Publisher's Summary

The only things in Jersey Kincaid's world that she has time for are keeping her grades up so that she doesn't lose her scholarship to South Texas University, playing the bass in her band, The Prototype, and satisfying her coffee addiction. Oh, and the occasional random hook-up she indulges in to pass the time.

Love? Eh, not so much. Save that crap for a Katherine Heigl or Natalie Portman movie.

Jersey's seen enough in life (courtesy of her Pops) to realize that undying romance is nothing more than a myth used to sell books and movie tickets. As she knows too well, the only thing inevitable in life is death - love is definitely not promised.

That's why when Jersey meets Isaiah "Zay" Broussard, with his soulful gray eyes, quick wit, and easy charm, she's determined to remain aloof. She doesn't have time to get sidetracked by fleeting fantasies, even if she does feel an unexplainable connection to Zay she's never experienced before.

But when his interest in her only seems to intensify, despite her attempts to brush him off, she gets to see a side of him and herself she didn't expect....

Great Story!

Ok, so I was very hesitant to order this book. However, I figure what the hell, if I don’t like it I could always return it since I’m a member. Additionally, I didn’t want to listen to a book targeted for a young audience. I was completely surprised! This book was well written, the attention to detail was awesome. I felt like I was actually in the room with the characters. Although I usually stay away from one narrator books, but I was familiar with Wesleigh Siobhan and knew that she is awesome and she didn’t disappoint with this one. When I began listening, I couldn’t stop for 3 hour straight. This book keeps your attention all the way until the end. The epilogue really brought everything together. Don’t hesitate, this is a great listen.

Long winded

I struggled to finish this. Way to many chapters of this push and pull between Jersey and Zay. Jerseys stubbornness was annoying. The story didn't give me that umph I needed...ugh.

What a Beautiful Story!

I wasn’t sure what to expect when trying this book but a previous listeners review convinced me to try it. All I can say is “Thank you”. This author did an amazing job with creating endearing, relatable characters and the narrator brought the characters to life! It was really a great story of friendship & love. I couldn’t stop listening and finished in a day. If I could give an overall rating of 10 stars I would! Can’t wait for “Finding Kennedy” to come out next week!
Btw Wesleigh Siobhan has quickly become one of my favorite narrators!! She is amazing.

Beautiful and loving

This book is better than a happily ever after novel. I loved it and could wait to read the next book. I was so into this book that I could not go to bed until I finished the whole book.

Not the best. Great Narrator!

I'd been hearing about this Prototype series and thought I'd take a listen because you can't go wrong with the Narrator Wesleigh Siobhan. But this storyline about college students falling in love is too young for my taste and there was too much whining about the character Jersey's issues. I mean I felt bad for her, but dang!!!
Anyway, I'm committed to the series and will see it thru, I just hope it gets better. Right now, Ms. Wesleigh is carrying this book for me .

The perfect start

This is my first book by JC. I'm a new fan. The reviews were a little all over the place for me but I knew with Wesleigh narrating this book could only go up. this book is a slow burn but I'm sure it's just the perfect lay up for that show stopping slam dunk. It set's the stage for me. You do have to remind yourself that Jersey is a college student and has gone through a lot so wanting to shake her came to a hault. I had to remember when I was in college her age trying to find myself with a whole set of different problems. if you are looking for a fast pace traditional college love story this book is not for you. But if you want to experience a young love that has come together when two people least expected with the common thread of loss of love ones this is it. It cute, funny, ho4, sad and rewarding all wrapped together.

An unnecessarily long yo-yo of emotions

Overall, the story was pretty good, but there were lots of unnecessary twists and turns that drew the story way longer than it needed to be. I found myself struggling to finish at the point where there was about 4 hours left in the book.

Touching book

The story was a bit long but I enjoyed the book. My heart broke for the main character Jersey when she went to visit her father.

😍

I love this book. Being young and dealing with a loss of a parent I can relate too, being young and trying to run away from love I can relate too and being young and hiding your emotions from everyone I can relate too. I love Jersey and Zay. Ms. Howard did an amazing job. I'm her new fan.

Powerful

Strong plot ; strong narrator! Jacinta offers a deep, steady climb to the climax and an intensed study of humanity and real life. As Jersey discovers the keys to happiness, so do we the readers.
