Story
Amber Sand is not a witch. The Sand family Wicca gene somehow leapfrogged over her. But she did get one highly specific magical talent: she can see true love. As a matchmaker, Amber's pretty far down the sorcery food chain (even birthday party magicians rank higher), but after five seconds of eye contact, she can envision anyone's soul mate. Amber works at her mother's magic shop - Windy City Magic - in downtown Chicago, and she's confident she's seen every kind of happy ending there is: except for one - her own.

Story
Growing up, my father always told me that I’d come to a bad end, just like my mom did when I was a kid. Hearing that kind of stuff when you’re little eventually gets to a girl, but I can’t say I ever expected my "bad end" to involve an angry vampire with a severe case of iron deficiency and a panty-melting English accent. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. Ever since my mother was assassinated, I’ve felt like there was something vast and frightening hidden beneath the fabric of the world - something none of us are supposed to know about.

Publisher's Summary
Hidden in the city of Portland, Oregon is a shimmering world of magic--one faerie Olivia Feye doesn't want to touch with a ten-foot wand. She'd rather study biology, or garden, or floss her teeth, or do literally anything except pay attention to the Glimmering world and her internship at Portland's premier faerie godparent agency.
But when her supervisor is hospitalized after a flying pumpkin carriage accident, Olivia is thrust into the middle of a case. And this one won't be easy: Her client is Elle, a barista whose plans don't include an enchanted prom or Prince Charming.
The reward for a happily-ever-after is enough gold pieces to get Olivia out of the Glimmering world forever. But as she comes face-to-face with the complexities of faerie godmothering, she's forced to wonder: How much is she willing to sacrifice for her own happy ending?

Unique Cinderella Story With a Twist
I really enjoy teen fantasy and this book was excellent. I have never read a Cinderella type story where the Fairy godmother was the main character. It was excellent and the story sucked me in from the beginning and Kept my attention all the way to the outstanding conclusion.
Narration was good and brought the story to life.
The main character is Olivia a Junior fairy godmother that has been tasked with matching Ella with the most popular guy in school. The problem is Ella has no interest in the popular Jock. She defies her orders and decides to do what she believes is best.
There are some unique twists and Ella really shocked me with several of her crazy choices but although everything seems out of control things wrap up nicely for Ella.
The book leaves you hanging a bit because Olivia’s story does not conclude. I’m looking forward to the next book in this great teen series.

A standout in the cinderella tale
First of all, I love that this book was more than just a story about Cinderella. The female characters are strong, have their own stories, and pull you into their world. This story is set in Portland and I enjoyed getting to see glimpses of the place throughout the story. The humor is fantastic and sometimes dry which made me laugh out loud a few times because it was unexpected. If you enjoy YA, strong female leads, and a retelling of cinderella this book is for you.

Contemporary Twist on a Fairy Tale Classic
Olivia is a teenager who is trying to balance school and work while preparing to attend college. Instead of flying under the radar like she wants to, Olivia is named as faith godmother for a classmate. Now, Olivia has to convince the most popular boy in school to take hard-working Elle to prom.
I like the combination of a classic fairy tale with teen angst. Olivia is smart, funny, and honesty. The Glimmer and Hum-Drum worlds fit together well. This is a fun YA title.

Wonderful twist on a classic story!!
I adore story retelling. So much so that I have become quite picky about them. In those type of book the world building is everything! We are all somewhat familiar with Cinderella’s magical journey to the ball and the slippers that changed it all. In many version she is a saint, not in this one! I rolled my eyes at Ella multiple times during the story and sometimes downright felt ashamed of her action. While she isn’t a terrible person she makes terrible choices along the book which makes her more relatable then her Disney counterpart.
While Cinderella is in the title, the book is about Olivia, a junior fairy godmother who has been charged with matching Ella with the typical jock for Prom. Ella, a typical save the wold geek, would never give him the time of day and he wouldn’t give her a glance. What’s a fairy godmother to do when she is split between doing her job and following her heart.
If this was a book I would say this is a page turner Since there are no actual pages involved, lets just say this was over right after it began. I can’t wait to listen to the sequel!

I couldn't even wait until I was finished...
What made the experience of listening to Glimmers of Glass the most enjoyable?
This audio book is so magical. It is both well written and exceptionally well performed. I absolutely felt like I was actually in the story with the characters. The only negative is that I need the next book in audio form right now <3
Who was your favorite character and why?
The fairy queen, because she is both powerful and humble.
What about Gillian Rose’s performance did you like?
The performance allowed me to easily sink into the story with no effort at all.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
belief is power.
Any additional comments?
Love love love this, highly recommend
