Publisher's Summary

Don’t miss the first book in New York Times best-selling author Gena Showalter’s sexy, heart-pounding new Immortal Enemies series about a ruthless warrior hellbent on revenge, the fae princess determined to thwart him at every turn, and the desire that threatens to consume them in Heartless.

"One of the premier authors of paranormal romance. Gena Showalter delivers an utterly spellbinding story!" (Kresley Cole, number one New York Times best-selling author)

Vengeance is irresistible....

Kaysar the Unhinged One, fae King of Midnight, can drive anyone to madness with his song. A ruthless warrior forged in hate, he lives to force his enemies to their knees. He will stop at nothing to succeed - even abducting and seducing his foe’s beloved bride to ensure his own child one day sits on the male’s throne. Except, his prize escapes to the mortal realm before the first kiss, her heart transplanted into a human beauty with dangerous secrets....

Chantel “Cookie” Bardot is a professional gamer girl great at trash-talking, bad at peopling. After a long-awaited surgery, she begins to morph into a powerful fae princess. Catapulted into a strange land ruled by a cruel but seductive villain, she must battle flesh-and-blood monsters and navigate royal intrigues. But the true danger is Kaysar, whose every wicked touch tempts her beyond reason. Should she run…or descend into the darkness with him?

Don't Miss The Immortal, the second dark and sexy book in Gena Showalter's Rise of the Warlords series, featuring a cold and merciless assassin and a stubborn harpy warrior, both forced to relive the same day over and over in the hopes of saving her life.

Not my cup of tea

Heartless was lacking in so many ways. I hate books where there are no redeeming characters. The only likable ppl were the 60+ yr old best friend of Cookie and the cat. I found this whole story to be utterly ridiculous. Queen Cookie? Really. I like fantasy books but this felt fantastically stupid. I only forced myself to finish because i paid for it.

Disappointed. Narration and characters annoying.

I had to double check the category of this book. Romance contemporary?? Felt like teen or young adult. Ridiculous . Also narrator was too slow ,dramatic. Ugh. I have read all of Gena Showalter Mature books...was anxiously awaiting this new series. Original concept but very poor execution . Not my cup of tea. 5 hours into book..I called it quits.

Superficial

I love the author but this one is just not her best effort, Too drawn out and very predictable and although the reader has a great voice it’s too low or soft to be heard at times.

Cringe worthy over acting

Gena Showalters stories are always great, but the narrators voices were horrible. I tried a few different times thinking it was just me in a mood but I could get past the third chapter. It was almost as if he was mocking the book by his over reactions over the story line. I will read the book instead very disappointing

Gena has done it again!!!!

Wow! This just proves why Gena is my favorite author! I was skeptical because I have not met a Fae based book I've liked since I read Tithe as a teenager.

This book was great. The characters were dark, sultry, quirky and corny all at the same time. I love finding a book that fits all the action and adventure I'm looking for while having silly moments and killer sex scenes. I have not been this tied into knots in quite a while. This book had me hanging on the edge of my seat asking for more while also setting fire to me.

The Narrator I thought was Fantastic! loved his deep husky voice for Kaysar added the right aspect of madness and menace while being sultry enough to make my knees week.

His portrayal of Cookie I thought was good too. Silly, Quirky and mad all at once.

Even my husband mentioned that Adam sounded like an amazing Narrator. He only heard bits of the first chapter while I was getting ready one day but he has heard me listen to many Audiobooks and this is the only one he had anything nice to say about. lol

I would listen to anything voiced by this man and am actively looking into listening to more by him.

P.S. This book has very detailed sex scenes in it. It is for a mature audience. As someone who actively looks for this style of book I feel it best to mention so others know in case they want it or not.

Narrator woes.

I will updaate this as I finish if I finish. I love Gena Showalter books I haven't found one I dont like. The Narrator was over the top. I don't think his voice works well? Or maybe its just to much the variations of his voice for the characters are difficult to follow with I found myself not paying attention then have to relisten. This was the first time I've came across this Narrator and I just dont feel like he is for me and its potentially ruined this story for me. It might be better for me to get the book and read it myself vs listening

Most excellent

I am extremely picky about books and I loved this one. My only gripe (and it’s a small one) is that battles go too fast and easily in favor of the main characters. It would be nice to see a little bit more struggle, drama, and time spent there. Other than that, I loved the strong and relatable characters. I thought the amount of spice was expertly handled, and I enjoyed how the main man was flawed and dark, but didn’t really mistreat her. I hate it when books try to portray a strong leading guy and make him abusive and the “strong” woman just go with it. This one isn’t like that. They both have very human flaws and they respond to their own traumas in realistic but forgivable ways. As a gamer girl, I really loved that the leading lady uses her rpg video game experience to survive this world. Can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Solid gold

Narrator is fantastic- his main character sounds like Thor! His take on the elderly female character is amazing and could easily be a character from The Golden Girls.

Storyline is riveting, well paced and funny.

Great book from a great author brought to life by an outstanding voice artist.
