Story
Fun is the one thing Elsie Webb takes seriously. Though she'd be having a lot more of it if Haelstrom Media paid her enough to actually get out of debt. She's determined to hold out on contract negotiations for her kids' television show Fangley Heights until she gets what she deserves. There's only one problem, the head of the network just died and left her future more uncertain than ever. Forty-eight hours and one funeral—that's all Jones Haelstrom has to get through before she can return to her life in LA that's as ordered and sparse as an IKEA showroom.

Publisher's Summary
After tragedy strikes, can love blossom out of grief?
As an emergency room doctor, 41-year-old Hadley Moore has spent a decade perfecting the art of shutting down her emotions to focus on saving lives. But when her younger sister and brother-in-law die tragically, the pain of loss is too great to ignore. Reeling from guilt over letting her family take a back seat to her career, Hadley seizes the opportunity to make things right by returning to her hometown to raise the infant son her sister left behind.
At 29, Tyne Briggs knows firsthand how hard it is to grow up without a loving family. After being saved from a hostile foster home as a queer pre-teen, the young artist dotes on her large and boisterous adoptive family. When she loses her brother and sister-in-law in a car accident, her top priority is to make sure her baby nephew has the happy childhood she was denied.
Shared grief and mutual attraction bring the two women together, where they find solace and passion in equal measure. But they are soon at odds when each decides she is the best choice to give baby Owen a permanent home. Without a will to guide them, and with the two aunts unable to reach a compromise, a lengthy custody battle looms.
Cooperation and a common purpose could lead to true love and the creation of a new family together, but not if impulsive decisions and unsavory lawyers tear them apart first.
Best-selling lesbian fiction author Miranda MacLeod has written a heartwarming and emotionally gripping medical age-gap romance that will convince you love conquers all.

An okay listen
This book was okay. It had its engaging moments, particularly in the beginning and middle. I was roped in by the intriguing premise but overall I found the story was just missing something for me. By the last 45 minutes I had lost interest a little bit. I guess it just felt formulaic, especially as events transpired that were obviously going to careen toward the inevitable major miscommunication towards the end. I really wish more romance writers would write sensible, adult conversations between MCs and avoid the major blowout pitfall. For the genre it’s a solid read.

Great story
Great story, sweet, and romantic, Macleod style. A doctor with a control and serene personality and a messy, family woman artist. A sister death forced Hadley back to her parents home, and the sad circumstances brought Tyne and Hadley together, then the battle began. A fight for parental rights, a battle against Tyne secret crush, against love, happiness and the incredible attraction between the Boston top doctor and Tyne. Is a spicy rush of feelings and emotions until both surrender for Owens benefits. I definitely recommend it.

So Beautiful
This story is so full of emotions that you will get caught up in the first chapter. The sadness of unexpected loss is so palpable that you physically feel it. The wonder of getting to know a new attraction fills the reader with much excitement. The discovery of learning that our parents are mortal can take our breath away. Realizing that family can often have many different looks but as long as there is an endless supply of love, that’s all that matters. I could go on and on. This book I will highly recommend to anyone needing an afternoon pick-me-up. Amazing job Miranda MacLeod..simply amazing!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Tries too hard
The concept is good, the execution not so much. The author tries too hard to create conflict and it is beyond forced. Tyne and Hadley are the most self-sabotaging characters ever written, and have so little chemistry with each other that the sex scenes are snooze inducing they’re so non-erotic.

Heartwarming story, excellent narration
Hadley Moore’s whole life is her job as an emergency room doctor. When she finds herself on the other side, after her sister and her brother-in-law die in a car accident, leaving their baby behind, Hadley realises there’s more to life than her job, even if she loves it. Tyne Briggs is the baby’s other aunt, and she’s had a crush on Hadley for the longest time. Grief brings them together, but the battle for the child’s custody threatens everything.
Hearts in Motion is an age-gap opposites-attract romance, with a touch of small-town/big city trope as well. I know I keep complaining about miscommunication in lesfic, or at least about the way it’s often used with no reason other than to create some angst, when the characters don’t really have any reason to hide anything. I won’t in this review. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a huge lack of communication between Hadley and Tyne, and that’s where most of the conflict comes from. What I did enjoy, however, is the fact that they’re forced to acknowledge it, and do better. MacLeod succeeds in bringing humour to a story about grief, and I have to admit I’m impressed.
Lori Prince is the perfect narrator for these stories, this mix of emotions and funny scenes. She’s really good with comedic timing, but the scene that actually made me love her in this book is a very emotional one, in which every nuance of what the character was feeling could be heard in her voice.

Really enjoyed this F/F romance
A heads up, if you are recently bereaved you may want to avoid this story, which although based around grief is not unduly sad and not depressing.
Miranda MacLeod uses skilful writing to bring a lightness of touch to the storyline and skillful banter to establish a believable connection between the two temperamentally different main characters. Her descriptions of the baby at the heart of the story are charming.
The unusual subject matter makes for a good plot which, although well thought out and arriving at just the right conclusion, is not very realistic but is believable nevertheless.
Lori Prince brings an added lightness of tone to the audio production with her skillful narration. Together, she and the author make a great combination.
This one will go in my favorites and I will be looking out for more audiobooks written by Miranda MacLeod and narrated by Lori Prince

Just like life, these hearts keep going on and on
Lori prince again manages to lift the characters from the page and breathe in that spark of life with little tone shifts, breathless sighs and adorable noises. Quite a pleasure to listen to.
Hearts get knocked quite a bit in this tale of emotions, from grief to love and everything in between the characters don’t come by their happiness in an easy way, espescially when going on full steam in their decision making on their turbulent emotions. But with the care of a lovable little boy in the balance cupid sure his hands full.
