He crept forward between the tall narrow aisles created by the shelves. Just before he reached the corner he heard a thump, the sound of a body hitting the floor. He rushed forward into the corner of the room. The desk was empty. The chair was pushed up against it, neatly awaiting its usual occupant. No one was in the corner. No one was there to make the sound. No one...alive.

Mary floated across the room, shaking her hands in frustration. Finally, she turned back to Mike. “When will the men in my life realize that no one is responsible for watching over me?” she asked sadly. “I am a grown woman. I am a former police officer. I am not some hot-house flower that can’t handle my own life and my own safety.” Victoria sighed loudly and rolled her eyes.

Story
Detective Sean O'Reilly is called in to interrogate a young boy who is the only witness to a massacre during a gang war. The child's story is too far-fetched for most of the Chicago Police Force to believe - claims of an army of other-worldly creatures who attacked and dismembered the rival gangs. But Sean O'Reilly believes him, because he's seen them himself. An encounter he had as a boy in a dark forest in Ireland did not just give him nightmares, but changed his entire life.

And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light”. But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e. murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Publisher's Summary
Black Friday - the official opening of the Holiday Shopping Season - and Patrice Marcum is stuck in the middle of her local superstore with a crying infant, a near hysterical desire to just abandon the diapers and milk she desperately needs, and the snowstorm of the century dumping a half-foot of snow on the parking lot outside. She needs a miracle.
The little old lady seemed sweet, but there was no way Patrice was going to leave three-month old Jeremy with a stranger. She looked outside at the snow-covered parking lot and saw yet another distressed shopper's cart topple over in the drifts. The old lady sensed her distress and volunteered to call a store employee to help watch over Jeremy while Patrice got her car.
The older gentleman, wearing a store badge with the name “Ron,” seemed too good to be true. What could be safer? Less than five minutes later, after brushing the snow off the van and driving across the crowded and snow-packed parking lot, Patrice pulls up in front of the store. Jeremy is not there. Pushing back panic, she rushes into the store and looks around. Jeremy is not inside either. She pushes through the line at Customer Service, the associate calls Ron on the intercom, and issues a Code Adam. When Ron appears and he's only seventeen years old, Patrice realizes the worst. “Oh God! They've taken my baby!”
Mary O'Reilly, Private Investigator, is decorating her office for the holiday season when the newly installed bell over her door jingles. She looks over to see a six year-old boy standing next to her desk. His name is Joey Marcum and he wants to hire Mary to find his baby brother.
Mary nodded. "Okay, Joey, but I'll want to work with the police on this one. Do you have any problems with that?"
Joey paused. "No, I guess you can talk to them."
"That'll be helpful."
"But you can't tell my mom you're working for me," he said, "Promise?"
"Yes, I promise."
Joey shrugged. "I don't think she'd understand, seeing that I'm dead, you know."

Cute
Would you try another book from Terri Reid and/or Erin Spencer?
I would possibly read another book by Terri. I didn't really enjoy Erin's narrating.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I like thinks that are paranormal but this was too cutesy.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Voices just okay. Too many she said he said.
Do you think Good Tidings needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I am sure it already does.
Any additional comments?
Kinda predictable so that made it a bit slow.

Not What I Had Hoped
Would you try another book from Terri Reid and/or Erin Spencer?
I will try one more because sometimes you just have a miss.
If you’ve listened to books by Terri Reid before, how does this one compare?
I liked the first one better.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Not she is fine.
Could you see Good Tidings being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
No
Any additional comments?
This book was too "formula" for me and lacked the suspense of the first book. I guessed the villain within a minute of his introduction. I hope the other books are not like this. I almost "put it down" but continued to the end to see if it was in some way redeemed. It wasn't.

Any additional comments?
I'm on book 5 in this series I love all the books. Terri Reid did a great job. There great mysteries. There's a love story - mystery without fowl language and sex. There just something you can really enjoy and listen anywhere. I love her books. The reader does a great job with the story. I hope there will be many more of her books

Another lovely Mystery with Mary and Bradly
I really enjoyed this Audible book and the continuing Story of Mary and the Chief of police. This story starts in Rockford, bu moves to Chicago where her family lives. Following information about where a kidnapped 3 month old little boy is. Brady is with Mary on this journey to fine the little guy and bring him home to his mother. Narrator does a lovely job with the characters voices and the entire storyline. Brings the story to life.

A couple of niggles that detract from the book.
Overall these series of books are right up my alley.
Despite a couple of niggles I had with the first book I decided to give the next two books in the series a go. Unfortunately there are still a couple of niggles.
The first is the narration. It's stilted at times, and pretty much delivered in the same tone throughout. But that said, although it's not the best, I've certainly heard worse out there, so I got through it in the end. Just be wary though and check the sample narration before you decide if you can tolerate it.
However, the biggest problem I had was the references to some of the storylines in the previous book. If you haven't listened to that book then those references are hard to put into context as they don't seem fully explained.
If that continues to be a feature, then it might very well put me off buying any further books in the series.
