Publisher's Summary

“You want to make your life easier? Then be the caged bird that you are and sing.”

For 10 years, I’ve lived in a gilded cage inside King Midas’s golden castle. But one night changed everything.

Now I’m here, a prisoner of Fourth Kingdom’s army, and I’m not sure if I’m going to make it out of this in one piece. They’re marching to battle, and I’m the bargaining chip that will either douse the fire or spark a war.

At the heart of my fear, my worry, there’s him - Commander Rip.

Known for his brutality on the battlefield, his viciousness is unsurpassed. But I know the truth about what he is.

Fae.

The betrayers. The murderers. The ones who nearly destroyed Orea, wiping out Seventh Kingdom in the process. Rip has power sizzling beneath this skin and glinting spikes down his spine. But his eyes - his eyes are the most compelling of all.

When he turns those black eyes on me, I feel captive for an entirely different reason. I may be out of my cage, but I’m not free, not even close.

In the game of kings and armies, I’m the gilded pawn. The question is, can I outmaneuver them?

This is the captivating second book of The Plated Prisoner series. It’s an adult epic fantasy story blending romance, intrigue, and beautiful imagery. Return to the seductive story of magic inspired by the myth of King Midas and get caught up in the world of Orea.

Please note: There is explicit language and romance in this book not suitable for those under the age of 18.

Great story, horrible delivery

I love the storyline so much. This one even better than the first which started a little slow. The speakers voice is beautiful but her tone never changes. The entire book is delivered with so much gravity that doesn’t fit every single sentence. That I could probably stand even though it got extremely monotonous. But it’s also spoken so slowly I had to quit by chapter 5 and just read instead. Example: “he kicked me in the riiibbs”. A story should be delivered just like that…telling a story. I understand it’s a performance but it shouldn’t be delivered like an epic Shakespearean monologue with every single word sounding the same. Even if the speaker didn’t realize what she was doing, isn’t there a producer or someone who should’ve said, uh, no. Speak like a person and vary your tone to match the story?

Loving the books but narrator kills it.

Love the book but the narrator was just so slow and robotic. Putting the speed up to 1.25x made a huge difference in the flow.

The Twist

I honestly didn't care much for the first book until the every end. But this book was so much fun! I am running to the store for the 3rd book! I will actually end up getting the whole set!

Bad narration

Second book was better than the first but still very predictable which is a let down. The narrator still reads with way too much suspense.

Series gets better

I’m rating book 1 higher because I put this series off because of that rating. Just read book 2 before judging book 1. It should be a part 2 or something.

Just over here dying until audiobook 3 comes out.

Solidddd 5 star. These books are so original to me. They are the right blend of mythology, Fae Fantasy, and Romance. I finished this so fast! The whole time I listened I kept saying you need to pace yourself... and that didn't happen. I devoured it. Glint was way better than the Gild. I almost didn't continue the series because I just thought it was a little overhyped... but now I can't wait for Gleam. I needddd more of Rip/Slade/who cares what you call him... but really when is the next one coming?

Amazingly good but needed to be dual narrated

I liked this book even more than the first one. I have to admit it was painful to follow Auren's awakening and I was thrilled she started to stand up for herself. I really hope she unleashes hell in the next book. Just wish the next instalment was already available on audio book too. The only way to make it better was if there was a dual narration. Saying that Zara's voice (including male) were really good.

Very little action

Not much is happening in this book. All plot reveals are visible from mile away. But it is still somewhat enjoyable. I will be buying next book, just wishing there is more action.

Female narrator not for me

The female narrator is all one note. Hard to listen to and gives Auren no personality.

***THE TWIST IN THE END OMG***

I never in a million years expected that twist in the end 😳 ok this series is getting exciting. I disliked King Midas ao much and i'm glad Auren woked up and stop acting like a doormat grrrr. Rip oh wow the surprised is unexpected. i would have liked more Rip pov not just Auren and Queen Melina who is actually i felt sorry for. Blake and Zara are fantastic in their narratives.

Glint Review

The performances were really great. Zara Eden has a beautiful voice & Blake Lockheart’s parts were BRILLIANT. The story isn’t paced that great, but I love the new characters.
