Publisher's Summary

Four diverse young women meet after attending a very popular HBCU; each at a crossroads in their lives. Born and raised in the heart of Brooklyn, Franki doesn’t take crap from anyone. After relentlessly being hurt by the men in her life, she finds herself using them for the one thing she believes they’re good for. Sex. But when she’s labeled for her promiscuity and a new tragedy strikes, how will she recover? Paris, on the other hand, has led a life of privilege out in Beverly Hills; one that didn’t include very many minorities in her circle.

When her mother sends her off to an HBCU in hopes that she’ll reconnect with her people, she finds herself culture shocked. Asha, the local girl, is a complete slacker when it comes to school and anything else that doesn’t align with her future plans of becoming a basketball wife. She is a user and a mastermind manipulator that will ultimately have to pay a price. Then lastly there’s Hope, the good girl. Raised by her father and brought up in the church, she’s been sheltered most of her life. But when she falls hard for the big man on campus and gets her heart crushed to pieces, will she persist?

Told from each character’s distinct point of view, this narrative is about each young woman navigating the dynamics of sex, love and heartbreak in college. Being outcasts in their own right, these four young women ultimately forge a very unique bond.

Great read

I throughly enjoyed the reading of this book. So much so that this was my first time leaving a review and not just stars. Great story. Can’t wait to read part 2.

Great Story!

Narrator Ikane was everything in this book! She really showed her skills with this one.
The storyline was good, but as a woman of a certain age, the characters and their experiences were just too young for my taste. But it was definitely a good listen!

I Need More

⭐⭐⭐3.5 Stars

These four young ladies presented a very interesting tale very reminiscent of people we all knew during our college days. Asha was so easy not to like. But, there has to be a back story as to why she acted the way she did...her brother Malachi on the other hand was very likeable....I'm curious to see if he and Paris keep their relationship going after that bomb he dropped on her at the end.... Poor Hope...with her inexperience, she forgot to tell Meeko to use a condom....now she's pregnant....I can't wait to see what happens with this couple, because he really did fall in love with her and she found out about the bet....Then there's Franki & Josh (Churchboy)....Josh has help Franki through some very tough incidents and it is evident that the two of them have chemistry. I can't wait to see what happens with their relationship. I'm also wondering will Franki's assault go unaddressed or will there be some kind of resolution?

Johnny Sherri is the BUSINESS!!!

This is my first read from Ms. Sherri, and I have to say, I WAS BLOWN AWAY. This book was so funny, so entertaining, and the cliffhanger at the end had me begging for more! Sherri is a masterful storyteller, detailing the experiences of four college women. I was immediately transported back in time to my own college days, with the language and imagery that she used being so potent and real. I loved all these characters, and they were developed so beautifully.

This was my first listen to the INCREDIBLE IIKane - I kept checking the narration credits to make sure others weren’t included, that’s just how good she is with voice acting. Not only is her distinction between the female characters pitch-perfect, but she delivers male voices with unbelievable accuracy!

If you haven’t picked up Heartbreak U, you will not be disappointed. 5 stars, all the way.

Love IIKANE ❤️

IIKANE did it again! Amazing job on narrating! Very impressed on all of her voices, and accents! I even loved the kids voice lol so talented! Storyline was good Loved Paris! “ your Lil Reesie cup” lol
Franki was my next favorite with her New York accent! I wish Hope was a stronger character was kind of annoying. Obviously Osha was easy not to like. I definitely loved how the girls formed a sister bond and how Paris wasn’t a stuck up girl and adjusted Perfectly to her roommates!
College drama and romantic.
