Love might not be what we think it is. We all seek the happiness that comes from loving and being loved, yet we often find ourselves dissatisfied in our relationships and unable to grasp the cause. Thich Nhat Hanh here shows the way to overcome our recurrent obstacles to love - by learning to be mindful, open, and present with ourselves and others. As he explains, "training is needed in order to love properly; and to be able to give happiness and joy, you must practice deep looking directed toward the person you love."

Publisher's Summary
Real-World Training in "The Practice of Happiness" with Thich Nhat Hanh.
Look deeply into the nature of the mind and you will find the seeds of true happiness and freedom. This was the Buddha's great realization - and it is a discovery that you, too, can make in any moment. With Happiness, Love, and Liberation, you will join Thich Nhat Hanh for seven sessions of advanced teachings and rare insights discovered throughout his seven-decade inquiry into the truths of Buddhist psychology. Understanding the Roots of Suffering - the First Step Toward Freedom. What are the ingredients for a life of genuine happiness? According to Thich Nhat Hanh, happiness only arises through a deep understanding of the roots of suffering - and through the cultivation of joy, love, and compassion that comes with daily practice of mindfulness and meditation.
Offering in-depth instruction in applying foundational Buddhist principles backed by modern science, he provides inspiration and support for healing the habits that lead to suffering and opening to the miracle of life in the here and now. From guidance to sitting and walking meditation to an examination of key Buddhist teachings including the Diamond Sutra, the Heart Sutra, and much more, these seven audio-learning sessions are intended to help us release our worries about past and future - and start living with ease in joyful recognition of the gifts of the present moment. Highlights:
- How mindfulness and concentration generate happiness and joy

- Releasing concepts that lead to suffering
- "Every step a miracle" - the art of walking meditation

Simple, profound, beautiful.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I have read extensively around the subject of Buddhism, attended different classes etc. and simply ended up being confused. There is no need to read anything else anymore; I followed my heart and have realised that Ticht Nhat Hanh has Buddha nature and is superb at delivering Dharma and talking about dharma. His books are all you need.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Happiness, Love, and Liberation?
Finally realising the truth of no-self and emptiness.

Helps toward understanding suffering and happiness
A lot of insights into understanding suffering. Several good suggestions for even using short periods of time to help you find happiness and understand suffering. I will plan on listening to this book a few more times to try and get all I can out of it.
A few times the noise from the audience was a little distracting, but not bad. The noise was the reason I gave 4 stars for performance. Thich Nhat Hanh's voice is very pleasant and nice to listen to.
This was the second book of his I have listened to and I plan on getting more of his books.

Gives the Guidance of an Elder
I truly enjoy this series of talks in Thay's own words. I listen to this during my commute to work to keep me present and calm. I also listen during breaks at work to help keep me grounded and to remind me not to be carried away by the demands of the office. I am required to speak to several bank clients each day. I attribute Thich Nhat Hanh's teaching for showing me the proper way to listen, understand the client's suffering and respond in an empathetic manner.

So.much wisdom.from such a.wise.gentle man
I love Thich Nhat Hanh and i find his words to be reassuring in the world we live in. The Dharma talks passed down from the Buddha to his monks and nuns throughout hundreds of years come alive when Thich Nhat Hanh speaks. I love to listen to him as l fall asleep. I wonder if there are any audio books by him that aren't being spoken to a crowd because sometimes someone will laugh at this gentle monk's humor. Which is jolting when you are trying to sleep. Great Audible purchase. I listen over and over again. I hope you will enjoy this book.

Thich Nhat Hanh speaks with such kindness and depth. His lessons are incredibly powerful delivered with both humour and humbleness. I was sad when I came to the end but look forward to listening to Happiness, love and Liberation again and again . The lessons are recorded live so do not expect studio sound quality .
