Harriet Tubman: Conductor on the Underground Railroad was praised by the New Yorker as “[A]n evocative portrait” and by the Chicago Tribune as “[S]uperb”. It is a gripping and accessible portrait of the heroic woman who guided more than 300 slaves to freedom and who is expected to be the face of the new $20 bill.

Harriet Tubman was born a slave and dreamed of being free. She was willing to risk everything - including her own life - to see that dream come true. After her daring escape, Harriet became a conductor on the secret Underground Railroad, helping others make the dangerous journey to freedom.

This award-winning introduction to the late abolitionist, which was named an ALA Notable Book and a New York Times Outstanding Book, also includes a supplemental PDF with educational back matter such as a timeline, discussion questions, and extension activities.

enjoyed it very much!

the narration was compelling, full of emotion without turning the subject into caricatures. The story felt like a fictional novel at times in the way things were described with such detail, but it never felt over the top. I reccomend it

More than you though you knew!!

Loved it!!
Robin Miles is the BEST narrator!! She literally puts YOU in the time period!

I learned much more than I thought I knew about Harriet Tubman.
Yes, she's known as one of the most well known Conductors of the Underground Railroad, but this book gives you detail on the circumstances that started her journey and the motivations that kept her going.
Harriet's ingenuity, perseverance and wit and even her heartaches and regret shine throughout this book and Ms. Miles' narration brings her out into a three dimensional character.
Harriet had parents who loved her, siblings she loved & fought with and for; a love life that never quite matched her dreams. She worked tirelessly, on the right side of history, to free not just her loved ones and other enslaved persons in the Tidewater area of Maryland, but the soul of America!!
Why isn't she on the twenty dollar bill yet??!!

great read!!!

We all go through things but how we go through them is important. Harriet 's story is another story of triumph with the help of a good God and the tenacity of keeping her mind on Him. We will experience difficulties in life but look to the Father to deliver us out of the evil ones hand. This story strengths my faith and inspires me to keep lending a helping hand even to those who don't realize they need the help. I am a mentor and every child and especially children of color should know the evils overcame by the forerunners. We cannot do life alone, we need Gods help. It is evident that others who went through what she went through would have lost their sanity and peace of mind. She overcame people and what they thought about her to save many lives. This is a quality many older adults lack. As you can see I enjoyed the details of her not just talking the talk but walking the walk. I encourage you to listen/read and share Harriet Tubman's story.

Informative and Riveting

This story begins with a young Harriet Tubman and takes us to her death. We learn how she was raised, which helps to explain how she became the remarkable human conductor that made her famous. The story is extremely well told. The six hours fly by, and you're wishing for more.

The Respect She Deserves

This book was an incredible gift of knowledge to the reader. The narration was perfect, and far greater than the many other Harriet Tubman books that I have listened to. This book captures more of Harriet Tubman as a person and not a simple folktale. This needs to be circulated through every public school in the nation. the Author did this woman Justice and the Narrator brought her to life!
