Publisher's Summary

"Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney plumbs the depths of marriage, motherhood and friendship with warmth and wit. I devoured it in one gulp! Treat yourself to some Good Company." (Maria Semple, author of Today Will Be Different

A warm, incisive new novel about the enduring bonds of marriage and friendship from Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney, author of the instant New York Times best seller The Nest

Flora Mancini has been happily married for more than 20 years. But everything she thought she knew about herself, her marriage, and her relationship with her best friend, Margot, is upended when she stumbles upon an envelope containing her husband’s wedding ring - the one he claimed he lost one summer when their daughter, Ruby, was five.

Flora and Julian struggled for years, scraping together just enough acting work to raise Ruby in Manhattan and keep Julian’s small theater company - Good Company - afloat. A move to Los Angeles brought their first real career successes, a chance to breathe easier, and a reunion with Margot, now a bona fide television star. But has their new life been built on lies? What happened that summer all those years ago? And what happens now

With Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney’s signature tenderness, humor, and insight, Good Company tells a bighearted story of the lifelong relationships that both wound and heal us.

But the ending....

This book had me from the very first words uttered. Loved everything about the story & the characters. But the author sure did leave a lot to be desired with that ending....or lack thereof. Those of us who read these kind of stories like endings, whether it be happy or sad, we need/want to know what happens. I, for one, don’t like being left hanging like this, unless it’s part of a series (which I don’t think this is). Good book but just beware there is NO ending.

Don’t. Don’t waste your time or money

This was the biggest waste of time ever. No real point to the story and takes way too long to even get to the “point“

Not for me

Keep waiting for it to get started, it never did and then was over. I wouldn’t recommend it

Boring and predictable

Read it all before. I kept waiting for the twist or excitement. Mundane. Nicely written but nothing new!

Smart, Sweet and Relatable

I love this book and the author’s intentionality. Everything had a purpose and a rhythm. I fell in love with the characters and felt as if I were a part of the story. This was truly enjoyable, as a stay at home Mom I was able to listen to this as I went about daily chores. Now I want to find more books by Cynthia!!

Not my Favorite

I found it slow and not much of a plot line. Not worth my time.

Great villains

I read Nest and Good Company. Leo was an awesome despicable villain, and poor Julian was just a standard selfish pretty boy who couldn’t resist temptation. Both stories are fun and engaging.

Waste of time!

Very disappointing book, would not recommend. Don’t waste your time! Only good thing is narration.

Wonderful narration

The narrator is really excellent. The book is a family drama which started well but by the last quarter began to drag & become boring as I found I didn’t particularly care about these made up actors and the rather drawn out details of the characters thoughts & actions. The writing is good but too many small details. I skipped to the end but had already guessed correctly what it would be.

Brilliantly read contemporary fiction

Superb performance by the narrator. Just right. Loved the characters; loved the story. Sad when it finished. Even better than The Nest.
