that mountain to die.

Little by little, I clawed my way back. Back to life. Back to strength. Back to where I belong.

And now, the time has come to reclaim what belongs to me.

Once upon a time, Esme thought I was her savior. She thought wrong.
Because by the time I find her again.... I’ll be her worst nightmare.

Gilded Tears is the second book in the Kovalyov Bratva duet. Make sure you’ve started with Artem and Esme’s story from the beginning in Book One, Gilded Cage.

Gilded Tears

Esme did not get any smarter in this book. She was a fool to try to run with a baby without any money and ends up in a shelter where she is robbed when she went to dinner. She was so annoyingly stupid. In my opinion, the books in this series are longer than they need to be, although I do like Nicole Fox's writing style. Alan Carlson and Allyson Voller did a great job with the narration.

esma is full of bs 🙄

esma puts herself in situations and therefore risks her sons life . she leaves a good shelter to go to a shifty one and when people mistreat her there she still stays instead of leaving or calling 911 for help atleast to find another shelter. I'm done with her she is stupid and I want to stop listening to this book I now hate esmeralda .

3.5 stars

After the love I had for Gilded Cage, this one felt like a let down. About half of the book was spent with our couple apart, and for such a long book, that just didn't work for me. And since that was the beginning of the book, I was already irritated with the book by the time it got good again, but it was too late for me to love it. I did enjoy the writing, this duet is my first time reading this author, and I loved the narration of the audiobooks, and I would happily read her again.

This story took me part and put me back together again.

When Esme made a heart wrenching decision to leave her husband behind, I had a visceral reaction. This story is so well-crafted, you’ll find yourself drawn in until the very end. The narration by Alan Carlson and Allyson Voller was excellent and on-point. Can’t wait to listen to the next in this series.

Gilded Story!

The “Gilded” duo by Nicole Fox is a fun read/listen. I’m not sure why this the series has not received the attention it so deserves!

The story is told in two books, each 12-hours long, which may be off-putting to some listeners. However, there is never a moment that the story lacks momentum. 12 hours go by in a flash bang because there are so many interesting and suspenseful threads to the story.

The two main characters are both from the same world of mobster families (hers, the Mexican drug lords; and his, the Russian Bratva), but in some significant ways, they couldn’t be more different. Their chance meeting in a bar, followed by anonymous, hot sex starts a chain of dominos falling from the start to the end of the two books.

The story combines realistic mob activities, action, suspense, violence (guns, knives, hand-to-hand combat), factional battles within the crime families, escape/hiding from the mob, wealth, and dark romance. There are many funny, interesting characters (some awful, some quite lovable) that are well-developed and that you want to see through to the end of their stories!

Most of all, you are taking a crazy roller-coaster ride with the two main characters, following them around the world as they try to discover whether they really want to be together, and what kind of lives they want to live, especially since they can never really “leave” the mob.

Highly recommended! Don’t miss this one!

Good

This was a nice ending to an exciting story. The first half was a little slow for me. But the rest of the story had plenty of action and steam. I liked Artem and Esme and that made it easy to cheer for them to win and get their HEA!
