Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Kristen Proby returns to tales beyond the natural and normal with her brand-new, captivating paranormal romance series that is sure to capture your heart and make you believe in magic.

Returning to her beloved home of Salem after a trip away, Lucy Finch can’t shake the feeling of anxiety that suddenly plagues her. Nor can she shrug off her third eye’s urging that she has a mission she must undertake—a secret she must uncover.

As a green witch, Lucy has always felt strongest and the most at home in the forest, surrounded by nature. But when a disturbing dream wakes her and sends her fleeing into the woods, she isn’t prepared for what she finds. She expected her element. Perhaps a message from spirit. She didn’t expect to cross paths with a sexy-as-sin man straight out of a movie scene.

Jonas Morley isn’t like the other residents of Hallows End. He knows the town’s secrets, as well as Salem’s, and it has been his honor and duty to protect them for as long as he can remember. But the gorgeous witch who graces the town’s hidden border shakes him and makes him second-guess his directive. She calls to him like no other. But can he save his home and those under his care and still make her his? Or will their union mean danger and destruction for not only them but also those who live within the town’s borders?

Curses don’t discriminate, and the curse of the blood moon is the most determined and dangerous of all.

Hallows End is the first book in the Curse of the Blood Moon series.

The Witchy Story I Needed This Season

This is the witchy romance I needed this spooky season! Lucy is a witch who lives in Salem, along with her cousins who are more like sisters. Jonas is a witch from 1692 who lives in town locked in a time bubble. This story is a bit of a spin off from Kristen Proby's Bayou Magic series. The whole book has Salem, Practical Magic, witchy vibes and I absolutely loved it. I am always looking for stories that give me that vibe and this one was perfection! There is an underlying paranormal suspense storyline that had me on edge the whole book. This is a true stand alone romance, but the suspense storyline will carry throughout the series. I could not put it down and can not wait for the next book in this series.

I listened to the audiobook during a reread and Samantha Brentmoor and Sebastian York were perfect for these characters. I was immediately drawn into the story and their tone and inflection gave me everything I needed and wanted.

Wonderful!

This book was absolutely wonderful!

It is not just a romance book that is about two people finding each other and falling in love.

You get that for sure but it’s interwoven with the love that the family has for each other and the love the men that are meant for Lucy’s cousins who are as close as sisters.

You see the love of the neighbors and Lucy’s coven.

This book had the same feel of togetherness and yet an overall mystery that needs to be solved as the Three Sisters Island trilogy written by Nora Roberts.

I am so glad I don’t have a wait a full year for the next installment of this trilogy! I want more and I want to see more of how Jile’s and Brenda come together now that the veil has been lifted from his eyes and more of how Zach and Lorelei work through their own issues to be as one.

Le Sigh 😍😍😍

This book was narrated by:
Samantha Brentmoor—I love her voice, she is so talented
Sebastian York—he was a perfect fit for this story with his deep gravelly voice!

Bayou Magic follow up not as exciting

This start of a new paranormal series was disappointing. It had all the right ingredients for a fascinating read: a slightly familiar strong heroine, a sweet but sexy time traveling hero, a very cool setting of Salem, MA, some interesting supporting characters including a loyal dog, talented cousins & their future soulmates, their colorful moms, an evil villain, and various coven members. But the story drags and the hero and heroine have very little chemistry even though the narration is great. This is an ok mediocre choice but that doesn’t stand up favorably to the earlier series. A maybe choice for fans with 2 more books before there is resolution.

Another great hit from KP

I love Kristen Proby’s books for a good love story with a family element. The witchy element to this story was enjoyable and I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.

Story good, narration not so much

This is a book that is narrated by two people, not in the usual way, the male voice doing the male character and the female voice doing the female characters, but each narrator does alternating chapters. It is a true jolt at the beginning of each chapter to try to once again figure out the different characters by the new narrator. The male voice was a deep robust voice, then switch to the female narrator and she has a light high voice and does male characters very poorly. It made it very difficult to tell who was supposed to be talking. I think this way of narrating is very confusing and detracts from the story line, reading would be highly preferable to listening this way.

Fantastic

Hallow’s End is a very unique and intriguing tale that caught my attention from the very first page.

Lucy is a green witch, who feels at home in her forest in Salem. Returning to her hometown after an event that was life-changing. She treasures her families' lineage and the traditions they have carried on through the generations.

Jonas knows the secrets of Hallow’s End, and has carried them on his shoulders for over 300 years. He has watched the world change while he has seen his own little village stay the same through the centuries. Jonas wants to finally break the curse that’s been lingering over his village for too many years.

Things change just a little when a modern day witch sees a handsome man from the past, and there is an instant connection. Together will they be able to break the curse?

Kristen Proby tells an amazing tale that puts us in the mood for Halloween. Hallow’s End is a story filled with magic, the traditions that stand the test of time, love and a bit of danger. Lucy and Jonas are absolutely amazing together. Their chemistry and even their magic know what’s up. The story is just magical in itself. I just from the very first page fell in love with his story. It’s magical and mysterious, but yet romantic and heartwarming. I am intrigued and can’t wait to see what happens in the next installment for those in Hallow’s End.

Additional note from the reviewer:

I also had the pleasure of listening to this as an audiobook. Oh my goodness it was not just the reading of an audiobook, but it was a performance. I thoroughly enjoyed the story reading it, but I have to say that Sebastian York and Samantha Brentmoor made the story even more magical, if that was possible. Audiobooks may not be your thing, but I would highly suggest that you give this one a try. Not only is the story absolutely amazing, the narrators truly bring this one to life.
