Publisher's Summary

What happened to Rudy Giuliani?

That is the question millions of Americans have asked about this once-beloved leader. Andrew Kirtzman, who has been following Giuliani since the 1990s, answers that question in this fascinating biography.

Giuliani was hailed after 9/11 as “America’s Mayor,” a singular figure who at the time was more widely admired than the pope. He was brilliant, accomplished—and complicated. He conflated politics with morality and caused his own downfall with a series of disastrous decisions and cynical compromises. He made reckless personal choices and engaged in self-destructive behavior. His need for power, money, and attention gradually ruined his reputation, cost him friendships, and ultimately damaged the country.

Kirtzman, who was with Giuliani at the World Trade Center on 9/11, conducted hundreds of interviews to write this insightful portrait of this polarizing figure, from the beginning of his rise to his ruinous role as Donald Trump’s personal lawyer. Giuliani was a celebrated prosecutor, a transformative New York City mayor, and a contender for the presidency. But by the end of the Trump presidency, he was reviled and ridiculed after a series of embarrassing errors. He was a major figure in both of Trump’s impeachments, and ended up widely ostracized, in legal jeopardy, and facing financial ruin.

This is the remarkable story of how it all began and how it came crashing down.

A Liberal Reporters View of Giuliani

I am sorry I wasted my money on this book. It is another Liberals view on a great man . While Giuliani certainly isn’t a perfect person , he is better that depicted in this book.
If you want a Liberal’s view on Giuliani then listen to this otherwise if you want a fair unbiased view don’t waste your time or money on this book.

Finally the answer to “What happened to Rudy Giuliani?”

I couldn’t not listen to this book after asking myself this question with increasing frequency over the years since 911. The answer lies in the fact I simply didn’t know anything about Rudy Giuliani before 911.
Gripping, factual, and tragically sad, I now have my answer. This is a fascinating documentary of what happens when you are your own worst enemy,

Eye opening

This was a great book to listen too. There was so much I did not know about Rudy and this book presented him in a whole new light. I would recommend this book to anyone fascinated by the Trump/Giuliani relationship.

Kitzman the robot

How Kirtzman qualifies to narrate is beyone me. He has at most 3 notes to his vocal range. Can't continue. I'm sure the story is exceptional....

Well it had me riveted.

So I saw a review saying the narrator was monotone. I thought he was OK, tbh. I'm not sure I wanted funny voices for such a serious subject anyway. Even though I watched the car crash that is Giuliani play out on TV, it's amazing how such a formerly revered individual descended into the cesspool that he did. Then again, how many times have heroes turned out to be villains in reality? Well worth listening to, IMO.
