Publisher's Summary

Jack Sigler, Callsign: King, has been a lot of things in his life. A soldier, a father, a hero. But now he's taking up a new title: guardian.

After a life fighting billionaire madmen, terrorists, and unnatural threats, he's stuck thousands of years in the past, using his knowledge of history and modern warfare to right wrongs and stand up for those in need.

When he meets a 12-year-old boy - the prince of the Babylonian Empire - who is to be sacrificed to the ancient goddess Tiamat by a twisted High Priest, King steps in, sword swinging. But what starts as a simple snatch-and-grab, quickly turns into a pitched battle against a legion of men and hideous creatures. As Tiamat rises from her ancient resting place, the fate of the world - and King's future - is at stake.

Trapped millennia in the past and gifted with regenerative abilities, King must live out the centuries until he returns to his own time and his family. The Jack Sigler Continuum series tells the events that occurred in King's life as a result of the full-length novel, Omega, but no prior reading is required to enjoy the Continuum series. Each story will be a standalone adventure, and a great jumping-on point.

Critic Reviews

"Rocket-boosted action, brilliant speculation, and the recreation of a horror out of the mythologic past, all seamlessly blend into a rollercoaster ride of suspense and adventure." (James Rollins, New York Times best-selling author of The Eye of God)

HOW MANY TIMES CAN A MAN DIE IN ONE DAY?

Orion
The main character reminds me of Orion of the Ben Bova series. While there was plenty of action and weird Scorpion Men, I just could not get into this. I don't know if it is Jack Sigler, The Chess Team or Holloway, but this just falls flat.

Kafer is always good.

The answer to the question is no one knows. In the first half hour he died three times. It got old before the story even got started.

Fantastic!

What a great, fun listen. I honestly could not stop listening. Lots of action and extremely well written. Robinson & Holloway are a fascinating combination. I would strongly recommend listening to the other Chess Team/ Jack Sigler Thrillers before picking this one up as it does have some major spoilers that happen in those, however, if you don't mind spoilers go ahead and get this. I can guarantee you will not be sorry.

Jeffrey Kafer is King, I can't imagine anyone else voicing him now. Even when I read, in my mind when King speaks, it's Kafer's voice I hear. He goes a fantastic job of bringing the story alive, how he manages all those difficult pronunciations is beyond me. A first class performance.

Enjoyable listen, left me wanting more

What made the experience of listening to Guardian the most enjoyable?

I really enjoyed listening to Jeffrey Kafer narrate this book. I felt immersed in the story and was enjoying the journey. The story while sci-fi and dealing with time travel, was clear and engaging. I will definitely follow this series.

More Please!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. From the first few minutes I was drawn into ancient Babylonia with Jack Siglar. The story was action packed. Although I'm tempted to go back and read the series that leads up to this one it wasn't necessary for enjoyment of this book. Looking forward to the next one.

First in a new series

Any additional comments?

A thrilling adventure that can be easily lsten to in one evening! The story follows Jack who finds himself thrust back in time guarding a young prince who has been marked for death. Robinson and Holloway make for an interesting literary pairing! Bringing together fictional characters along with an interesting mixture of biblical characters.

Interesting story and lots of action

Again Robinson and crew leave us with another fascinating story full of lore and adventure. Still haven’t found a book he writes I don’t like. That rarely happens to me as a listener. And I read and listen. No other author I follow, do I insist on a listen over reading more. It makes his stories come alive in my mind. And he has consistently picked the perfect narrator for every world he builds. Excellent storyteller.

Nice short listen

I like the novellas. Especially those that go into the past because then you’re not hearing the same reminders from prior books.

Making history

What a great peek into King's experiences during his time in the past. Seeing mythical stories unraveling during their own time period made this one of the more interesting Chess Team stories yet! A great read.

History as you wish it was taught!

If my history class had been a fraction this interesting, I may have actually paid attention!

Robinson's attention to detail and his historical knowledge combine with the wicked storyteller in him and produce a fantastic novella about Jack West, callsign King, 200 years after he is thrown into the distant past.

in this novella he meets the Biblical prophet Daniel, and this is just where is starts to get interesting...

Excellent

Learning what happened in the missing years is excellent.
Entertaining, intriguing, continues in the same sense.
