Publisher's Summary

When pastry chef Annabeth Jones goes on the run from her abusive fiance, the small town of Bearpaw Ridge offers her a safe haven. Nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, with friendly neighbors and a bakery/cafe that needs a new owner, it's the perfect place for her to start over.

Firefighter and bear shifter Dane Swanson knows at once that kind, curvy Annabeth is his fated mate. She's also human, in a world where shifters must keep their existence secret. Annabeth has no idea that Bearpaw Ridge's population is more shifter than human...but if they're to be mated, Dane will have to find a way to tell her everything.

Wary of new relationships, Annabeth can't help warming to the strong, handsome man who can't get enough of her cinnamon rolls...or her. But her fragile hopes are shattered when her ex tracks her down, determined to reclaim her.

Dane is equally determined to protect his mate - but will Annabeth still accept him when he reveals the other side of his nature?

Chef Annabeth and Firefighter Dane

This book 1 of the Bearpaw Ridge Firefighters series and it is starting out very good. Bearpaw Ridge is the name of the town at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. The book kept my attention throughout. Annabeth is Dane’s fated mate and he is a bear shifter.

Beth Roeg did a great job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This story is like a good box of donuts!

Annabeth and Dane are the first couple that we get to know in the Bearpaw Ridge Series. Annabeth is a sweet and generous woman who is trying to start a new life away from an ex who won't take no for an answer. Dane is a big, protective bear shifter who manages the family ranch. He instantly falls for Annabeth but she is human and he is a shifter.

This book is full of laughter, love, and some amazing moments that you don't want to forget! Ophelia Sexton captures our attention with this awesome story!

Read or Listen...Both time well spent

I enjoyed the series when I first read them. Then I started a job that required long driving time. What better way than to listen to a book. So naturally I turned to this series. Now I enjoy my driving time... thanks to the author and narrator of this book.

Its okay

The main character needs a back bone. I know its difficult to leave an abusive relationship of a lover and a mother but come now!Girl friend needs to get tough. Story ok and the narrator needs to work on different voices all her female characters were difficult to tell apart.

OK book

This is light reading. The disappointment is that most of the plot twists were telegraphed. Also, in short book, there was a lot of sex. I’m not saying don’t have sex, I am saying think out carefully what you want to say and don’t have it be such a large part of the book.

loved it

Really good story and narration. Dane is a true super hero. I liked how the story shined a light on mental abuse and how it can escalate badly.
I loved the HEA too super cute

Decent listen

This book was not bad at all. It seemed a tad shallow in the character development. I didn't get attached or feel a connection to anyone. It was enough to finish but not keep my attention fully. This pretty much is exactly the same for the 3 that I've listened to so far.
