Publisher's Summary

Best seller in eight mystery and humor categories!

Rednecks, romance, and a last shot at redemption. Solve this twisty mystery before you die laughing!

After being duped out of her life savings in Germany, Val Fremden retreats home to Florida with more than just her pride in tatters. Broke, jobless, divorced, and 45, she knows starting over won’t be easy. But when her only friend suddenly turns up dead, Val begins to wonder if the world is out to get her.

Maybe it is...

The sugar-white sands of Sunset Beach attract weirdos like mosquitoes to a bug zapper. So when the will of Val’s friend makes the local newspaper, lunatics, and con artists stumble from their beach shacks scuffling for a piece of the leftover pie.

Determined to find her friend’s true heir, Val reluctantly turns to three crackpots for help - a drunk, a redneck, and a snarky beach bum. Working at odds with each other, their bumbling investigation attracts the attention of a hot cop. He quickly gets into the fray and under Val’s skin. Whether it’s in a good way or bad only time will tell....

Love..

Enjoyed this audiobook immensely! I didn’t check the release date, but I do know for certain that this Glad was was a perfect listen - and reminder to be grateful and Glad for those blessings you have and are - during this sh*tpocalypse that has been 2020. Please bring all the Glads to audibles! I’ve fallen in love, but due to an inner ear disease called Ménière’s, audible books are how I read 🤷🏼‍♀️

Great read!

Really enjoyed this book, laugh out loud fun. I live in Pinellas County Florida and everything from local landmarks to street names are spot on. The narrator was wonderful. Plan on listening to the entire series, I am hooked! Mystery, suspense and lots of laughs. Worth your time and money.

A of Breath Florida Air

I really liked this book. Glad One was interesting and fun. The characters were very likable, and I felt like I was there with them. I didn't know how it was going to end until the very last minute, except who the murderer was. I hope another audible comes out soon.

Strains credulity

If you like fiction with fantastical coincidences and implausible connections and actions, this is for you. If you like your fiction grounded in real world, then you might enjoy this book but you’ll have to look the other way at lots of stuff.

A Fun Book!

My coworkers looked at me because Of the laughing I did because of this book! Very enjoyable, and I surely hope her next excursion makes it to Audible. My multiple sclerosis keeps me from reading with my eyes too often, so I have to read with my ears! Thank you!

Hard to finish.

This lacked substance. Did not remind me of Stephanie Plum at all. Story didn’t include triggers but also didn’t include much humor. I won’t select any more from this series.

Val really is a Super Hero….

Val really is a Super Hero….or at least Margaret Lashley. I really enjoyed this audiobook wholehearted. Margaret Lashley created a wonderful world with a protagonist flawed, both were so well written that I wanted to head on down to Florida to meet the whole gang. I was looking forward to kicking my shoes off sliding my feet into the sand.
Sarah Pasek gave an outstanding performance as she had me feeling as though I was actually down in Florida hanging out in this wonderful local and meeting these zany characters.
I have already purchased the rest of this great series.
If you enjoy believable characters with a lot of laugh out loud moments, then this audiobook is for you.

A hug for the soul

I have read a lot of good books lately. This one tops it all. Mostly I read humorous books. I don´t read sad at all. That said. And I might not be able to say this without spoilers! One part of this story is so sad it is traumatic. And I have no idea how the author is able to write traumatic in a way that is also one part hopeful and uplifting. What ever it is, it is beautiful. Tragically beautiful. But that is life for you I guess. So yes, this is so very far from the books I usually read. Have no idea how I found this book, but am glad I did. While the story is advertised for it´s humor it is more about the underdogs in life. So more about kicks to the gut. The humor in the story is of course good, but far from the best part of it. In many ways this is the best self help book you can read, it has heartwarming acceptance of self, shows you strength in all it´s glory and will teach you to breath. This is also a seriously awesome mystery, with turns and twists that will keep to glued to the book till the end. And then wanting more. The storytelling is flawless and the characters perfect in their humanity. The story is that gripping it had caught me before I realized the story wasn´t a comedy. And I don´t do serious. Can I recommend the story more?
