Publisher's Summary

Elias Emerson has worked hard and become a successful businessman. Fellow businesswoman Catherine Hutchison has been with him, helping him all his adult life, but he’s never really paid attention to her. She's just there.

He never noticed how much she did for him behind the scenes. How much she lifted him up and made him better. How much she sacrificed to give him the support and encouragement he needed.

Until she announces that she’s quitting her job and moving away from Prairie Rose.

Catherine Hutchison has spent almost two decades working with Elias, knowing he often took her presence and help for granted, but she considered him a friend and believed in him. Friends don't keep score.

Maybe she had a crush on him in high school, but he’d never returned her feelings, and they’d remained friends and business partners. His family was family to her, too.

Now, she’s facing the test of her life and needs to move closer to family.

Except Elias has a perfect solution she’d never considered.

Can two friends become more with the help of a crazy family and a Christmas miracle?

Another GREAT story by Jessie and Jay!

I am going through these books in this series about one a day. I'm really enjoying them and learning a lot about life, even in my old age. Guess you're never to old to learn something God is teaching you. Starting #4 right now.

Fun!

A sweet book of friendship turning into love. However, Elias almost misses his opportunity when Catherine decides she's been overlooked enough and decides to move away.

The author shows us how easy it is to take for granted someone who's always there. I have to read the story to find out just what happens between Elias and Catherine.

Narrator Jay Dyess does his usual awesome job at bringing the characters to life.

Midwest Romance

The narration on this story is very well done. I love how this story is approached in the narration with emotion and I could easily keep track of the characters. The story is really good which, I think, helped the narrator do such a good job.

this. series is even better!

How does she do it?
Each book Jessie writes is better than the last one!
I really need to get the next book, so I can follow each brother's life.
Jay puts so much feeling into every character he voices, it gets hard to believe it is all one man!
I have listened to many audio books, over the years, but Jay beats them all!
This is a "Got To Have " set.

never take for granted

Elias took his friendship with Catherine for granted, always just expecting her to be there. Catherine tired of waiting for Elias to see how much more they could be together decides to make some changes and ends up really shaking Elias awake. Sometimes we need a wake up call to see the things we take for granted in a new light.

Relationships

What I loved about this story is the theme about how we usually take for granted the closest people towards us. Also, it gave a chance for the reader to think about the perspectives from the other side, not to mention the importance of communication.

Kudos to Jay on this one. It’s hard to come across as stoic while at the same time be respectful and gentlemanly while as the story progress, Elias character was more open to his emotions. That, in my opinion, is a really hard thing to portray as a voice actor so yeah, a huge kudos!

Who are you grateful for, and do you show it?

This book really gave me pause to think about how I treat others. Am I grateful? Do I just expect what they do for me? How do I treat those in my life? Do I really even know them? Do I take my relationships for granted? Catherine took a chance on selling her business and moving in with her aunt and uncle to care for them when her heart was on Elias. And it shocked Elias into truly seeing her. Through this thought-provoking, loving, powerful book, I truly took a look at myself and my relationships with others. Audio: Jay Dyess once again brings each character to life. I loved how Elias was so sincere through Jay's performance, and how Catherine began to take a look at herself and her actions. Jay truly brings the emotions of the book out. I loved listening to the story again through his performance!
