Publisher's Summary
Have a Nice Day features a live multi-cast script reading captured over two evenings in October of 2018 at Audible’s Minetta Lane Theatre in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village.
Tony and Emmy Award-winner Billy Crystal leads an all-star cast including Oscar winner Kevin Kline (President David Murray) and four-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening (First Lady Katherine Murray) in a performance of this hilarious and poignant story about a man desperately scrambling to put his affairs in order: to save his presidency, his marriage, his relationship with his daughter - and possibly his life.
President David Murray starts the day in crisis. He’s lost control of Congress, has to decide whether to run for a second term, and his wife and teenage daughter are barely talking to him. What’s more, the Angel of Death has sent a rather inept “repo man” who is at the foot of his bed, giving him only one more day to live.
Cast members include Justin Bartha, Irene Bedard, Annette Bening, Chris Cafero, Dick Cavett, Auli'i Cravalho, Billy Crystal, Rachel Dratch, Darrell Hammond, Christopher Jackson, Robert King, Kevin Kline, and Robin Thede.

Story
Billy Crystal is 65, and he's not happy about it. With his trademark wit and heart, he outlines the absurdities and challenges that come with growing old, from insomnia to memory loss to leaving dinners with half your meal on your shirt. In humorous chapters like ""Buying the Plot"" and ""Nodding Off,"" Crystal not only catalogues his physical gripes, but offers a road map to his 77 million fellow baby boomers who are arriving at this milestone age with him. He also looks back at the most powerful and memorable moments of his long and storied life, from entertaining his relatives as a kid in Long Beach, Long Island, and his years doing stand-up in the Village, up through his legendary stint at Saturday Night Live, When Harry Met Sally, and his long run as host of the Academy Awards. Listeners get a front-row seat to his one-day career with the New York Yankees (he was the first player to ever ""test positive for Maalox""), his love affair with Sophia Loren, and his enduring friendships with several of his idols, including Mickey Mantle and Muhammad Ali. He lends a light touch to more serious topics like religion (""the aging friends I know have turned to the Holy Trinity: Advil, bourbon, and Prozac""); grandparenting; and, of course, dentistry. As wise and poignant as they are funny, Crystal's reflections are an unforgettable look at an extraordinary life well lived.

Midlife crisis in the white house
This is a fun comedy about POTUS having a midlife crisis. His teenage daughter is pulling away, and embarrassed by him. His wife is missing their old life (which causes a silly, funny scene where they try relive a game they played back when they were young, poor newlyweds). He also needs to decide if he wants to run for a second term - after having a rather unsuccessful first term. All this while dealing whit the media and paparazzi.
While it is about the POTUS, it is not caught up much in modern politics. Which party this guy is from was not clear to me. There was no obvious jabs at the current president (I which I guess is good or bad, depending on your view of him). It's a comedy about people, with a political background, not a political comedy.
It is a live recording of a performance, in front of an audience. The quality of the recording reflects that. It is fairly good, but not perfect. As with a live audience you do get a lot of laughter in the recording. The All-Star class is great. Really enjoyable.

Extremely enjoyable and family friendly too.
The cast was amazing and the story was heartfelt. Good times. I'd suggest this to anyone with 2 hours to spare.

Really enjoyed this!
I have come back to this story time and time again since first hearing it over the summer...it feels like every time I listen I find there’s something different about the performances or background moments that strikes me-so many funny silly moments mixed with some others filled with pathos and love and laughter-all the bits that make up life! For a TLDR review...a great script, with great performances makes for a great recording!

More Drama than Comedy
Thought it would be funnier, Raj! was funnier on the Plus Catalogue & I'd listen to it again... Surprising-ish twist at the end, wouldn't listen a 2nd time, just a couple of chuckles nothing very funny to me,sound effects were okay.I could tell some of the comedy was visual & missing in the audio.

What a wonderful discovery
I loved everything about this, the atmosphere of an event (by great actors no doubt for great actors and film and theatre people and their families) and the sense of really being at an event. I thought the writing was excellent (Billy Crystal is wasted as an actor….just joking but just imagine that he could have been writing more of these good hearted moral charming funny thought-provoking scripts over the years). We listened driving home from Wells and then we didn’t get out of the car until it ended. Excellent. Thanks Audible.

Performances are everything - mostly!
The story wasn't stunning - a little formulaic - but wow - the performances
Billy Crystal - amazing - timing is everything
Kevin Kline - resurrecting Dave - loved his delivery
And everyone else - almost perfect - especially for free

Warning if driving whilst listening …
You may cry at the end, as I did, so you have been warned if you’re driving whilst listening. Superb performances all around and it being recorded front of an audience added to the performance. I’m so glad I downloaded this free from Audible - I loved it.

Great production of play with a weak ending
It is great to get this play, among several audio books, free to members - and at a shorter length than most books. I have tired of long books sometimes, however wonderful they are, like Middlemarch, but at 35 hours these can be a slog.
'Have a Nice Day' has a splendid cast, and is beautifully realized as a radio play - of an old-fashioned sort. I worked for several years as a radio drama producer in Australia, and plays of this style were seldom heard after about the 1970s. There is now no radio drama broadcast in Australia, sad to say, and there has been very little in the USA for many years. Only in Europe does the art form continue, particularly in Germany and the UK. So it was good to hear a radio play written and produced just in the last couple of years. The story was excellent, but I thought the ending was weak - the no-name man, the Angel of Death, gave an explanation for offering himself in place of David Murray, as the next person to die, but the explanation sounded quite unconvincing to me. In a play in realistic style, he needed to come up with something more compelling than this. So the story limped off the radio 'stage'.

Lovely story
What a really lovely story this is. I really didn’t know how it would end, and I was really delighted with the way it worked out. The performances were spectacular, not surprising given the actors. 10 out of 10.
