A drunken wedding to a man who already rejected me once? Check. A hefty bet about how long it will last? Check. My feisty new husband, determined to make our friends pay up? Double check. I've never managed to make a real relationship last nearly a year, and there's no way Daniel will stick around long enough to win this bet.

Story
I never thought a night out could change everything. All I wanted was to dance, drink, maybe take a cute guy home for a night of fun. I met the guy, but the night ended as a nightmare. Screams and blood and tragedy haunt my dreams. I'm alive and I owe it all to the gorgeous marine who refused to leave me for dead. But how can I start a new relationship when I'm not even sure who I am anymore?

I’m everyone’s friend, but no one’s everything...I love working for Ballsy Boys, but when you make the kind of videos I do, relationships are pretty damn impossible. Guys find me sexy and want to either be with me or be me, but no one has ever cared enough to see the real me. Until I meet Troy...who shows up in a banana suit at my door. Long story.

Story
Saying I've had a crush on my best friend's older brother, Pax, most of my life is like saying the big bang was just an explosion. It's true, but I'm not sure that quite captures the essence of its true enormity. I don't think my advanced physics knowledge is going to help me figure this one out. But I think for once I'm okay with not knowing, as long as Pax and I don't know together.

Story
I’ve been living under storm clouds since my honorable discharge, but Julian’s the sun. I’ve tried everything to deal with my PTSD, but nothing seemed to help. So when my brother suggests a service dog, I figure I don’t have anything to lose. The last thing I expect is for the dog to come with a cheerful, quirky trainer I can’t get out of my head. I’m too screwed up for love, but a chance to explore a side of myself I didn’t realize existed until recently is too good to pass up.

All my life, I’ve dreamed of one thing: the perfect movie moment. I want a man and his boombox outside my window; I want kissing in the rain; I want a romantic hero who will take my breath away. Switching mail with my cute neighbor didn’t work. Swapping coffee with a hottie at the coffee shop just got the poor barista yelled at. And bus guy? Total bust. I’m starting to wonder if Hollywood got the whole meet-cute thing wrong. Sacrilege, I know. Is it possible the perfect leading man has been living in the apartment above me the entire time, playing the role of my best friend?

Austin never realized he was painting his life with shades of gray, until Keaton came along and injected a rainbow of color. Keaton is a tornado of chaos and paint, which turns out to be more exciting than I ever would’ve imagined. I love my organized, predictable life...or at least I thought I did. But what started as a casual hookup is slowly becoming so much more, and I find myself loving the beautiful mess more than I expected. When it comes to hockey, I'm all about the game. I've worked for years to be one of the best in the league, and l've done it without splashing my orientation all over the tabloids. My hockey image is one I've carefully cultivated, and after one night with Ezra Palaszczuk, I risk it all. He's cocky, obnoxious, and has an ego bigger than Massachusetts. And okay, maybe he's the sexiest man I've ever known. We'll never get along. Not when we sleep together. Not even when my possessive streak awakens. That doesn't stop us from falling into bed together over and over again.

The job at Sunday Orchard was supposed to be temporary. A chance to gain some work experience, to have some fun. I had not expected to be welcomed into a family of gorgeous and weirdly efficient lumberjack-types, or to find purpose in the tiny Vermont town whose claim to fame seemed to be apple-based products and copious amounts of charm. And I most definitely hadn’t expected to fall for Knox Sunday, my grumpy, burly, fifteen-years-older, reluctant roommate, with his infuriating lectures, his hot-as-fire body, his superior attitude - I’ve never been one to put down roots.

"Look out for Zach, and don't hit on him." My brother's request sounds easy enough. Keep an eye out for his best friend on campus and keep my hands to myself. Easy. Even if Zach is a quintessential nerd, who I've always thought was cute, I don't have the time to think with my...stick. There's only one stick I should be focused on this year, and that's my hockey stick. My goal once I graduate is to get an NHL contract. The last thing I need is a distraction. On or off the ice. Only, keeping to the rules is harder than I thought it would be.

I've been in love with my best friend since forever. Okay, fine. Like, kindergarten. It started out platonic, obviously, but then became.... Nope. Still platonic. The problem is that Parker Ellis has been straight since forever. And that makes it difficult to convince him that the two of us are meant to be together. And now, there's no point. All is lost. He's gone and gotten engaged to his high-school sweetheart - which means I have to grin and bear it, while pretending to be the happy, supportive best man, while he prepares to commit his life to a woman.

Military life is all I’ve known since I was born. But when a top-secret mission fails, I find myself suddenly discharged with nowhere to go. Mike Bravo saved my life, and they want me to join them, but there’s one small problem. Isaac “Iris” Griffin. He’s as irresistibly snarky as he always was, only there’s a big difference this time. I’m no longer closeted or scared to live my truth. And the truth is, I’ve always wanted him. It’s against Mike Bravo’s rules to fraternize with other team members. But something tells me Iris might be worth the insubordination.

Publisher's Summary
I’ve spent 44 years of my life telling the world I’m a carpet man. Is it too late to admit to myself and everyone else that deep down I’m really all about the hardwood?
It took me over 35 years to admit to myself that I’m gay, another seven to find the courage to say it out loud to anyone else, and exactly 30 seconds to develop a massive crush on my daughter’s music teacher. It’s really not my fault. Have you even seen those cute bowties he wears?
After everything it’s taken to get here, am I going to work up the nerve to come out to my ex-wife and my best friends?
Am I ready to shake up my comfortable, simple life and take a chance on Watson? Or, am I going to throw a wrench in my own chance for happily ever after?
Hardwood is a steamy, seriously with so much delicious tension, single-dad, gay awakening, low angst story, which happens to be the third in the Four Bears Construction Series. It can be listened to as a stand-alone. There are no shifters in this series, only the other kind of bears.

Bravery, Courage and Romance
This one was downright adorable!
This is book 3 in the series and can be enjoyed as a standalone as well.
I love agood slowburn burn medium angst romance and this was the perfect blend of both.
I felt emotionally for the characters and rooted for them throughout.
Everett and Watson complemented eachother well.
I was proud to see Everett evolve as a character and be brave enough to date Watson.
This was a highly enjoyable listen overall.

Not the best in the series
I love this series, but was a bit disappointed with this book. It felt like 80% of the book was the two MCs internally debating the same issues over and over and over. After Everett *almost* comes out for the 7th time and Watson tells himself not to like Everett for the 10th time it really felt repetitive. There were some funny moments (especially the sex toy incident) and cute scenes. But it really didn’t feel like much happened beyond the MCs having the same internal dilemmas over and over.

Loved it - favorite in the series!
While this is book 3 in the series, I read (listened) to it last since audiobook book 3 was released AFTER book 4 and I have no patience! This was definitely my favorite of the series, edging out book 1 in my opinion. It just hit the perfect balance of relationship building, lower angst, funny (more Stone-isms!!), sweet, sexy and romantic.
This is a series where the humor is a little OTT and I love it!
It was nice to catch up with some of the other couples as well as some of the lead-ins for book 4 (which I already knew since I read that one before this one).
Highlights for me:
- Everett being a brave guy entering in his first relationship with a man (although it took him long enough in the grand scheme of things!)
- Incident with the sex toy (trust me... this one is hot, embarrassing and funny)
- Watson was a sweetie who I really wanted to see get his HEA
- More Stone-isms - So hard not to love that guy and his sayings
No negatives in this one for me, so it gets all 5 stars!

Worst book of the first 3
The "in the closet" backstory drove me absolutely nuts with how long it progressed throughout the book. The story didn't start to finally get good untill there was only 1.5 hours left. I know every book in a series can't be great but Caulky was amazing, Nailed was good, this book Hardwood was so/so and I hope Screwed isn't bad with how we are progressing. On to book 4...

This was book 3 and I have to say that it was really good. At points I wanted to speed things up but without my help things got to where they needed to go. Watson & Even are so opposite that they actually compliment each other nicely. Add in an adorable little girl who hates veggies but loves pizza and tools and you have a winner in my world.

Be Yourself
This was a very special little story of Everette learning to be his authentic self. I was so ready for him to just be open with his friends. Watson is a patient person but he also has to think about his own happiness. I love the way the story turns out.

Nice story. It’s hard to believe that a man in his forties who works in construction would be so indecisive, but the reader of that character sounds too much younger as well, so a bit disappointing.

It was ok
I agree with another reviewer that there was too much internal monologuing about the same issues again and again by both main characters, and nearly coming out and then not doing it got a bit repetitive. There were funny moments, and nice relationship moments, and I still liked the book - but I prefer the other books in the series.

It gets harder the longer you stay in the closet!
One of my favourite Four Bears Construction stories - I’m always a sucker for an older, closeted guy embracing his authentic self! Everett loses his ‘only straight in the village’ status when he finally admits that he’s gay to his daughter’s bow-tie-wearing music teacher, Watson. Watson is happy to guide Ev through his first gay experiences while trying not to fall for him. I know other reviewers were frustrated by Ev’s lack of communication and his ambivalence about coming out to friends and family, but I felt his fear and confusion captured the older, closeted experience well - the longer you’ve spent digging the hole, the harder it is to climb out. Both men were nice guys, with Watson being particularly patient and decent. The vibrator scene was hilarious and I enjoyed the dynamic between Ev and his daughter. Audio narrators, Liam DiCosimo (Watson) and Tim Paige (Ev) performed well.
