Publisher's Summary

She changed her name. Her look. Her location. But what if running away isn’t enough to save her?

Physical therapist Scarlett Reed is looking for a fresh start when she takes a job in another state. Her rules are simple: Don’t get close to anyone, and flee at the first sign of danger.

Wounded soldier Malcolm McCoy plans to work hard in rehab so he can get back to saving the world. He isn’t looking for a relationship, but something about prickly Scarlett intrigues him more than it should.

When she needs a place to stay, Mal offers her the apartment over his garage—and finds it nearly impossible to keep his hands off his sassy, sexy neighbor. Scarlett knows she shouldn’t get involved, but a little friends with benefits action can’t hurt.

Or can it? Someone in Scarlett’s past circles closer, waiting for a chance to strike. Mal will do whatever it takes to protect her—but it might not be enough to survive what’s coming…

As soon as they think they’ve weathered the storm, they’ll discover it’s only beginning.

From Friends To So Much More

Mal & Scarlett meet in a professional capacity after Mal is injured on a mission. While Mal believes himself to be in love with someone else, he can't deny the attraction to Scarlett, who is running from a past relationship. Together they find friendship and love and get their HEA. Samantha Cook and Gregory Salinas do an excellent job of narrating this latest book in the HOT series.

Great Slow Burn Story

What a great story! I absolutely loved Scarlett and Mal. This is a bit different from Ms Harris' other HOT books. Only in the sense that this is more of a slow burn when it comes to the length Scarlett and Mal fall in love. In other books it seems to only take a week or two if not less. In this book their friendship grows over months. I loved that. We get to learn more of the background of both and what makes them who they are. You also get to see a great deal of vulnerability of both. Another thing I enjoyed is that this story is that it takes place wholly in the US. Danger can come from anywhere. Scarlett's problems with her ex were so intense at times. I loved how Mal realized the difference between thinking he may be in love with someone who was not meant for him and the love he felt for Scarlett deep down inside. This was another wonderful read and I loved the HEA.

Gregory Salinas is doin a great job narrating some of Ms Harris' books. He is slowly becoming a favorite of mine.

another winner

I loved the friends to lovers . It really allowed Mal to be himself. You got to see how wonderful he could be. Scarlett was able to learn to trust and heal. She didn't stand a chance against him. This book was truly wonderful.

Emotional Ride

What an emotional ride. Abusive ex. Falling for a guy in love with someone else. Kidnapping. Emotional and physical torture. How much can a woman take?

Scarlett and Mal met in a hospital environment and they would end up visiting that place again for different reasons. They became friends and landlord/tenant during their time working together to rehab his injuries. Then they became friends with benefits. But he never hid from her the fact that he loved another woman. But does he really love her or was it the thought of her or someone like her?

When her past comes back to haunt her will Mal and his team be able to protect Scar? Will they be able to prevent the storm from coming?

I was a little surprised we didn't see more about Scar's recovery, but I understand that is not what this story was about. I just thought we would get a little insight. For what she went through it would have been both physical and mental therapy and it would have taken time.

I will admit I didn't have tears in this story, but I did have a lot of anger. I felt so angry that this was happening to her. Her ex was a piece of work and did so much damage to Scarlett, both physically and mentally, but the mental is what irks me. I know it happens, but it shouldn't. I am so glad she found Mal and he did everything he could to make her feel at ease with him.

I loved Samantha Cook as Scarlett. She showed her strength when needed, but really showed her vulnerability and "fear" really well. If you don't feel it, it's hard to portray well and she did a great job in my opinion. I have listened to Gregory Salinas alot lately and yet again he carries the alpha tone well. He handles the teasing from Scarlett with humor and when it was called for, he outdid himself with the anger on Scarlett's behalf.

Another HOT Winner!

Mal takes a bullet for teammate Wolf. Somewhat out of guilt as he is in love with Wolf’s fiance Hailey. His physical therapist Scarlett recently relocated to escape a stalking ex. New look, new name and new location. Also an intent to stay away from men in general and military types specifically.

They become friends, then add benefits. A terrific build to the relationship and a roller-coaster ride as danger sneaks in the door and leaves clues. An excellent addition to this already stellar series!

I grabbed this on audio - it is fabulous!

Fantastic Romantic Suspense story!!!

HOT Storm is the newest book from Lynn Raye Harris in her Hostile Operations Team- Strike Team 2 series. I adore this series of books, especially getting to see favorite characters in each new book. HOT Storm is Malcolm "Mal" McCoy's book, and I have to say I totally fell in love with Mal in this book.

Mal totally believes he is in love with his teammate's fiance, yet has a pretty strong connection to Scarlett Reed, his physical therapist from the moment they meet. Scarlett has moved away from all she has known because of her abusive ex-boyfriend, and isn't even going by her legal name. As her ex was military and in a special forces division, I worried she wouldn't give Mal a real chance when they first connected. I loved Mal seemed to help Scarlett come out of her shell a bit, and they had the best banter. I love a smoking hot connection between the main characters, but I also love when they can pick and joke around as well. Mal and Scarlett had it all...seriously smoking hot chemistry and all the jokes and laughter too. They gave me all the happy feels as a couple.

Scarlett's ex Josh was pure evil, and yet I knew he would show back up. I have to say I always hate the bad guy, but her ex took it to the next level. There was seriously no way Josh could ever be redeemed, and I was really hoping someone would put a bullet through is brain pretty much from the moment he appeared on the page. I loved how hard Mal and his team worked to find Scarlett and get her out of a horrific situation. Scarlett showed over and over again she was such a strong woman by not only surviving, but thriving after the hell Josh had put her through.

Lynn Raye Harris continues to pull me into her Hostile Operations Team world and keeps me wanting more. While there were parts of HOT Storm that were really difficult to read, I still adored this story. Ms. Harris is a master with her romantic suspense stories, and I can't wait to visit with all my favorite characters soon.

Narrators: Samantha Cook & Gregory Salinas

HOT Storm is such a fantastic story, with some pretty rough scenes. I knew the audiobook had to be done just right to feel the full effect. Both Samantha Cook and Gregory Salinas blew me away with their narration of this story. I was never pulled out of the story as both narrators moved seamlessly, and did an amazing job with all the different characters. Ms. Harris has a pretty large cast of characters. Im always happy to find narrators who can do such a great job differentiating the voices. I highly recommend this audiobook!

My favorite couple yet!

Malcolm and Scarlett's story was a real heart breaker for me. First, watching Mal who thought he was in love with his best friend's girl only to realize that Scarlett was it for him. It was hard to watch him love from afar when really he wasn't in love at all! Scarlett was sassy and fun and I loved her character. Hard to believe what she went through and could still be so spunky. Mal and Scar left an impression on me. They may be my favorite couple in this series! Great read in this series.

The narrators did a great job keeping me engaged in the story.

Such a great series!

Another HOT hit!! I've been desperate to get my hands on Mal's story and discover who his perfect match is, and Scarlet definitely fits the bill. Mal and Scarlet meet when he is recovering from an injury he sustained during his last mission. They become friends and this develops into more, obviously, because who could resist Mal?! I love the banter between Scarlet and Mal, and how their relationship develops into so much more. The threat of Scarlet's abusive ex adds the all important action element to the story. A must read addition to the HOT series.
